    Breaks constantly

    • Written by Alan J from Herlev

I've been through three of these in less than a month now. They can't handle being stuffed in a pocket (trousers, jackets or even bags), as the slightest pressure or twist will trigger skips, rewinds, volume changes, playback speed changes, and any other random action you can imagine.
It is not possible to use this for listening to music, or audiobooks, or radio or talking on the phone (it'll randomly hang up as well). Well, you can if you stand perfectly still. I can't put it in my jacket pocket and walk calmly around without expecting this behavior, which is a disaster since it makes the iPhone 7 completely useless if you want to use any corded earpiece.

Very bad product! Deteriorates the usability of the iPhone dramatically!

    Apple - are you serious???

    • Written by Lisa C from BOYNTON BEACH

When the adapter works and does not have static, this adapter completely eliminates the sound quality in my $300 BOSE headphones. I have gone through 3 adapters (thinking I just got a lemon) and it has been the same. Apple owes us an explanation and a quick fix... I am ready to sell my iphone 7 and go back to my iphone 6s because of this.

    New Innovation for inconvenience

    • Written by Kumar G from baltimore

IPhone's new innovation proved to be failure since new innovation is oriented for convenience and easy but without jack port iPhone 7 series are very inconvenient. Listening music and charging is not possible at once. No compatible with third party headphone. Need to carry audio adapter wherever and wherever you go.Its really hard.

    Horrible !!!

    • Written by Ellis Z from Buford

Can't find a pair of headphones to use with this dongle that doesn't pop and fade out over and over. Also, the inline mic on most of my headphones stop functioning with the dongle.

Quite simply: The dongle doesn't work right. You will NOT be able to use standard headphones with your iPhone 7. I'll have to listen to music on a different device. I hate to bash a product from Apple, but this is among the worst things they've ever released. Regret at least the audio part of the iPhone 7 Plus. (Love the camera, but what a horrible trade-off.)

Apple: This dongle is a bad product that does NOT work as advertised.

2 days and I already regret requesting for this phone for work.

    • Written by Frank M from NY

charge or listen, you can't do both. my $450 sennheiser ie80 headphones rendered useless after leaving the dongle at work, sure that's my fault but still. what's not my fault is trying to use an inline mic to make a call while riding in the car it didn't work at all! I only wanted the iphone 7 because of its waterproof ability while I'm biking or running but for day to day use I regret my decision 100%.

    Not at all bad

    • Written by Steve A from Brighton

I was surprised by the number of negative reviews posted here for the headphone jack adaptor, and because of them I expected to have a similar experience, but I tried it out with my Sennheiser PX200-11 on-ear headphones and it worked just fine, the sound quality was perfectly acceptable and way more listenable than the tinny sound coming from the iphone's own speakers. The one criticism I would make would be about the price I would be asked to pay if I wanted to purchase one or more spares, in case I lose this one, but luckily there are a few cheaper alternatives out there.

    Unacceptable music quality

    • Written by Zsolt E from Budapest

Upgraded from iPhone 6 to iPhone 7, and immediately noticed when listening to music this adapter totally kills music quality, no matter which music app you are using (like Apple Music or Tidal). The bass is eliminated, mid ranges are flat, and the whole sound stage is gone. It is like you are listening to a musical concert from a very far distance. I simply don't understand how could Apple release such a horrible made thing with a high quality and expensive mobile phone. I had to buy an external DAC to be able listening music again on iPhone 7.

Does not allow inline phone control, BUT...

    • Written by Gregory D from Minneapolis

For great respectable sound quality and sheer ease of use travel with this adapter, the tiny DAC inside the Lightning connector does a an amazing job!

While my phone recharges I like going to sleep listening to my iPhone with my Bowers & Wilkins P-7s (which I bought thru Apple). Now I can't. I have to make a choice to listen or to recharge but not both. This is a serious inconvenience and one I did not realize I'd have to make when I upgraded my iPhone to a 7.

Moreover the listening experience is now compromised due to pops and static that was not there before. Also I cant manage a phone call with the P-7's built-in mic. anymore.

The music vs recharge is one thing, but when I loose sound fidelity on a premium headphone that is quite another. Especially when Apple sold me those expensive headphones for use with an iPhone in the first place.

Can't fix the listen vs. recharge without a new redesigned phone, but the adapter's sound issues should be an Apple priority. As long as I can't enjoy my B&Ws I'm doing a long slow burn that wont play out nicely when I think about buying Apple again.

    Saved my 5s from retirement

    • Written by Sean M from Victoria

Now into its 4th year of service the headphone jack stopped working on my 5s. I use it daily in my car as an Aux and with headphones. I was considering that it might be time to upgrade when i realized the new phones don't come with a headphone jack... and there lied the solution! For $10 I was back in action! Plus... I'm impressed how it grabs onto the headphones making it almost part of the headphones. I'll probably invest in one more so I don't have to remove it and swap it all the time but i'm impressed all around.
Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is not having a way to charge the phone and plug in headphones at the same time. The old 5s battery isn't what it once was. Stil...l such a good phone!

    • Written by Liane M from South Grafton

I have already lost my adapter for my phone and now I can't use my aux cord. They charge so much for the phones its ridiculous I have to buy another one. It also didn't work well with the microphone on my 3rd party headphones.

    • Written by Lauren F from Port washington

My adapter broke after 1 week and I've gone through two more since then. Big mistake taking away iPhone jack as this is a huge inconvenience,
Especially after paying $799 for a phone. Please apple get it together and bring the innovation back, removing the headphone jack is anything but innovative. Not to mention, the ear buds were delayed in release. Please get it together and release a better product, this is just shameful.

    $9 of Worthless

    • Written by Eric Q from Virginia Beach

I won't act appalled that Apple doesn't care what we think. No better than the knock offs. I want LOUD, which I can't get with bluetooth, and this dongle provides that... along with crackles, pops, and a good dose of buyer's remorse.

Causes the cable to become really entangled

    • Written by Kasper V from København S

Causes the headphone cable to become extremely entangled. Much more than when just using the standard 3.5 plug found on other phones. Not a very good solution. The design is also quite clunky.
