Answer
It's the same, really. The only thing I can think of is 1 or 2% of battery life being used out of the iPad for a full charge. I almost always use my iPad because it's more convenient, though.

When you cover the touch screen of the iPad pro with a transparent protective layer or skin does this effect the performance of the Apple Pencil?

AnswerI too was worried about this as a possible issue. It would appear Apple obviously planned ahead for this as well. I put a Skinomi Tech Glass screen protector on my iPad Pro. Despite the noticeable distance from the writing surface compared to an iPad Pro without a protector, there is no difference in the Apple Pencil functionality. The Pencil still reacts to pressure and angles as it would without the screen protector. There is no lag whatsoever and the point of contact follows directly under the tip at all times. Amazingly it only reacts when you make contact with the surface. Also, the palm rejection works flawlessly.

Doesn't it scratch Ipad display?
Hey guys! I had windows tablet with wacom pencil that scratched my gorilla glass :(, also i know some guys who had same problems with ipad and some different (not apple's) pencils. These pencils have hard scratchy "stick" inside the rubber tip, so when this rubber is worn out (in very inpredictable moment) this hard stick scratch the display. Doesn't your apple pencil has such hard part inside the tio? Does it scratch your ipad? I really care about my ipad diplay and don't want to ruin it... Will be appreciate for any feedback.

AnswerI have not had any visible scratches on my iPad. I use the pencil everyday for writing notes in my college classes and I have not had any scratches. So no it does not leave scratches. There is a hard sensor under the tip but the tips that cover it do not wear down that much and you can replace the tips when you feel that it is needed. When I bought my iPad the guy helping me said that getting scratches on the display is hard because of the strength of the glass. Knock on wood I haven't had any scratches on my iPad Pro 9.7".

Answer
I am not an artist but I purchased the pencil with the idea of possibly trying my hand at drawing. I've always wanted to learn how to draw and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. I also have a model train layout in my basement that I'm just beginning to scenic and one of the cool things I found was that I could take a photograph of my layout, put it into Paper 53, and I'm sure there are other apps that this would work with, but I take a photograph of a portion of my layout and then use the pencil to actual draw on the photograph adding how I want it to look by adding things like roads and buildings and that way if I don't like it I can just erase it, bring a picture back and start over again. You can do the same sort of thing with landscaping plants outside or changing your house -- anything to do with taking a photograph and then draw on it!
I also use the pencil when adding this response because the words were so small I couldn't use my finger to actually insert the cursor where I wanted to edit my response - the pencil was perfect to be able to just slip it between two letters even with this tiny little font it worked great ....I love the pencil -- it's pretty pricey but it's really only limited by your imagination!
I also felt i must have a case that contained the pencil to try to keep me from losing it. And I also saw available a must have and very inexpensive three piece kit that has holders to keep the tiny parts like the cap and lightening connector adapter connected to pencil or lightening cable. Go for it !!!

The Apple Pencil is only compatible with the iPad Pro 12.9" and iPad Pro 9.7" as these new iPads have new technology in the screen to support Apple Pencil, whereas other iPads don't.

I-Pad mini and Apple Pencil compatibility
I have an i-Pad mini 2nd generation one. And also, I have Microsoft OneNote downloaded into and now I wonder whether I would be able to use your new product - Apple Pencil to note down with this software. If not, Please educate me whether I need to get some other software for my noting down activities.
Thank You.

AnswerHi. Unfortunately, the Apple Pencil is not compatible with the second generation iPad mini. The Pencil's compatibility is limited to the the iPad Pro and the iPad Pro 9.7. If you would like a stylus, I would recommend getting something like the Adonis Pixel or Wacom Bamboo finalize to work with your iPad. These are both compatible with OneNote, and they come with other software too.

Does the pencil/iPad Pro combo have palm rejection?
My biggest problem with the iPad and using it for drawing/painting (I'm an artist) is that I cannot rest my palm on the tablet. The forces a very awkward way of drawing, such that I was never happy with it and simply gave up! I've been getting mixed information on this feature/function, could someone please tell me once and for all if resting your palm on the iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil rejects other input, preventing stray marks on the screen?

Best Answer:I think it depends on the app. Onenote, definitely, has an option that only recognizes the pencil for writing (can still scroll, zoom, etc, with fingers)
