    Cords are Junk!

    I'm tired of replacing these adapters!! (3 times in five years)

    The thing still works, but it looks awful and I am embarassed to take my MacBook out in public. It is fraying at all connection sites (computer, and both adapter points) and is a horrible site. I keep my cords clean and rarely let them hit the floor, but the fraying happens with daily use. Why can't apple use something other than the rubber coating... perhaps a wrap that they use for power tools (they last much longer). I am on my third Power adapter in five years... just because they look so bad!

    I echo rest of the reviews... I do not want to purchase a piece junk AGAIN for the third time because Apple can't seem to improve on their product with major issues. When the cord cover tears (not at all mistreated) and wires are so easily exposed, that's a major hazard that can easily lead to lawsuits. Very unhappy and dissatisfied with this Apple product.

    Really Bad Quality

    I'm about to purchase my second Power adapter because less than a year into using my first one, (purchased in late 2015 btw, and I only started using it consistently in early 2017), it was yellowing and fraying to no end. Eventually, the rubber tore right open and it stopped working on my Macbook Pro completely. I wish I got to experience having an older model of a MagSafe because apparently, they outlast some of these trashier newer models. Replacing this thing has been months in the making, as this student life does not come with enough deposable income to replace a broken laptop charger :( 3/10

    Utter Garbage

    The rubber on the cord seems to be made of the chewed gum of Apple execs and starts to deteriorate less than a year after purchasing. Don't purchase it from them, buy it from somewhere else and don't give them money for a consistently faulty product that they will not replace.

    3 Cords In Two Years! Garbage.

    Another one here with a split cord -- 3rd one in one year! I travel with my MacBook and so am always on the go with this. While the machine itself has been working perfectly since 2014 the cord is garbage, having the same problems as everyone else here: Rubber splits apart, wires exposed and frayed. I am now about to order my FOURTH cord and am not buying a Mac cord again. I'd rather chance it with a $25 secondary market cord or used from Ebay. Come on Apple read your reviews.

    Dangerous sub standard product avoid at all cost

    This product should come with a health warning, poorly constructed and not designed to last. Reading through the countless reviews that all state pretty much the same this is a very poor show. I’ve just noticed that mine has started to fray on the lead that comes directly out from the power block, this could cause a fire or worse electrocution. I’ve looked online and Amazon sell chargers which look far more robust and only cost £19.99 with an 18 month warranty included along with fantastic reviews. How come Apple are unable to do this?

    0 STAR Garbage cord

    This cord is the epitimy of what a quality cord should be. I think I have a better chance of getting better quality at the local "Five Below". It is ridiculous what Apple charges for their electronics and accessories to begin with and then you get a cord like this that doesn't last more than a year. My first one I had got warranted because it was ion the first year. But that meant a 2.5 hour round trip to the Apple store. Now less than a year later again a ripped cord. What a joke. I thought the old saying went "You got what you pay for"?? Because we sure pay for it at apple but we don't all get it.

    These are horrible. They break first at the point where the cord joins to the magsafe plug, the plastic tearing away and then the wires breaking. If this reinforced then the plastic tears up at random places on the cord. I am ordering the 3rd charger for my computer; my daughter is on her third, and my grandson is on his second or third. It would not be so bad if apple would sell them at cost, acknowledging the failure rate. This money matters to me.

    Apple's corporate arrogance is astounding (I say this as a long-term mac person, an apple user since the Apple 2c). Any other company would have addressed a long-standing problem years ago, but the fact that they don't shows a casual disregard for their customers. Any other company would have responded to negative reviews with apologies and a fix. These reviews drop into a black hole.

    Lousy, Cheap cords

    Always have been of fan of Apple designs and products. However, the cord engineer(s) should be FIRED. Whether its the MacBook Power Adapter or iPhone cord, the point where the cord enters the supply ALWAYS breaks down. Again, ALWAYS! Junk! There is no other way to describe the product. #Disappointed

    This is the 2nd time my MagSafe2 charger has packed up on me . The cable has frayed in a couple of places and is showing the wire.I now have to pay another £79 for yet another cheaply made piece of rubbish to get my £1500 lap top working once again .Looking at all of the negative comments on here regarding the poor build quality of the MagSafe 2 power chargers i would have thought someone at Apple would be looking at this and thinking ...This is not very good for our product build image . But i guess we support Apple by having to buy chargers that most likely cost a couple of dollars to make in China. Wake Up Apple and give us some proper customer service. Disgusting ..

    I have bought this exact charge 5 times, it usually breaks within the year, IF I'm lucky, even as I speak my computer is dying because my charger broke, forcing me to buy another. 0/10.

    Just like all Apple power cords

    Apple makes a great product and they are ALWAYS trying to one up themselves with their iGadgets, HOWEVER they need to spend some money to figure out a way to make a good power cord. It is bad enough the iphone cables only last 4-6 weeks, but so do the cords on these Macbook adapters. This will be my 3rd replacement in 3 years. I still have my Dell Laptop cable and laptop from 2006 and never had to replace the adapter. UGH!

    Shame that I'm one of the several hundred customers who have had to replace this cord multiple times. Apple needs to build a better product or drastically lower the price on this...
