Will this allow a stereo input from an external stereo mic such as the Rode Stereo Videomic Pro which comes with 3.5mm stereo mini-jack output?

You probably need the "Rode SC7 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Patch Cable" to make it work. If you used the TRS to TRS cable that came with the Rode mic, I wouldn't expect it to work.

You need a Rode SC4 trs to trrs adaptor for it to work. So first mic into SC4 adaptor, then SC4 into Lightning adaptor. I have read you need to connect in that order or it doesn't work.

The only way I can see to get the Rode Stereo Videomic into an iPhone is via a USB device. When plugged up with the 3.5mm to lightning adapter it just appears as a headsetmic in mono
