    Be sure before you buy

    • Written by thomas Y from Lake Toxaway

We bought this adapter two weeks ago for a trip to Italy. We stayed in two very nice hotels. This adapter did not fit in any outlet, and we tried them everywhere. Not one. Fortunately we happened to have brought another generic adapter that did work. Please be very sure the adapter works in your locations, Italy not so well. Back home and happier.

How is this supposed to fit an iPod, iPad or iPhone charger?

    • Written by David W from Ajax

The receptacles (input sockets) on each of the adapter units are designed to accommodate a MacBook charger only. The pins on both my iPad Air and my iPhone 6s chargers don't fit in the receptacles at all. I'm really disappointed and frustrated that this is not explained in the product description or shown on the portion of the product packaging that's displayed on the Apple website. Nor is it clear from examining the box before you open it. Now I've opened it, it's totally useless (unless you need it for a MacBook), and I can't even return it for a refund.

    This kit is problematic

    • Written by E A D from London

First of all, there are seven different adapters in this box, including one for the UK, which doesn't make sense, given that it's sold in the UK. Anyway, I only need an adapter for North America, not the whole world. So now I have 6 adapters that are totally useless to me. I've had to pay £25 for the use of one adapter, which is a tiny piece of plastic with two bits of metal and weighs a couple of grams. Crazy. The second issue is that the adapter doesn't have a cord! It attaches to the power box, which then gets plugged directly into the socket, so the big power box goes straight into the socket and the total length of cord is now halved. Insane! Before buying this product, I phoned customer service and stated specifically three times that I needed a Power Adapter Extension Cable (the exact name used on the website), but with prongs for North America. She said what I needed is the multi-prong adapter kit. Well, actually, it turns out to not be what I need. So I've made a long journey into London and battled heaving throngs of people to buy something that isn't what I asked for, and now have to go all the way back into London to return it. I am not pleased. I am leaving the country in two days and I don't have time for this hassle! Please advise your customer service people better, offer the option of buying only one adapter as needed, and please attach a cord!!

Take great exception to the "Don't complain" reviewer

    • Written by Tom E from Jackson Heights

The product description is indeed extremely misleading. I quote "The kit is designed to work with iPod, iPhone, and iPad." No indication that the converters only fit the MagSafe Power Converters. I bought the adapters for a trip to Ireland with my girlfriend. I thought I had done well. Luckily, I opened a box a few hours before our flight, and realized that they were not compatible with the iPhone 5 charger. Went to an Apple Store, and they were totally clueless about how to help me. Only one of the employees knew that I needed an additional converter (not mentioned on any of the product information online), and, of course, the store didn't have one! So, luckily, I was able to find plug adapters at a very good electronics store and saved the day! Extremely doubtful if I will will ever buy an Apple accessory again-sure, the simple package design might be aesthetically pleasing, but it is often at the expense of necessary information.

    No US Ground Prong

    • Written by Scott D from Murfreesboro

I can't recommend this product because it lacks the 3 prong grounded plug for the USA, which I need to eliminate noise coming from the headphone jack while recording my guitar into a USB port and charging the MacBook at the same time.

Ok, I admit I didn't read through the entire description. I guess when I read "World" travel adapter kit I assumed that would include Africa. It is an entire continent! Fail

    DO NOT PURCHASE

    • Written by Arianna P from Fairfield

I LOVE apple products! I have not bought anything else in the last (around) 10 years, but this is arguably the WORST thing I have spent my money on. I never write reviews for products (this is my first one) but I have had a terrible experience. Luckily I had an adapter for Italy and my dad had lent me his old iPhone charger or else I would not have been able to charge my laptop. This kit did NOTHING. I tried all the plugs and none of them fit. Also my roommate had just taken the one for italy (since the box says that that one is good for "continental europe" but she hasnt been able to fit her plug into the outlet here in italy. I rarely say that anything is a waste of money (it may not work 100% as planned or something like that), but this is 100% a WASTE OF MONEY!!!! buy an adapter somewhere for less than $20 and plug you apple charge into that. I haven't had problems yet, regardless of what apple store employees tell you.

