    OtterBox 👎

I was unable to press the buttons with the hard coating of plastic that covers them. I wish they would leave them visable and accessible.

    Solid case

    • Written by Black R from Wayne

I’ve been using this case for about 3 months and it’s great. Let me start with the light weight form factor. It keeps the iPad as an easy to carry device with minimal change in size to foot print of the device. Super easy in and out of a sachet I use from Coach or I just carry it’s my daily device.

I use my iPad primarily for meetings with the pencil so, protection is a must for my use case. The pencil stays nested and the clear back allows for the AppleDesign to maintain its presence while protecting the finish. Color and feel are also great in addition to adequate protection and the price is right.

Caused my iPad Pro to lose touch feature intermittently

    • Written by Daran C from Rockford

I bought this case and initially thought it was amazing. I like the general size and feel of it, the materials... the little flap that holds the pencil firmly against the iPad Pro... but the honeymoon ran out a couple weeks ago when I started experiencing an issue that I believe is caused solely by this case: certain areas of the screen simply stopped accepting touch gestures from time-to-time. No taps, no swipes, nothing. And then it would come back. And then go away again.

I tried restarting, quitting all my apps, turning the screen around a number of times to see if the gyroscope needed a little reminder...
but finally I tried taking my iPadPro out of the case and immediately all was cured. Honestly it also feels more responsive speed/animation wise. My guess is the magnets are interfering somehow, but it isn't my job to figure this out in its entirety.

I DO have a screen protector on the screen to make it more matte and feel a bit more toothy (for drawing) than the original screen surface, but this is unrelated, as... again... popping the iPadPro out of this case fixed it immediately.

    Worth the Expense

    • Written by Bruce R from Carrboro

Definitely a premium cover. Well-Designed, Sturdy, and Good-Looking......I've been using the clear back and smart cover combination for a few years, and this is a perefect one-piece version. Feels good in the hand; looks good to the eye. .... Everything tight with the cover folded back for reading...Nice pencil holder....Keeps the screen clean .... The clear back looks cool and feels good .... Why is that Apple can't do the same?!

    Good case

    • Written by Wendy M from Suisun City

I finally caved and purchased this case today at the apple store. Before this one I had purchased 2 generic kinds from amazon similar to this same design. Both were flawed where the 2 top corners were not holding onto the iPad (could be how heavy the device is, idk) so I read and watched good reviews on this. It is a perfect fit, nothings loose, magnets work great, love the pencil holder being encased as well. It doesn’t add to much more weight to the iPad, but I do especially love how thin it still feels while being well protected. I don’t think it is worth the $89 though. Was going to get a maxjoy or zugu case on amazon but didn’t want to deal with another return. I also wish that apple honored the vet/military discount in store, as they do online. Overall, I know my iPad will be protected and my search for a perfect case is over.

    So Far So Good.

    • Written by Bjarni W from Moruya Heads

I've had the case for about 1 month now and it does its job well, Good overall protection without being too bulky. Having not dropped it cannot say it that part works but definitely feel it has a better life expectancy with this cover.

Now if I had to find something that could be improved but not a deal breaker is when trying to open the case there is no real grab point. You find yourself having to sometimes try and grab the top cover a few times etc on opening, 1st world problem ;)

    Overall nice work Otterbox.

    Not a good product

    • Written by Rick G from Richmond

First of all the plastic is soft around the speakers I feel this will tear up soon, and what really did it for me was there is no place for the pencil there is no magnet, no holder nothing, it can sit just above the screen but is not secured.

I will keep for 14 days and try the UAG looks and feels better and it has a pencil holder.

This case does it all... much better than the Apple Smart Folio

    • Written by Johnna M from Winter Springs

So... IMHO, the official Smart Folio for the 3rd gen 12.9 iPad Pro 2018 has a glaring problem. The back does not wrap up around the perimeter to protect the sides and corners. Using “the Apple Pencil needs to attach” excuse is no defense because the pencil only magnetizes on one long side leaving the other three sides and all four corners vulnerable to scratches and dents. I looked everywhere to find a better case, but each time I thought I found one, I had to give up a feature to gain the protection feature. Thankfully, this Otterbox case for the 12.9 iPad Pro 2018 has it all... no compromises. It’s back wraps up to cover three sides and four corners, leaving one long side for charging and storing the Apple Pencil. There is the usual sleep/wake and stand functions. In addition, there is a small flap/tab that wraps over the Apple Pencil when the case is closed, making sure the pencil doesn’t get accidentally knocked off. Plus, when the front cover is folded to the back, the small flap/tab folds back as well, keeping the cover in position so it doesn’t move around. Finally, the back is clear, so the Apple logo shows through. Yea! This cover is expensive, but so was my iPad Pro! Doesn’t make sense to skimp on the protection. Definitely recommend this case over the Apple Smart Folio.

    Rubbish

    • Written by Matthew C from Epsom

Rubber surrounds don't fit entirely properly and seem to slightly protrude in places. The way the cover's attached to the case means that it never really properly lines up with the screen automatically, especially when folded behind during use - because of the plastic back it also doesn't magnetically 'stick' to the iPad like the apple cover does which can be a little annoying. The side part that protects the pencil also has no way of being pinned back when using the iPad so it just flaps about. For £80 I expected a heck of a lot better. Sent back immediately.

