    Very limited functionality

    • Written by Theodore J from Athens

I use it to transfer photos (JPGs) from a Nikon DSLR to an iPhone, and that's all it can do for me. I would like to pull in RAW (NEF) files for manipulating on the iPhone, but this reader will not allow me to see them. Oh, well - just one more way that Apple infantilizes us.

    Stopped Working With iOS Update

    • Written by Brian R from San Angelo

This was working fine. iOS updated and now when I try to import the photos that are shown to be on the card, my screen will just go black as the phone is downloading the photos. There is no rhyme or reason for this to happen out of the blue when it was working flawlessly before. Please address this issue, Apple.

SD card reader-works on iPhone X

    • Written by Ted B from Lebanon

Bought card reader to view game camera pictures. Works perfect for my application. Select and download to my iPhone X. Had a knock off cable that I used on the iPhone 6 but it wouldn't work on new phone. The Apple product works fine.

    Uploads made easy

    • Written by Sheree C from Glenning Valley

I purchased this product to transfer photos from my GoPro micro sd card to my phone as the GoPro app can be temperamental when pairing wirelessly at times. I avoided having to upload pictures to my mac then back to my phone for things like Instagram uploads.
Simple and easy to use, I placed the micro sd card into the sd card adapter so it would fit then into the lightning sd card reader, connected it to my iPhone and imported all my photos from the sd card to my phone within a few seconds.
I would recommend this for people who use different types of cameras and want to upload the images to their device quickly and effortlessly.

    Works Great. Very Happy!

    • Written by John R from Melbourne

Prior to heading out to buy the Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader I thought I would check the reviews on the Apple website. Even thought the cost involved (A$45) is not great I didn't want to waste my time and money buying something that may not work as intended. Having read so many negative reviews I almost didn't bother making the purchase. However, I needed a way to easily transfer photos from my Samsung NX300M digital camera to my 12.9 inch 1st Gen iPad and my iPhone 6 Plus. Both devices are running the very latest version of iOS. I must say I was super impressed with how easy everything worked and the speed at which my pictures and videos transferred to my iPhone and iPad. I have no idea why so many people have given this product a 1 star rating. I don't doubt that they are not happy with the product but all I can say is that for me - it works great and I'm very happy!

    Possible Work Around

    • Written by Joshua K from Ames

I have an iphone 5c running IOS 10.3.3. I had the same problems as a few other people. The first time I plugged in the card reader it worked correctly and every time after it tells me the device is not supported. BUT I found that if I follow these steps it works:

Make sure the card reader has been unplugged for at least 30 seconds

    1) Open the photo app (the one that comes preloaded on the iphone)
    2) Insert the SD card into the card reader
    3) Plug in the card reader with the SD card already inserted

When I do this the card reader seems to work correctly, I can upload photos and delete them from the card.
Hopefully at least a couple other people have the same luck as me.

It's not just the new one that doesn't work

    • Written by Bryan M from Sewanee

It's not just the new one that doesn't work. I have an older SD card reader that used to work fine on my 12.9" iPad Pro Second gen. After upgrading to iOS 11.2, it usually does not work with the error that this device is not supported.

“This accessory is not supported (anymore???) by this iPad” (iOS 11.2.1)

    • Written by Sofoklis K from Docklands

I bought the Camera Connection kit a few years ago (the 30 pin version) and when the lightning connector was introduced, I bought a lightning to 30 pin adapter from Apple.
The Camera Connection kit was working without issues all this time, until I tried it on iOS 11.2.1 and 11.2.5 beta.
I’m constantly getting the message “This accessory is not supported by this iPad”. (IPad Air 2 on iOS 11.2.5 beta1)
I tried it on my iPhone 7 Plus on iOS 11.2.1 with the same result.
I formatted the SD Card in the camera just in case although the last time it was also formatted in the camera and again the same result.
Then I tried to connect it to my older iPhone 5 on iOS 10.3.3 and to my surprise it worked just fine!!!
Apple just killed their own accessory!!
I’won’t be surprised if a new SD Card reader is introduced soon to replace this jus so we spend more money to buy again the same things over and over!!!
    Totally disappointed!!!