    Misleading Item Description

    • Written by Anne P from Edmonton

I am one of the many who were disappointed with this product. It does not include USB ports which makes it unusable for iPhone. Yes, I could have found this out if I had read more of the reviews before I ordered it, but I trusted the description provided by Apple instead. I received it just before my trip and was unable to return it because by the time I got home more than 15 days had elapsed. I ended up borrowing others' adapters in Germany and buying one in UK. Lesson learned.

    Purchased this for a trip

    • Written by Stephen K from New York

This adapter is poorly made and described to me as a replacement for power adapter. Very difficult to change plugs and just plastic junk. Apple should be ashamed. Not usable,

    No ground!

    • Written by Gokul K from Sunnyvale

The plugs for asian sockets do not have the third prong (ground). It would not have been very difficult to add the middle ground prong to the plugs. I am sitting here in India getting shocked by my metal laptop as I am typing.

Why should I buy a full set?

    • Written by Maria V from Brooklyn

I don't travel all around the world, and where I do travel, I only need one type of adaptor (and I go there a lot). Consequently, if I lose it, or simply want an extra one, I have to buy another set and double the number of those other adaptors I don't need. I appreciate the quality as compared to the generic versions, but making me buy lots of extra stuff I don't need is a Walgreens approach.

Need several of 1 particular adapter for various Apple devices

    • Written by Thomas C from Hong Kong

I have several Apple devices to travel with me (iphone, ipad, airport express, macbook air, etc.), and I usually go to 1 or 2 specific country for leisure and business. This kit is a great package but it is not sufficient when we need several of one for use in a particular destination, unless we buy several of this kit. Then, the rest would become a waste. So, I wish Apple could also sell the adapters individually, or even 3 in 1 package.

    Redundant plugs...

    • Written by Scott I from Jupiter

Three of these plugs are the same, though the box says one is for Europe, one is for Korea, and one is for Brazil. I can’t speak for Brazil, but I know Korea uses European plugs.

There are also two North American plugs, but the box says one is for North America (which is correct) but that the other is for China... Um...I’ve been to China and while some outlets accommodate North American plugs, most take European or Australian plugs.

So...whatever. I imagine they’ll work, but I would have rather bought these plug adapters separately to avoid redundancy.

Comprehensive collection of adapters but missing THE essential component for iPod,iphone etc...the USB block. My phone etc is supplied with a compact uk plug which does not have the removable pin block so I now need to buy a 12v USB power adapter to use the traveller kit adding a further £19 to the cost :(

    Great for global travel

    • Written by Deborah M from Solihull

Nice sturdy chargers but it's not obvious you need to buy the additional charger block (the bit that holds the USB) on top of this box. As the other reviewer said, a pouch to hold all the parts would be helpful, but I am overall very pleased with the set. The countries that the charger is to be used in, is marked in tiny writing on each of the Chargers so there's no doubt which one should be packed.

I'd have also paid extra to have the UK folding pins plug included in this set, as would be more helpful for travel for me.

    Great Kit

    • Written by ANDREW S from BODMIN

This is a well made kit with a good global selection of plugs, all made to high standards.

Now without cable (as we all have them already anyway!).

To make this kit even better I think they should include a car adapter (or at least make one seperate!) and also a carrying bag (a simple drawstring bag would be fine).

This kit is now £25 instead of £35 but including the extras would have made it 5 stars!!!

    European Travelers

    • Written by Nathan T from Hoboken

For the reviewers in Italy and Switzerland you just need a little enginurity and it works great. This is because Italy (L) and CH(J) have minor variations on the normal europe plug (C) and even Poland and Germany have E and F variations, but as someone who has family in all those places, these plugs work fine every single time. If you happen to come across an L or a J that has a safety, push it in with a paperclip and the safety will open and since the middle one is ground you are ok. If you encounter an older (E F) - non europlug (C) the same is true, it always works, just means you have to be creative with the positioning.

As for the hotel people in one review saying "this isnt swiss", well, not sure what to say, if that hotel has a normal J type this adapter fits perfectly. Unless your hotel has the very outdated type 14 socket, which I'd be slightly affraid of, and I doubt you encountered a type 15 or Type 23. I'm guessing you didnt bring the right one. I've been to Switzerland 6 times in the last 2 months, worked every single time.
