I took the case off after a few months to see that it had left marks all over my laptop that would'nt come off. DO NOT BUY THIS CASE.

    Excellent product

Fits beautifully to MacBook Air recently purchased. Easy access to all ports. Feels secure when you carry computer, not slippery. It's a snug fit so once on, it is meant to stay on. Would have liked the option to buy this in a colour other than black, but hey, that's being 'picky'. Really glad I bought this addition to my MacBook Air.

    Not Worth It

At first, the case was perfect. It fit nicely, looked good and worked well. Then my laptop started overheating and I had to take off the bottom. Then the back corners of the bottom case snapped off. I haven't dropped it once, they just snapped off. It also leaved rubber marks on the lid of your laptop. Definitely not worth $110.

Best case, hands down (5ft drop)

For starters, I never, ever write reviews, but this case absolutely warrants it. After reading the reviews posted, I had to chime in to defend this case.

You get what you pay for, for better or worse. In this case (no pun intended), it's for the better. I'm genuinely confused as to why people who've spent the equivalent of a mortgage payment on a MB would complain about protecting it for $100 more, but I digress. But really, which is preferable: a broken computer, or no rubber marks? Because basic cleaners can resolve rubber marks (and hand soap can resolve smudges...). Resolving a cracked screen? Not so easy. (I understand there may be some cases which protect *and* leave no marks, but I and others below haven't found them...)

Anyway, I was debating how to protect my 15" MBPR--as I'm sure we all know, a hefty investment. I'm neurotic, and did a LOT of research. I'd never heard of Tech 21 before, so I tried to find as much as I could.

I finally ordered it 2/2015. I liked the sexy packaging (which others have noted), but this was not enough to say "okay, this case is it." When I snapped it on, though, it felt right. You just know if something is going to protect your device (see: OtterBox). This case feels durable as h*ll. It snaps on perfectly and snugly, there are no gaps, and the rubber feet are an excellent added touch. What's more, the case is sleek and aesthetically pleasing. I get so many compliments. From the start, it checked all the boxes for me except one: proven.

Fast forward to almost TWO years later (12/2016): I had my MB on top of a shelf a little over 5 feet high, and it fell. 5+ FEET. When I tell you my heart plummeted--I just knew I'd open it to find cracks, bubbles, the whole shebang. I've never opened something more slowly.

And...nothing. Absolutely nothing: it looked as if I'd just bought it, still. I powered it on and off to test the actual performance (sometimes affected by a drop), and it was as though my MB had no idea that anything happened, because it performed just as well as it always does. Final box checked: proven. This case is it. (Also, due to travel, it's been bumped and even dropped from lower heights a few times in two years and this case has withstood impact time and again, but the 5' drop was the most extreme instance.)

FWIW, I do have the rubber marks which everyone talks about. I honestly don't care. I'd rather clean those then drop $$$$ again for a new MB because I bought an inferior case. My case has also cracked slightly, but I take that as a sign that it's *doing its job*: absorbing the impact, rather than allowing my MB to. Any smudges can be removed with basic cleaner and paper towel. (And I have the clear one, which will reveal smudges. Again, this is a lesser concern.) It is a bit heavier, but I'd prefer a heavier working case than a light-as-a-feather damaged/broken MB.

If you're looking for an excellent case which will 100% protect your computer, this is it. If smudges or rubber marks, which can be cleaned, or $100 extra dollars (to ensure peace of mind) are leading concerns, this amazing case is not the one for you :)

    Mixed review

I've had this case for 1 1/2 years. Here are my pros and cons:
It has protected my Macbook air from scratches. Fortunately, I haven't dropped my computer so I can't attest to impact protection.
This case snaps on easily and stays on well.
The case allows access to all ports and does not inhibit my computer from opening or closing.
I have the purple case, which is a nice color. It isn't very bright but rather a darker color, which works well for me.
I read some reviews that state the case transferred the pattern from the inside of the case to the computer. I removed my case today and this has happened to my computer. I tried to remove the (significant) blemishes without luck as I don't want to scratch my computer.
The case scratches easily and shows fingerprints as well.
Overall, I don't think this case is very attractive.

Sigh..I just want an attractive case that provides good impact protection.

More damage done than without a case...

I bought a case with my macbook air in September 2015. I recently removed the case to find that it has rubbed scuff marks all over my laptop that I have owned for LESS THAN 8 MONTHS! I am unbelievably disappointed and would thoroughly advise NOT to buy one (unless of course you fancy having the dotted design of the "impact material" on the inside of the case rubbed into your laptop along with the serial number.) I'd definitely advise buying another product.

    Love It

I had my case for over a year now. Its a snug fit and not much bulk. It wont protect it from drops but it will protect from normal wear.

Pros: Its protected my macbook air for a year and my mac is scratch free. The case has an amazing rubbery grip. There is an internal rubber support layer for bumps.

Cons: It's hard to get on and off. It jammed up under my fingernail trying to get it off (but I don't want it coming off on its own). There was an annoying squeak when I opened the laptop but that stopped after a week of use after it wore the rubber down at the hinge.

I would buy again and recommend to everyone

The prior review about it wobbling when typing is probably because not all clips were locked in. It is difficult to put on. Just make sure that all clips are locked all the way around the edges.

    You Need to Buy It!