    Does NOT work IOS 11

    • Written by Douglas M from Houston

Tried on multiple devices (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) at Apple Store on IOS 11.2.x. The Apple Store guy plugged in my 2 test SD cards into a MacBook and they both were reading fine and he could clearly see my Sd cards both had jpg and mp4 content on them. The only thing the photo app does is open to a blank screen to import photos. Worthless, let’s get this fixed Apple, why even stock this item in your store.

Completely disappointed. Can’t wait to get a windows laptop

    • Written by James W from Guelph

I photograph Jr and Varsity Volleyball. I used my iPad constantly to dump my pics onto, screen them, and then upload to my sales sight. Now it is a complete and utter hassle since the ios11 update. 100 photos, give or take, into importing Photos crashes, looses track of what is loaded, creates multiple last imported. Never was a huge fan that iPad doesn’t allow the viewing of photo sizes, names, dates but now with the crashing I’’m P’d off that I spent the money I did on this AppPad. A fix can’t come soon enough.

    Works good

    • Written by Celeena G from Belen

I use this to import pictures that I have taken with my g7x and Nikon dslr to my phone. My pictures still look like really good quality and the videos. Even though I’m updated on the latest iOS I haven’t experienced any problems such as others have wrote about. I keep it with me in my purse just Incase. (Cause I take more pictures on my point and shoot camera than my phone)
I noticed for some reason when I had a Sony camera the pictures wouldn’t import and also was unable to import pictures from my address card from like 8 years ago that was taken on a 10 year old camera. So I’m wondering if it depends works better or for pictures or videos taken in a certain format. But anyway those cameras I don’t use much however if it did I would give it five stars.

Used to Love this Product Now its terrible

    • Written by Sean B from Embrun

I use multiple different types of trail cameras and have used this card reader in the woods for years... Never had issues until this year!!!!!
its hit and miss. Sometimes it reads the photos but most of the time the IPhone 7 says that "This device is not supported"
THIS DRIVES ME INSANE when I'm in the woods I have no other option to view my pics so I will likely have to switch products if this issue isn't fixed soon. I use these for business and I have 7 iPhones and 5 iPads which I replace often......

From what I understand this is a pretty basic product and should be fairly simple for Apple to Repair

please let me know when it is fixed

    Very Satisfied.

    • Written by Robert A from Peoria

I purchased this after reading the reviews and realizing that most people, for what ever reason are having issues. I have at the time of this post copied and edited over 100 RAW photos with zero issues. I’m using a 5th Generation iPad that is on the current iOS (11.1.2).

I’m not quite sure why people have been having so many issues but based off of my experience there are none. It is a simple peripheral that is doing as specified.

It deserves a higher rating than it has received.

What is this wasted device in my pocket?

    • Written by Thakorn J from Kannayao

I have this lightning to SD Card adapter for half a year and has been using it frequently with my Ipad PRO 12.9 64GB model. I love it so much, because I can show a high resolution image to my clients on site. But after I updated to this new version of OS it’s no longer working not even detected the device. I was panicking if things was broken down or something, but when I do some searching and reading it seem a lot of apple device have this problem after the updated.

I’ve try every way possible to fix this problem even reset my ipad setting once but still no hope. So I hope apple will look at this seriously and fixing this soon, I mean it has been working just fine on my Iphone 6 running 11.0.3 i even test import on it and it work just fine!

here is my set up for those who want to know
Camera : Nikon D810 shoot in RAW, JPG, TIFF, uncompress raw( none of it work it must be the OS rather than the camera)
APPLE DEVICE : Ipad pro 12.9 wifi 64GB

I give this 1 star since IT IS YOUR OFFICIAL PRODUCT AND IT DIDN’T WORK!

This was working fine last night on my 8+, suddenly today it isn’t reading any of my cards. Is there going to be a fix for this? Clearly I’m not the only one experiencing issues with the reader.

Works with 5th gen iPad and iOS11

    • Written by Simon O from Dundalk

I was a little anxious before buying this as I had seen a lot of reports that it had stopped working after the upgrade to iOS10.3.2. After an online chat with Emmet at Apple Support, I was reassured and purchased the reader. It worked first time. Mind you, I have not tried anything complicated, just reading pictures, and video clips, from the SD cards of a pair of Nikon cameras into the Photos app.
My iPad is a Model A1822 running iOS 11.03
