    Echoing most of the poor reviews already made on this little adaptor, its very poor quality with no durability. Apple really dropped the ball when changing the earphone jack point.

    Shonky technology, shonky quality

    Apple ditching the 3.5mm jack socket was a major step backwards. Now I've got to use this overpriced rubbish adapter cable that becomes detached, is easily lost and is completely unnecessary. This is a massive price for a little cable and Apple can only charge this because ... there is simply no alternative.

    Don't expect it to last long either, I'm on my third so far. Or was that the idea all along Apple?

    So disappointed!

    I bought 2 of these at the Apple Store at $9 each and neither of them work. I have confirmed it is the adapters themselves and not my phone or the headphones I am trying to use. What a pain it will be to return to the Apple Store and get these returned for replacement adapters which will be broken when new like these were or will break within the first few months of use. So disappointed in this product and that Apple removed the headphone jack.

    I must have gone through 3 of these in the past 4-5 months. I cannot explain the amount of frustration I feel when I am trying to use my headphones but instead have to deal with random skipping, siri, and pausing without my control. I am beyond disappointed with Apple. I have been using Apple products for easily 13 years and have never dealt with such a major issue. The functionality is absolutely terrible and so incredibly inconvenient. I have never thought about using a non-Apple phone before but now I am starting to because of this issue. I did not realize how common this problem is until I saw all the reviews. Shame on you, Apple!

    Horrible Product, Doesn't Last

    I'm on my third lightning adapter since April. They don't last more than 2-3 months and are very cheaply made. Very annoying and inconvenient to get fixed so frequently; I hope Apple improves the quality of this product.

    Everyone has missed the point of this product

    For what this accessory is meant to do I give it a 5 star rating because it does exactly what it’s made for, controlling output. The fact that the majority of people gave this a 1 star is idiotic. The only purpose of this accessory is to transfer the audio from old earbuds or headsets with a female adapter head. How can you expect this cheap device that was made for one purpose to do all these advanced things that Bluetooth devices or directly plugged in devices can do ex. iPhone 6’s direct audio port. The iPhone’s direct ports are what allows the device to control it not the adapter. So when using the adapter it overrides the iphones control and only transfers the audio, it doesn’t input the signal from a mic, only outputs sound. I have a pair of bass boosted earbuds that work perfectly with this accessory although the earbuds don’t have a mic only inline pause and skip button. The audio pauses and skips because that is the purpose of the accessory to control the sound being output. The accessory has no input driver and won’t have it because that’s not it’s purpose so don’t rate this a one star because you couldn’t understand why it doesn’t have an unintended use.

    These things are rubbish

    I have never bought something so dreadful. They are actually shocking. To think apple have the audacity to sell these things is beyond me. Unfortunately you can’t rate this 0 stars, but I wish you could. If you have half a brain cell, you would not buy this. SERIOUSLY, DO NOT BUY THIS.

    Awful quality

    The fact that you have to buy one of these separately after already spending £1000 on an iPhone Xs is terrible. The only thing worse is the actual quality if these, I don't think it's going to last even 3 months! I'd give it zero stars if it were possible.

    Been through two of these in the last two months. Outrageously bad quality. Same problem with both. Works for a while then starts to randomly skip, pause, open Siri etc. Will be in the shop to demand a new one today. Didn’t even ask for this change!!

    Not worth it anymore

    The most frustrating thing on a flight is having your headphones break on the plane just before you take off... just kidding... what’s worse is having your stupid “dongle” break on a plane. At least you can buy other headphones. This stupidly unnecessary cord is extremely unreliable. I am selling my I phone and getting a Samsung. I am so displeased of apples descision to remove the headphone jack. I have maybe spent more than $100 in half the year buying replacement dongles for my stupid phone. All of which break. I bought a new one on Friday and it’s already broken. It’s now Tuesday. Do not buy this product. Get a new phone from a company who cares about the convienience of their customers.

    All adapter stop working in a few days

    I have an iPhone 8 plus. I tried many adapters from several manufacturers ( Apple and others) but they all stop working after a few days.

    headphone jack adapter

    Want to give Zero stars. Simply does not work. When plugged into music jack, nothing comes out (and I tried different systems). Have been a faithful Apple user for a decade. Can't understand how this flawed devise and can be marketed by Apple..The new iphone does not provide a jack option...why???

    Pointless idea in terms of necessity and functionality. Poor design. You will lose it and have to replace it all too often. You all really messed up with this one. Zero stars. Android is looking more and more appealing.

    Its is ridiculous that if you forgot the adapter or lost it you cant use headphones.
    This take away points to the iphone. Istead of making it more innovative and friendly, Apple makes it more complicated.

    This product when I ordered it did not work on my phone at all however worked on my older and younger sisters phone and they have the same as me a iPhone 7. Also worked on my friends phone. Apple you need to fix this as I wasted £9 which I could of saved and gotten the EarPods with lightning cord.

    Broke in less than a week

    I upgraded from an iPhone 6s to the X a few days ago and unboxed the phone, dongle and headphones rather promptly. Shortly after i began to listen to music, i noticed a slight quality change but it wasnt to a high enough degree to bother me to a great extendt but is still something i would have hoped to not happen considering they are at the heart a TECHNOLOGY company. I have been using this dongle as much as i would normally (as if i were usong my usual headphones on my old phone) and after only 6 days the dongle has broken causing it to no longer pick up vocals on ANY app or platform including audio.. Thank you so much Apple for not only taking away the possibility to use 3.5mm jack headphones but replacing it with a flimsy and weak wire thats longevity is abysmal and disgusting from a company who say they respect their customers and believe they are providing “good quality” products.

    I would give an honest review of 0/5 however this is not possible so i must settle for 1.