I just purchased this case in purple...beautiful colour...not too bright! It is PERFECT! I looked at various ones at other large box stores and nothing compares to this case! It's durable and I feel confidant that this case will protect my MacBook Air other than other cases. It's definitely worth the price. You get what you pay for!

    Pros and Cons

The case efficiently snaps on to my mac protecting my case wherever I go, the slim features and design would make the case appear light. A very versatile case offering a slick appearance and yet providing solid protection. However the case for what it costs should be lighter, the case adds to much weightage to my computer and is strenuous to carry for long periods of time, which cuts the catch that Apple is trying to convey about MacBook Air's being light and travel friendly. Secondly, the case collects so much fingerprints that the solid black colour that the case shows when first opened is lost in a cloud of fingerprints. Lastly, I've inspected the case numerous however I cannot figure out why my case; when on, makes a strange scratching sound when being opened and closed that I am afraid might damage my computer overtime. Although this case comes with certain flaws, the Tech21 Impact Snap Case truly absorbs the impact and protects my computer.

    Not impressed for £60

After buying my Macbook Air last year I thought it best to spend money on a decent case. £60 is by no means cheap- especially as you can get seemingly the same case on Ebay for £12. It does its job in terms of protecting the Macbook but the top layer is peeling away, making it look rather unattractive. Wouldn't buy again or recommend.

    Poor fit.

Purchased this product a couple of weeks ago and finally got around to attempting to fit the case to my MacBook Air 13.
First impression was that the plastic feels very cheap and insubstantial.
The lower half fitted on easily enough but the top half will not fit into place, the clips are simply not tight enough.I feel thoroughly ripped off considering the price paid!

    Buy this case!

I went through two Speck cases before I purchased this one. The Tech 21 case looks great, feels great, protects my MB Air and has lasted over a year without showing any wear.

    Expensive but Impressive

I felt like I should write a review for anyone on the fence about this product. For the longest time I debated about getting this device for my MacBook Pro 15" and finally pulled the trigger. I am so happy I picked this up, it makes my laptop feel so secure and makes it look twice as nice.

Unlike a Speck case, the impact technology on this thing is actually designed to protect the machine. Have not dropped it yet and surly hope I don't but knowing it's on gives me a peace of mind knowing that I have invested in my machines preservation.

I use my machine with products like Avid MC & the Adobe Suit and really keep in mind overheating and as far as I am concerned that should not be an issue. I have not done longer edits then 2 hours at a time but I have a feeling that with the lower cutouts for the bottom vents along with the mesh that separates the laptop with the exterior plastic there is room for breathing.

If you think you would like this case you will! Go out and invest in your expensive machine.

Does not fit MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015)

Just (03.25.2015) returned one of these to the store. The case seems awesome but it does not fit on a MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015). The top cover snaps on perfectly; but the bottom half remains loose and does not snap on the back(hinge axis).

    Not Good!!!

Considering the money paid for this case I expected a product which would last. Instead the corners on the bottom half started cracking after about a week and now the case doesn't even stay on as the corners have completely broken off. Bearing in mind I've only had it two months and have been very careful with my Mac, I'm pretty disappointed. Would not recommend to anyone.

    Well designed and well described

This case has been well designed and the description here is accurate.

I've only had mine on for a month, but so far so good. It fits well and does not seem to cause the Macbook Air to heat up at all, the machine that been running well and I have not noticed any additional heat.

I feel as though this case could have been improved by adding a few of extra clips to the bottom shell and a couple of extras on the top shell but other than that I think it's been well designed. I have not dropped this one yet so I can't speak for it's shock protection claims. The additional weight is noticeable but not enough that I would take it off.

I've given it 4/5 because as I said I think it could do with a few more clips but other than that I am pleased with the purchase, hopefully it can stand up to it's shock protection claims.

Amazing! Awesome! Best Case by a mile

I had to wait couple of weeks to get my hands on it. Well worth the wait. Well designed product. I think this should be the gold standard for cases for Macs. Snaps on like a charm. Super Light but very sturdy. Highly Recommend!! 5 Stars

    everything and more!

I recently bought my first MacBook pro and was really particular about keeping my MacBook safe. This case is amazing and the apple logo shines through the case really well (if you're like me and really like the apple logo, this is a big plus). Installation was easy enough, you just have to fiddle a bit when trying to lock the case in place (this doesn't effect your MacBook at all). If you're looking for a case, buy this one!

    Good not great

I purchased this after breaking two cheaper cases in three months. When comparing this to the previous
cases it is so similar in apparent quality it is tough to say for sure it will be any better; for the money it had better.I would feel more comfortable if it had a limited lifetime warranty rather than the one year.

The top and bottom fit securely and the tabs holding them on seem considerably stronger than my past cases. The feet are also good scratch resistant rubber. The rubber liner is a neat addition but I think the claims of extra protection are dubious but who want to test it out on a thousand dollar computer?

All in all the case is good but without a lifetime warranty or a lower price it is not great.

    Too heavy

Just received the case in the mail, and while I'm happy with the fit, quality and aesthetics, I'm not happy with the weight. I didn't realize just how heavy this thing actually is. The case weights .827 pounds, which increases the overall weight of the computer (13" Air) by 28%--that's a lot, at least too much for me.

If weight is not a concern of yours, then this case seems like a winner. However, because you own an Air, I presume weight is a concern...
