For some currently unknown reason, the video on an external monitor glitches periodically to a low resolution and the only way to reset it is to change the resolution to some other value and then back to best for monitor setting. I have found it best to not use this adapter with external USB drives of any kind. Sometimes the drive decides to unmount in the middle of a read or write operation--Not good for data integrity or drive performance. The biggest negative is that there are no documented alternatives that do not have similar poor reviews. I guess this line of netbooks, oh, sorry, premium Apple notebooks with USB-C really isn't meant to be used with any external peripherals ... other than a charger and a set of ... headphones ...

      Useless since last update

C'mon, what is this? Not even worth a single star...

      Doesn’t work = fail

I had supp iPads are designed for presentations. This adapter allows mirroring through the VGA port. But VGA is for video out and doesn’t accommodate audio out. I had supposed the USB-C Port on this multi port adapter could use the 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter for audio out (since iPad Pro 2018 does not have this built in). However the USB-C port on the adapter is for power only. So there is no way to have both video out and audio out for the latest iPad Pro. So ridiculous! I talked to three Apple techs regarding this and no adapter has both video/audio out. They found an adapter made in China with these features, I bought it but audio out doesn’t work. How could Apple forget to design something so important?

      Works great for external monitors

I tried several cheaper, non-apple versions of this adaptor and had problems with them. The main issue is that when I put my monitor to sleep, the other version I tried several cheaper, non-apple versions of this adaptor and had problems with them. The main issue is that when I put my monitor to sleep, the other versions make my external monitors act funny. With the Apple version, it shuts the external monitors down too. This device gets a lot of poor reviews but it works perfect for what I use it for. I use two external monitors on either side of my iMac.

      Hopeless product

This should not even qualify for a single star but for purposes of comments I had to rate it the lowest to my utter disappointment. I have just purchased and This should not even qualify for a single star but for purposes of comments I had to rate it the lowest to my utter disappointment. I have just purchased and adaptor yesterday and it has already having the same effect like others have commented on. When using a double monitor it works for 2 mins until the adaptor heats up then it either freezes or it flickers between the two monitors then goes of and reboots it self. This is really frustrating making me really wonder what has happened to the worlds best product? APPLE??