Great overall design but durability is an issue

    • Written by Matthew L from COMMERCE CITY

The design itself is brilliant but the case has fatal flaws. This case's softer rubber material is already eroding and scraping off from short drops (less than 2 feet). The cover's hinge ripped after a short drop. I expect a higher durability from OtterBox and have other cases that haven't had this issue. Perhaps the design of the iPad limited OB's choices in the matter but the material shouldn't fall apart immediately. I will most likely be returning this case.

    Almost perfect BUT…

    • Written by Marvin M from Great Neck

I wanted a very protective case since I saw a video of the ipad bending and that freaked me out. I use my iPad Pro for teaching purposes and sometimes students may accidently drop it or knock it over. I’m pretty confident of the protective nature of the case, so to that aspect, I give a thumbs up.

Also I like the fact the case doesn’t inhibit the pencil charging functionality. It was the only protective case available at the time I purchased my iPad Pro which was able to acieve this. Another plus.

However there is one glaring negative IMHO. My biggest issue is with the weight of the iPad Pro combined with the case. I previously owned the 2nd generation iPad Pro and had a Tech21 case with the apple cover. This combo weighed less than my current tablet and case, although the new iPad Pro by itself weighs less than the old one (a major reason I upgraded). Since I walk around holding the iPad and drawing to demonstrate to my students, this is a really, really big negative for me. Maybe I’ll get used to it, but for now: thumbs down.

At the present time, it’s my only option. Fingers crossed, a lighter more protective case surfaces soon and I will have my perfevt combo

    • Written by RAMIN R from LOS ANGELES

It fits very well, built quality is awesome, does not make your iPad bulky and more important than all it gives the iPad all around protection.

    Great fitting case - BUT!

    • Written by Neil C from Stroud

Bought this case 4 days ago, the case fits perfectly like you would expect from a flag ship brand like Otterbox. BUT it states in its listing and I quote “Clear, scratch-resistant case” sorry but it isn’t I haven’t even taken my iPad out of home yet and it already has marks on the back which looks shabby. You pay a premium price for these cases and I expect the quality to matchup. Not Happy Apple ☹️

Great case! What it should have been from the start.

    • Written by Daniel A from Calgary

This is the case Apple should have created from the start. When using the smart folio I was always paranoid about bumping the unprotected sides of the iPad, this case offers the protection the iPad needs. Also the smart folio doesn't have a pencil holder so I always found my pencil slipping off and falling to the bottom of my backpack, as the magnets on the iPad are simply not good enough for transporting the device and pencil as it moves around. This case has a well thought out flap that will keep your pencil intact as you move it around, and it's the only case on the market at the moment that has this feature. I only wish the case came in more colour options (midnight blue anyone?). Well done otterbox!

Exactly what I was waiting for

    • Written by David K from St Albans

I have been putting off purchasing a case as the existing options hadn’t satisfied my demands. I wanted a case that protects 100% of the iPad, corners and sides included, whilst allowing for Apple Pencil charging and support. This is perfect.

Better than the Apple Smart Folio!

    • Written by Alejandro S from Calgary

Just received my order of OtterBox Symmetry Series 360 Case for my new 12.9-inch 2018 iPad Pro and I am so pleased with the quality of this case and with the fast delivery. It fits very well and protects all sides aside from the front and back. The transparent back shows the Apple logo making this product actually looks like more of an actual Apple brand than Apple Smart Folio and costs less. Highly recommended!

    Well thought out design.

    • Written by Jose A from Auburndale

I purchased a Smart Folio for 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd Generation) first since there was no other option available. I was not comfortable with the lack of protection of the Smart Folio, so the minute the OtterBox Symmetry Series 360 Case came out I purchased it right away and return the Smart Folio. I am extremely happy with the OtterBox Symmetry Series 360 Case. Much more protection, it is very stylish. I highly recommend the OtterBox Symmetry Series 360 Case.

    Great protection beats the folio

    • Written by Diego L from San Benito

I love how this product fits the iPad Pro precisely. The pencil holder is superb. The back cover is crystal clear so you can still see your beautiful apple logo surrounded in space gray (the color you should have). I only wish the case was easier to open with the pencil being attached. The case provides proper protection and is worth its price.

    Pretty Good

    • Written by Roman R from Philadelphia

Purchased this as an alternative to Apple's Smart Folio (which I tried first). I like that the back is clear, allowing my engraved name to show. I also like how a tab folds over to protect the Apple Pencil. The folding seams of the front cover create a little looseness when folding into a triangle to serve as an iPad stand. Other than that, this is a pretty good case.

    Nice case but

    • Written by Jody M from Elimbah

I have had this case for a few days. I chose this case due to OtterBox reputation and the lack of variety of quality cases. Normally I would not buy this type of case due the folding lid that turn into a stand. On the lowest setting they tend to slip and fall over and are not sturdy, the join where the lid attaches is also a bit flexible for my liking. The rubber cut out at the end for the speakers is also a bit too flexible and could easily snap if young kids were to use the iPad. I do like that it feels & looks like a quality product, it is a nice looking case and the iPad fits in securely therefore it should stay protected. If the lid was one piece I would have given it 4 stars. A choice of other colours would have been nice also.
