    This is a bit of a grey area I've Tried it with my Sony bloggie and this doesn't work, however I've also tried it with my Sony DCR-sr37 and this works, I would highly recommend purchasing one of these.

    PS the Usb one can also be used to plug a USB keyboard, mic or speakers in to your iPad.
