I have never had an apple product with this terrible of quality. For $50 should definitely last longer especially not used much and always put up when not in use. Would not recommend wasting your money.

Poor Video Quality and No Audio Out of Headphone Jack

The result is the vid Instead of outputting native HDMI, this little device seems to take the output from the phone, compress it, and pass along an HDMI signal. The result is the video quality is far below good HD quality. Expect all kinds of artifacts and other issues including lower than expected HD resolution. This is not a device that can replace a good streaming alternative, which is too bad considering Apple's devices are more than powerful enough for that purpose. For those of us hoping to use our phones or iPads to connect in business settings to display content, be aware that audio is only transmitted through the lightening port when this is plugged in, which gives no audio out through the headphone jack. That means that if you are plugging this into a projector's HDMI input, you are likely going to lose any sound that goes along with your presentation (or anything else) as most quality projectors do not have speakers. This is a big oversight in my opinion as lots of devices keep the analog audio out of a headphone jack or the like live while also transmitting sound over HDMI. Similarly, sound is not also sent via bluetooth when this is plugged in, so that's not an alternative either. I have both the bluetooth and headphone jack options open on my laptop, which has an HDMI out. So much for replacing a good old laptop.

      Disappointing

Bought this to stream Netflix, Hulu, Amazon video and now Disney plus to the tv for the whole family to watch together. Unfortunately it has mind of its own it Bought this to stream Netflix, Hulu, Amazon video and now Disney plus to the tv for the whole family to watch together. Unfortunately it has mind of its own it will only play Hulu for about 3 seconds and then kick us out. It only works occasionally on Netflix it will stop in the middle of an episode, season or movie and not play that title again whatsoever. On Amazon video it plays most titles usually. And on Disney plus it works until it has an issue once and then you can't play whatever movie or show you were trying to watch when you got the error. Talked to support and they said to buy another. These are 45$ at Walmart... That's expensive for a tiny little cable with one function. When I told support that we had issues with it when we first got it and I want to know if I buy a new one if it will work for sure and their answer was they had no idea... Which I understand. But I have the newest I phone the newest update, good quality cables and TV's so there's really no reason for this product to not work. It's got to be an issue with the phone AND ALSO the adapter working together. Not sure if I'm willing to spend the money to have the same problems. Apple needs to fix this. Seeing as this product has two stars I'm not the only one that thinks this. Please fix this issue for your customers apple..

      Waste of money!!!

None of my apps work to stream content using this $50 cable. Movies anywhere um nope, google play um nope, Netflix um nope. What’s the point of buying a $50 c None of my apps work to stream content using this $50 cable. Movies anywhere um nope, google play um nope, Netflix um nope. What’s the point of buying a $50 cable if it can’t play any content that works on my iPad but not over a stupid cable. Will be returning this as soon as I get home. Apple charges a premium and won’t even warn you about the lack of support for other apps. Bush League in my opinion.
