Apple 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter for MacBook Air

  • Overview

The 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Air stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC lead is provided with the adapter for maximum lead length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect travelling companion, the adapter has a clever design that allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible only with MacBook Air featuring MagSafe 2 power port.

      Poor Product

By far, the most badly designed accessory for any Macbook or Mac Air or Mac Pro is the AC adapter. No matter how careful you are, the adapter breaks and shorts out long before it should; it's the Achilles heel of Apple products. At this writing, my early 2014 Macbook Air is like new, but the AC adapter just shorted out. Please, Apple, there's no reason for this.

      Charger broke within 4 months

After transporting my charger in my backpack, I was surprised to have found the cord to be frayed. Looks like a lot of people are having quality issues as well.

      Clunky, fragile and expensive

I need a new one but am resentful for having to shell out $80 for it. This inferior product is beneath you, Apple, and it is well overdue for a redesign.

      The worst

I don't like it when companies sell me things that fall apart, and I'm looking at other laptop and phone brands for my next devices specifically because Apple's chargers are such rip offs.

      Cable is Garbage

My original charging cable/brick lasted me until early 2016; so about three years. It frayed right by the magnetic power connector. I have never had a computer cable wear out before. I bought a replacement and read lots of negative reviews, but wanted to get the OEM replacement. Just over a year later my new cable is completely shredded after LIGHT use (I rarely travel with my laptop anymore). This is garbage. I have never had the rubber cable cover wear out on any other electronic device I've ever owned and to have it happen after just a year is utter garbage. Apple should be ashamed of themselves for not fixing this issue by now. This is the single worst cable on the market.
