      What I expected!

I've long had my eye on Sonos, and this speaker didn't disappoint. Finally pulled the trigger on this expensive system, and I say system, because I bought four. Two 5's, an two 1's. I hear individuals say they're overrated, but I'm truly impressed with the separation in the music I'm playing through it. I like that it's WiFi, and can live without it being Bluetooth enabled as well, due to the sound downgrade. I do feel Sonos should loosen the reins a little, and allow more control to the user, rather than everything going through their proprietary software, which is a bit clunky. But I understand this is what most companies want these days, closed gardens. Because I'm sure they're looking for ways to somehow monetize their software.

I absolutely listen to music way to much. This sound system is amazing, and is going to be replacing my old(ish) Sony 500 watt sound system. It sounds so good! The True-Tune works wonderfully and sounds amazing in any room I take it to. I've used it for many house parties in the past, and even with the volume all the way up you don't hear any distortion, just crisp clear music. Even if you're not looking to block rock with this speaker you can still appreciate the rich bass and lovely mids while relaxing on your couch this afternoon. Most Apple stores do not have this speaker on display for demo, so do yourself a favor and go to your nearest Target with a friend. Find the speaker in the electronics section and press play. Remember to turn it all the way up. "Hold My Hand" by Jess Glynne can be heard perfectly standing in any part of the store.

One of the best on the market

Opening the box, it's clear you're getting a quality product. The speaker is beautifully put together and feels very substantial. Unlike many competitors, this speaker isn't fussy about room placement... more on that later. The set up process is dead simple, and can be done from most devices. The applications walk you through the process, although it's best to use a phone or tablet as they have a microphone for Trueplay. During this set up, the speaker will make a series frequency sweeps to help tune in the sound signature for the room. The result, this is by far the best wireless speaker I've ever heard Where is speaker fails, like no high-res playback, it excels in great sound quality, especially when using CD quality streams (Tidal or Qobuz), or music shared on a NAS device. When compared to some higher priced competitors, such as Bowers and Wilkins or Naim Audio, the Sonos clearly has the edge. And that's saying something, bearing in mind these others have far more experience. My search is over. I've found the ultimate discrete hifi system.
