    Does NOT work IOS 11

    • Written by Douglas M from Houston

Tried on multiple devices (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) at Apple Store on IOS 11.2.x. The Apple Store guy plugged in my 2 test SD cards into a MacBook and they both were reading fine and he could clearly see my Sd cards both had jpg and mp4 content on them. The only thing the photo app does is open to a blank screen to import photos. Worthless, let’s get this fixed Apple, why even stock this item in your store.

Only Apple could get away with something so useless

    • Written by Robert S from AUSTIN

So dumbed down that it is nearly useless.

    1. Can only be used by photo app.
    2. Cannot see directory/file structure of card.
    3. Cannot write to card.
    4. Cannot import or even see files on card that aren't named a certain way.

Received today and was excited to try it out with my trail cam pictures. Video pictures will not play and the still pictures will show some, but not all. Wasted my money and disappointed in Apple. Tried in my ipad mini and iphone7plus

Why do they advertise this as working on ipad pro?

    • Written by Daniel K from Tomball

I bought it from Apple and it wasn't cheap. So I would expect it to work. But this SD card reader doesn't work on the new iPad Pro 10.5 and it doesn't work on the iphone 6s Plus. Both running the latest iOS 11. Pure garbage from a decaying company? Is really Apple getting that bad at customer service that they ignore this details on accessories that don't work?

    Apple SD card reader

    • Written by George M. S from Battle Creek

Well, I received this for Christmas and expected this reader to work. My buddy bought an off brad from Walmart that worked great last fall. He downloaded an app and was rolling in about three minutes. This lightening adapter SD reader looked nearly identical.

Actual performance was horrible. You couldn’t scan the pictures before uploading. Thumbnails you can’t enlarge just don’t cut it. Once uploaded, the pictures are cropped randomly and distorted. This was a huge disappointment. Seriously, SD card readers have been around for years and Apple couldn’t get such a simple thing right?

In short, not convenient, effective, functional or recommended.

Can't believe Apple put out a product like this - STAY AWAY,,,

    • Written by Douglas K from Gainesville

I cannot believe Apple put out a product like this. It's complete garbage. It will not work with my iPad Pro, or my iPhone 8, or my iPhone 6 Plus. It is definitely a genuine Apple product so don't buy that excuse from Apple when they try to make that claim. I still have the box and it definitely came from Apple.

Apple this product like this is beneath you. STOP DOING A MICROSOFT IMITATION AND FIX YOUR ISSUE!!!!!

    Not working

    • Written by Timothy O from West Point

I bought this item to view/edit trail cam pictures. I have not had any issues with the import process, but my issue is once the phot(s) import. Once my pictures import to my phone, they appear cropped or zoomed to where the full picture is not viewable. I spent 3 hours on the phone with 2 Apple techs and it was determined that my sd reader may be bad. They sent me a brand new one and I still have the same issues. I've checked every setting I can think of on my phone. I've tried it on 2 other devices and the pictures are the same (cropped/zoomed). Very frustrating. Will be trying to send all products back.

A useless product, not worth the money of Apple

    • Written by Nhân T from HCM

I use the Ricoh GR2 to transfer photos using the camera's wifi very slowly, so I bought the Lightning SD cable. It is so disappointing that the image from the card copied to the iPhone or iPad can not be used, they are compressed to burst the image blur and sharp. I'd rather spend some time messing with wifi than using this cable.

Only moves files on iPad, not off??

    • Written by Jennifer W from Moab

Couldn't be more disappointed. I have a 12 mp camer on my iPad and use it to photo items I sell online. I had to manually download them (over 5,000 items) to my mac, then to sd card because it will only import photos not export? Why wouldn't this item just create a new folder that you can move items in and out of? Ridiculous that it only imports. Disappointed in apple for an such an incompetent product.

Does not work with drone pictures/video

    • Written by Benjamin O from Lakeville

We purchased this to view Hubsan drone footage without hauling the laptop computer around. Because the files are not saved in a DCIM folder, this Apple product does not work and is useless. We are returning it.

    Fix in next IOS

    • Written by Brian B from Taylorville

My SD reader has very spotty performance to say the least. It is frequent for the import tab to not pop up when I connect the reader. When the tab does pop up, it's hard telling if it will load the photo previews. I've found that larger cards or cards with more files tend to perform worse. Apple, please improve the compatibility and performance of this product soon! Up to this point, purchasing this item has been a regret!

    It doesn't work

    • Written by Bar A from telav iv

It was bought to transfer photos and videos to iPad for further processing or review. It literally worked once for the first time and died. Now it is not recognised on any of compatible iPad/iPhones and I tried everything possible to make it work. Reformatting the SD card, on computer, on camera, putting in, removing waiting 30secs like they recommend and insert again, restarting iDevice ... nothing. It simply died for no reason. No physical damage what so ever no scratch or even banding, preserved perfectly. No SD card problem either. Same SD card works on computer, tried different card, nothing helps. I did not buy Apple products to experience such problems. Even when it worked the first time it was super slow and no ability view big previews before importing. This is so poor performance and it makes this unreliable device actually useless peace of plastic. What has happened with Apple values ... very sad and disappointed.

Used to kind of work but is now LITERALLY USELESS

    • Written by Brent J from Colorado Springs

I bought this about 2.5 years ago. Using it was a slow, painful, glitchy experience that left my photos in an inconvenient location with atrocious naming conventions. Today, I plugged it in to my iPhone X running IOS 12 and... nothing happened. I have tried every variety of plugging and unplugging, etc. and my phone will not even recognize that the device/SD card is attached. It is completely unresponsive, and therefore useless. I was seriously considering purchasing an iPad to start editing photos on while I travel, but if I cannot import photos from a memory card that idea is hopeless.

    Doesn't work with new ipad

    • Written by Anna P from Welshpool

    Rubbish.
Spent a huge amount of cash on new ipad pro with the express intention of using the SD card for work - but guess what - it doesn't work!
It works on my iPhone SE but it would seem the ios on the new ipad pro is not compatible. Deep joy :-(
Does anyone know if apple are going to remedy this or do I need to return it??
