Which external hard drive can I purchase that can go between iMac and windows computers?
I have an iMac at home and windows pcs at work and I need an external hard drive that can go between the 2 on a daily basis.

If you format the drive for DOS's FAT file system, both systems can use the drive.
An alternative, if you want some of your stuff exclusively for the Mac, create two partitions on the drive. One partition is formatted for DOS's FAT file system. The other partition is formatted for OS X. The Mac can read and write to both partitions. The Windows machine will only see the DOS partition.

Any you would just have to format it to a file system that windows and mac can read. Or you can install an HFS+ app in windows that will read the OS X filesystem
