Very Pleased with my iPad Smart Keyboard

    • Written by Jason B from Cameron

I rarely write a product review but for this particular product I wanted to take the time and do so. I have had my Smart Keyboard for about 6 months and I absolutely must say that it was worth the purchase. I am an Active Duty Army Officer and work on the go a great deal. The iPad with Smart Keyboard is without question a productivity enable for me. I have written complete Drafts of papers, Orders, and Briefing Slides. It is almost as effective as being in an Office with full IT Suite, but unlike being in an Office I can pickup and move within seconds. I highly recommend this product to anyone that lives/works in similar conditions.

    Poor quality

    • Written by Clarence W from Edmonton

I bought this keyboard with high hopes. However, it has been the worst Apple product I have used to date. The keyboard worked well for 6 months, then I had connectivity issues. I would open it, and couldn't get the typing to work. My iPad then had repeated error popups showing "Accessory is not supported". I read about and tried running magnets over the connectors. This helped briefly but it didn't last. In the end, I just took the keyboard off and bought a secondary cover in frustration. I hope for the new line, they have improved the quality. Do not buy this product. I would give it a zero if it would let me.

    No good

    • Written by Adrian M from Lawrenceville

Very disappointing product to buy. While the iPad Pro is great. This keyboard accessory is disappointing. Starting having connection is issues within the first several months were the keyboard would not function. Months after the connection issues, Keys had delayed responses after typing. Bought the product brand new at an Apple Store located in Lenox Square Mall. Do Not Purchase!

Apple - Extend the Warranty. Consumers - look for alternatives

    • Written by Richard W from Glen Ridge

I have iPads, iPhones, iMacs, Macbooks, MacBook Airs, Apple Mice and trackpads. This is truly the first Apple product I have been disappointed in. Started having problems with it not being recognized intermittently. Then the warning that the accessory is not supported started appearing. Now it does not work at all. Apple store genius confirms it is broken but since my one year warranty was up in July, my only option is to flush away more money and buy another. Apple extended the warranty on the first generation of these keyboards because of similar issues and should do the same for this model. Until they do, look at the logitech keyboards, or if you must get an Apple product, get a Magic Keyboard 2 and use that.

    Surprisingly good

    • Written by Corry W from Arcadia

Looking at the reviews for this product is somewhat disappointing, because the iPad Pro smart keyboard is actually one of the most surprisingly good Apple products I've bought in recent memory. The keyboard gives great tactile feedback - in fact, much better than any third-party tablet keyboard I've ever used - and works seamlessly with the smart connector on my iPad. I still think it's insanely expensive ($160? Really??), but nonetheless it was a more than worthy purchase for me.

This is the third time I sent this keyboard to warranty, they all simply stop working, not because of bad use, I treat my equipments better then I treat myself (seriously), its just the desgin of this case that is 200$ is just horrible, I tottaly regret buying this product and this damaged the image I had of "Apple"

    Not the best

    • Written by Cindy C from Maple

I love this keyboard; it’s easy to use, portable, light and not Bluetooth required so it saves my battery in that respect. Although I’m lucky that it hasn’t completely bailed out on me for the past 2.5 years I’ve been using it, I’ve noticed that the magnetic strip is falling apart and every 5th time i use it or so it fails to connect without a hard restart. Please, Apple, this is such a useful and sleek product, make it practical for our money!

A good first effort, but lots of room for improvement

    • Written by Gero V from London

A good first effort, but I think there is a lot of rooom for improvement on version 2. Quality isn’t fantastic - it feels like it will last, which is good, but its not very refined - for example, the edges of the case/keyboard are sharp enough to cut you. The finish is OK, but pretty basic - a fabric finish would have been nicer and more in keeping with the apple brand. It’s very noisy... really noisy.. enough that colleagues comment when you are tapping away in meetings (don’t sit next to the telecom mic!!). Hopefully I will get quieter with time! I think the lack of travel doesn’t really help. I don’t see why the keyboard could not have been larger - i’m Sure the origami design would allow for this and it would have been nicer to have at least 1 more row of keys for inclusion of short cuts (lifting your hand up to the screen is slow and cumbersome). The lack of backlit keys limits the lusefullness of the keyboard to. Overall, its basic, but get the job done in a portable design. If you are trying to get some serious typing done however, i’d Look for alternatives!

Stopped working after a six months.

It just stopped working about six months after I purchased it. It kept giving inconsistent errors until it stopped working. Don’t buy. And hope someone starts a class action suit.

Works great until it doesn't -- serious design flaw

    • Written by Rhet T from San Pedro

I've gone through 2 of these keyboards in the last year. Both worked great until they stopped working...symptoms the same each time. Would start with a stuck key or a phantom key (repeat key press even when you weren't typing) and get progressively worse until the keyboard was unusable. Something in the keyboard, possibly a wire in the incredibly then hinge, is breaking over time. Apple honored the warranty on the first keyboard but only gave a 30-day warranty on the replacement, which failed about 90 days later. I've switched to a cheaper (albeit heavier) 3rd party blue-tooth keyboard. Bummer because this keyboard is really nice while it works.

    Total Disapointment

    • Written by Vicmael A from Apopka

I suggest no one buy this product. In less than a year the Keyboard started losing connectivity. I took it to the store and I missed the warranty by a couple of days. Now it is no longer working. The only solution that the "Apple Genius" gave me was to buy a new one...very "Genius". A lot of loyal Apple customers are having the same problem. I've tried looking for ways to fix the keyboard myself and was not successful. You'd be paying a lot of money for something that would barely last you a year. Where is Steve when you need him?

Like it so far, a bit expensive

    • Written by Lauren S from St Clair shores

I purchased this keyboard with my first iPad Pro in February, it has worked perfectly for me in the last 8 months. I like the easy magnetic attachment and the fact that is doubles as a case. I haven’t had any issues so far. Keyboard strokes are fluid. I got some sticky sauce on the felt portion of the keyboard and was pleasantly surprised that it wiped was able to be wiped off with a damp cloth, leaving no stain or residue. It was a bit expensive though.

    Typical Apple ripoff

    • Written by Arno M from Weybridge

I bought the keyboard last year for my iPad Pro. It worked until I updated to iOS 12. Since then I get the message “This accessory is not supported”. As many times before you waste your money on expensive kit and when the next update comes it is useless rubbish. £159 for just over one year usage is quite a lot.

I love this product. It is a snug fit and very lightweight, and I am glad that for the iPad Pro I can use either any Bluetooth keyboard or this one, even though I see no reason to buy a Bluetooth keyboard when this one works perfectly. If you're used to typing on a laptop, the smaller key space takes a little getting use to, but overall this product is great.

    Wow Same Experience

    • Written by Zy V from Chicopee

I am reading some of the reviews about the tear in the keyboard and I have to agree I was a sucker for buying it as well, but it’s helpful when you’re typing documents. I am still trying to figure out what’s to smart about it, besides how it connects to the IPAD along, but once I log onto websites and I try to put in my email address I have use the built in keyboard and not the Smart Keyboard since it refuse to recognize I need to input a lowercase letter instead of capitalized first to log into my account.

    Keyboard no longer connects

The keyboard has lost the ability to connect. This problem has been getting worst for some time. But now it is dead. Does this keyboard have the extended three year warranty?

    Faulty product, do not buy

    • Written by Alexandra G from Merritt Island

It’s great until it stops working. My first one was replaced under warranty. I’m on my second one and now have the same issues as the first — won’t connect, keys sticking, etc — only now I’m out of warranty. These keyboards last roughly six months. Don’t take my word for it; do a search. Lots of people are having the same problem. Buy something else.
