  • Overview

An all-in-one solution, the Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Express Dock HD lets you power your Mac, drive two 4K displays simultaneously*, and get up to 40 Gbps of super-fast data transfer with just a single cable.

In total, the dock supports one 5K display or two 4K displays. And with two built-in Thunderbolt 3 ports, you can connect your Thunderbolt 3–enabled Mac and daisy-chain up to five additional Thunderbolt devices at the same time.

For the first time, Thunderbolt 3 technology supports dual 4k displays*, letting you connect to both the DisplayPort and Thunderbolt 3 ports included on the dock. (Compatible with other USB-C video adapters such as HDMI and VGA sold separately.)

    Thunderbolt 3

Thunderbolt 3 is a truly universal port, combining the versatility of USB-C with data transfer speeds of up to 40 Gbps. It supports charging, high-speed PCIe data transfer, DisplayPort, VGA and HDMI (via supported adapters) — all from a single port. And it’s completely reversible, so no matter how you plug in, it’s always the right way up.

Offering double the speed of the previous generation, Thunderbolt 3 supercharges data transfer between peripherals, leaving you with plenty of bandwidth to daisy-chain multiple high-speed devices without a hub or switch.

Will NOT work with the Apple USB SuperDrive

The Apple USB SuperDrive is a principal accessory that should be compatible with all docks, USB hubs, etc that are marketed as accessories for Apple laptops but The Apple USB SuperDrive is a principal accessory that should be compatible with all docks, USB hubs, etc that are marketed as accessories for Apple laptops but unfortunately that is not the case. This product is another example that is not compatible. The SuperDrive is not mentioned on the product page at all and I had to discover it's compatibility after purchasing. There are other alternatives that are compatible but Apple will block this review if I list them. I can only suggest you look elsewhere.

I'll update the review if this gets resolved. I'm using the latest MBP15 that was released Spring 2017.

This means that the Belkin dock can only support two monitors. More importantly, an MST (multi-stream-transport) display counts as TWO streams because of, well, the multi-stream-transport. This means that if you connect one of these listed monitors to the Belkin dock via a Macbook Pro, it will be the only monitor that works. Or, if you connect some other monitor first, then the MST monitor will not run. I am particularly disappointed to not have this clear from the start, as these two 4K monitors were the first recommended by Apple, and the Sharp version was available in the Apple Store for quite some time and implicitly recommended for operation with Macs. This behavior seems obvious to me now, but I wish it were more obvious before I invested the time. Best of luck for your configuration.

Belkin did no QA on this product

I have 2 4k displays plugged in to this at my desk, and was looking forward to only plugging a single cable into my macbook to dock it. This product not only does not work, but it doesn't even "not work" consistently. Sometimes no displays will work, sometimes on the USBC display will work, other times only the DP display will work. Maybe 1 out of 100 times, both displays will come on and function properly. This is usually after 15-20 minutes of plugging and unplugging the dock every morning. Belkin support does not help. Garbage product.

Don't attempt to use an external screen with hdmi cable

If you plug the hdmi cable direc If I use the dock to connect a 32 inch screen in hdmi, every time I plug the dock to the macbook pro it simply freezes the mac. If you plug the hdmi cable directly to the mac, there is no issue. I though that paying such a price for a usb hub would assure me a certain level of quality, this is obviously not the case. Belkin support page for this product has no useful information, the product is old and should have been patched, but no effort is done on this side as well. Take the money and go skiing, it's a better investment.

Reconnecting the plug to the dock doesn't work either - the only solution is to replug it on a switch or router in order to make it work. BELKIN should get its work done and deliver a firmware update as the ethernet port remains unusable at this point! These are issues on a CURRENT TOP-OF-THE-LINE 15" MACBOOK PRO and up-to-date High Sierra, and equally occuring on Sierra, as well !
