What do I need to get as an adapter for overhead projector presentations with my macbook
Doing Keynote presentations for overhead projection. What kind of adapter do I need for a white macbook (2009 model)

Best Answer:That will depend on the projector, however projectors typically have DVI and / or VGA connectors.
Looking at the specifications for Macbook early 2009 you have a Mini-DVI connector from your Macbook.
That means you would need the Apple Mini-DVI to DVI, and / or the Apple Mini-DVI to VGA adapter/s.
I'd get both if you are connecting to a variety of projectors and you don't know what the connector on the projector is, or will be.- Answered by Jason S from Waverley

Can I plug a DVI-VGA adapter to this to plug this to a VGA monitor?
I use my laptop between two different monitors, 1 DVI and 1 VGA. Do I need two adapters (Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter AND Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter)?
Or can I use the ONE Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter and plug a DVI-VGA convertor to it and plug it up to my VGA monitor?
Thank you in advance.- Asked by Anonymous A from Xxxxx

Best Answer:I have the same desire. Unfortunately, it does not work. I believe the mini-display port to DVI for the newest macbooks no longer connect the analog signals to the DVI connector. The display is recognized but the video is not output. Looks like a separate mini-display port to VGA is required unless I am missing something. Note the previous mini DVI to DVI on macbooks did output the analog.

AnswerYes, of course. However, this is a completely different and unrelated item. The correct mini-VGA to VGA adapter was included with your vintage MacBook. If you have lost it, they are no longer manufactured or available from Apple; however, you should be able to find one on the secondary market (for instance, an auction or second-hand/old stock website).

How do you connect a 22" cinema display (through an ADC converter) to a 17" iMac?
I have one of the original 22" cinema displays that is in astoundingly good condition. It had been driven by a G5 Quad through an ADC converter. Now I want to use with with a new 27" iMac. However, the mini display port converter has the wrong type of DVI connector. Has anyone done this or know how to make it work?

Best Answer:
If your LCD television includes HDMI ports, you can use this adaptor in combination with a DVI-HDMI cable. If you don't have HDMI ports, you should instead get the Composite Video adaptor, and use the standard yellow video socket to connect it. This will be lower resolution, and is not digital. You will also probably want to get a headphone jack to RCA cable from your local HiFi store, to pass audio through to the TV, as it will otherwise come out of the macbook's built in speakers.
