  • Overview

The Beddit 3 Sleep Monitor automatically tracks your sleep and works with the Beddit app on your iPhone or iPad to help you achieve better sleep. Unlike activity trackers, Beddit is completely ambient so there’s no need to wear or charge it. The thin, flexible and soft sensor is unnoticeable when placed under the sheet on top of the mattress. It senses and automatically begins tracking when you lie down on the bed — collecting and analysing sleep-related data such as sleep time and efficiency, heart rate, respiration, temperature, movement, snoring, room temperature and room humidity.

    Understand your sleep patterns better

The Beddit app delivers personalised insights and customisable sleep coaching to help you improve your sleep. In addition, the Beddit Smart Alarm provides the most accurate method of detecting the optimal time to awaken you from sleep.

    How it works

Beddit technology is based upon a scientific principle known as ballistocardiography (BCG), an unobtrusive, non-invasive technique for measuring the mechanical activity of the heart, lungs and other body functions. Each time the heart beats, the acceleration of blood through the circulatory system generates a mechanical impulse that can be measured and analysed. Throughout the night, Beddit tracks each individual heartbeat and respiration cycle. Beddit’s advanced analysis and machine-learning algorithms adapt differently to each body type and provide detailed sleep data.

    Highlights

Automatically tracks sleep as well as heart rate, average resting heart rate, respiration, movement and snoring

Thin, flexible, soft sensor is undetectable when placed under the sheet on top of the mattress

No need to wear anything like activity trackers, sensors or other gadgets

Beddit Sleep Score combines sleep quality and sleep quantity data into one easy-to-understand number

    Tracks room temperature and humidity

Works on any bed, any size mattress, and with one or two people in the bed (requires two sensors for tracking two people)

The sensor is removable for travel

Works with Apple Watch to deliver Sleep Score every morning, and track a nap if the Sleep Score was too low

Delivers sleep data to Apple Health app

    Did You Notice?

Beddit’s sleep tracking and scoring system was developed in partnership with the Helsinki Sleep Clinic, VitalMed Research Centre and professor Markku Partinen, MD, a leading authority on sleep research.

      It works!

I use this in conjunction with a CPAP and have found it to be quite accurate. My sleep quality always registers higher when I use my CPAP vs when I don't. Also, not having one more thing to wear while I'm asleep is a huge bonus.

      Big improvement over Beddit 2

I liked the app, and it was great not having to wear anything while sleeping. However, the adhesive on the beddit 2’s sensor eventually started losing its tackiness. When I saw that the Beddit 3 no longer used adhesive with its sensor, it was an instant buy for me. I have been using it for a month now and love it.

It was simple to set up, jut put it on your mattress at chest height and plug it in, connect with your Beddit app and off you go. The detail of information is very good, but it is also easy to check things at a glance. It shows you your different levels of sleep, your heart rate, breathing rate, temperature and humidity of the room. And it can detect snoring with the app. The automatic sleep detection is very useful, you don't have to remember anything when you go to bed. Just hop in and fall to sleep.

"try getting a good night's sleep to feel refreshed" sort of stuff... Also, if you have two beds ( a vacation home for example) you have to re-pair with your phone each time (no auto discover) which is annoying.

Maybe a fitted sheet would hold it down better, but I have flat sheets and the monitor doesn't stay put all night. If I move around a lot at night the monitor is quite often bunched up under me in the morning ... that surely doesn't help with good sleep! Secondly, it seems that if I spend 7 hours in bed I get a good sleep score, regardless of how many times I've woken up or had restless sleep through the night. I didn't need to spend a lot of money to tell me that spending longer in bed is better!! I now ignore the sleep score and look at the graph of how I slept. The sleep score impacts on any tags applied though - so, because I often spend longer in bed because I've had a bad night, some of the tags that I've applied to describe why I had a bad night have positive values attributed to them! In the month that I've been using beddit I haven't had a night where I've woken up feeling like I had a really good night's sleep, so I haven't been able to see the difference from a normal night, but the data is interesting. I'm tempted to swap it over to my husband's side of the bed soon to prove he snores!!!

      Almost right

Easy to install and it works in automatic (on when going to bed by itself and off when stepping out of bed) and the data seems to be accurate (from what I think I know) BUT THE APP GAVE ME PAUSE. Here's why: 1. The app is badly translated - I get parts in French and others in English 2. The big circle on the main screen is so big that you always have to scroll down to read correctly the other data. 3. There are 2 circles: I get the orange, but have no idea what the green one is 4. If you've setup your app NOT to start automatically, then you have to manually start it when you go to bed and that's fine, and when you do it displays the alarms time, but when in automatic and you go to bed, it only toggles a ON/OFF display and is not showing the same alarm window -- thus no consistency. 5. They have a nice feature to wake you up up to 30 min before your alarm (they decide when is the best moment to wake you), but you cannot chose what day of the week to set up your alarm. So if you tell it to wake you at 7h30, then you'll be awaken around that time on weekends too. So yes, data looks good, but I felt this app is not polished enough and this unfortunately raises a doubt as to the quality of the data also. In my view those were so easy to fix, but yet they either got lazy or lacked the time, and both are not good reason and dont reflect good on the quality of the hole product. Still wondering if I'll keep it -- I'm giving it a week.
