    Poor Design

Understandably, it does function properly. However with my circumstances, I'm always moving around with my Macbook. The wifi signal in my facilities aren't very strong, so I am to resort to this method. With that said, the adaptor itself always loses connection very easily when my MacBook moves but an inch. It would have been a very smart idea for Apple to have an integrated clip on the thunderbolt end of the adaptor, and on the MacBook itself 'inserts' for the clip to latch itself. When wireless internet fails, this minor flaw is clearly an annoyance, especially when this product is overlooked due to convenience and short term design.

works fine but it's a shame you need one

The adapter works fine connected to my macbook pro with retina display, and my macbook air, in that it allows you to plug your ethernet cable into the computer.

It's a shame however that the thunderbolt plug and socket are not nearly as sturdy as ethernet, and come out far too easily, which is very frustrating.

But the real issue is that the computer doesn't come with an ethernet port. I can understand in the case of the macbook air that they are all about thinness, and ethernet is fractionally thicker than thunderbolt. But a MacBook Pro should not be without ethernet. Professionals using these machines rely on ethernet all the time for transferring large amounts of data. The photography, film and music industries all use ethernet to transfer data to and from computers and servers. And carrying around a flimsy adapter that falls out of it's socket with a gentle nudge just isn't a viable option. But until Apple changes their "pro" design, I guess we're stuck with these silly, flimsy and overpriced things.

    works great! for a while

I got the thunderbolt adapter for my Macbook air because the place I was going to be at for a few months didn't have wifi. For the first three months of my stay I had absolutely zero trouble with it, but this past month it will occassionally disconnect but then a few minutes later will reconnect. It's been really iffy recently, and I've been a little bit concerned about plugging it into my computer. Hopefully I won't need it for too much longer, I'm not sure if it is meant to last more than a few months!

    Driver Issues

First off, this works GREAT on Mac OS X.
However, when running bootcamp, the Driver has many issues.
If it is unplugged, the computer must be restarted to connect again.
Driver, for some reason disables the computers abilt to enter sleep mode, only hibernate and shutdown

It works, but not good enough

Pros: transmission rate is high, works consistently most of the time
Cons: a lag of 30 sec to a minute before it connects to the network (can be really frustrating if you come back from a meeting and want to plug in for a quick internet connection); once in a while needs to disconnect and reconnect to refresh

I have both the USB to Ethernet and this adapter. I'd say the USB adapter is preferred unless (1) you need Gigabit ethernet, or (2) you have no spare USB port on your MacBook Pro/Air, because the USB adapter doesn't seem to work on a hub

    Very fast but.... (rMBP)

It is a very fast adapter, bought it for my rMBP to use at uni. the issue is that it falls out VERY easily, which is somewhat of an issue for me. when working at a desk its fine, but at other times it gets knocked even just a little and it disconnects and takes a while to reconnect. This is annoying!
