    Not worth the money

Bought the case in January 2018, within 2 months of normal day to day use the edging around the leather (Can't tell if it's some form of cheap plastic or the leather itself) peels off. This case is not worth the money - Buy something cheaper. Only buy this case if you want frayed edges which as apparently "Natural wear and tear".

    Perfect folio!

First I’d like to start with the fact that this is the first time I’ve used a folio style case. I wasn’t sure if it would be easy to use or not. I’ve used apple cases in the past (both silicone and leather) and I’ve always found apple cases to be well designed for the phones.

I decided to try this folio leather in black and I can say this - I am TRULY impressed. The feel of the case is amazing- soft leather and keeping a thin profile. In all honesty I feel like my phone is even MORE protected because of the folio. I do have a tempered glass protector (and edge to edge) and this case is also compatible with it. I have not experienced any of the issues previous reviewers have stated but then again I use AirPods for calls and I haven’t noticed any wear on my screen protector. If anything I feel more confident that I’m protecting my phone even more so.

The grip is just right and I have no issues with sound quality or cumbersome picture taking. It’s lightweight and easy to hold. It looks sleek and classy- just like the phone this case was designed for. Again this is my first experience with a folio and I wasn’t quite sure if it would be for me but I’m glad I tried this one out- anyone thinking of trying it but hesitating... don’t hesitate. Try it for yourself and you can always return it if you decide it isn’t for you. I’m glad I tried it and it’s now one of my favorite cases for my iPhone X. I hope they continue to make this style for future generations of their iPhones because this case will be one of my must haves. Love it!

    Too flimsy

I waited to give this review and now after 7 months the case cover is just too flimsy like a piece of wet cardboard. Adopted made very nice folio cases that still looks excellent after 2.5 years for IPhone 6+ but no longer makes new cases.

This is my second folio & I absolutely love it. It’s my first black Apple leather case & I have no idea why I waited so long to get one. I think I’ll be hooked on black from now on. I’m not sure what others have done to their cases but I haven’t had any issues with either folio case. They hold up extremely well. I’d recommend it to anyone that’s looking for a great wallet case.

Nice case, lovely fit and quite protective. I found this out when my 4 year old threw my phone across the room. The case is knackered (buying a new one with my tax rebate!) but the phone is ok!!

Honestly one of the BEST cases available

I purchased and the received the case the same day the iPhone X was launched. The case is made from high quality leather and feels wonderful in your hands. After 6 months the case has held up very well with a few scratches on it (more so job and gym related). The cases won’t replace a bulky wallet as it will hold a maximum of 4-6 cards and a couple of bills. For me this is fine because I always found carrying a wallet with unnecessary cards and a crazy amount of bills pointless but to each their own. I also have a screen protector as well. Overall the case combined with a screen protector provides plenty of protection.

As for the major flaws some people may be experience, I found them more so a result of a lack of common sense. The hearing issue some people are complaining about comes from the fact they’re answering their phones and speaking with the case closed. As a result they’re blocking mics/speakers. I have never had this issue because from day one, I have always opened the folio when FT or calling people. I use it as a kick stand when FT or watching YouTube (hidden extra function). Doesn’t feel weird at all. Just fold to the back. The individuals who mention wear on their screens aren’t using screen protectors so yes, you’ll wear it down with the 2 notches unless you have cards in the 2 pockets which raise the notches which all together prevent this issue.

Beautiful case that falls apart after 2 months of normal use

I REALLY wanted to love this case. Its Apple and runs $100, so I assumed it would've passed Apple's inspection and have their seal of approval. Unfortunately, after 28 days I noticed the outer rubber (that lines where the inside and outside leather meet) cracked where the wallet is sewn onto the leather. I brought it back to the Apple Store and was told that it was beyond their 14 day return policy and they couldn't do anything about it.

Now its been 2 months and a different area, the bottom corner of the same rubber has started peeling up, so basically the entire rubber that outlines the case is about to be gone. Who knows, maybe it will still look ok without the rubber seal, but I'm really disappointed with the product and service. $1500 for a phone and case and its looking trashy after 2 months. Bummer.

This case DAMAGED my iPhone X. It sounds crazy, since its designed and manufactured by Apple, but it did. Essentially, there is a serious design flaw in the folio interior face card holder. There are two thick tack stitches (that are presumably nylon) that keep the center front slip pocket perfectly sized for credit cards and IDs. These tack stitches can (and did) wear away the oleophobic coating on the front of the phone.

I keep my phone in my front pants pocket, and apparently the friction of the cover repeatedly rubbing in the same spot has removed a small spot of coating from my screen directly under the stitches, which is now visible whenever I look at my phone. I can clean the phone screen, which makes the spot less noticeable, but since the coating is gone, it hold oil better than the areas around it and so becomes visible by the next time I use it.

Its shocking that Apple themselves would overlook this. I would recommend to anyone that if you carry your phone in your pocket, this case may damage your phone's screen. Mine was damaged, and I dont know if Apple will even replace the screen under Apple Care? The whole situation is truly astonishing to me... :-(

    Folio leather case review

    Case quality is 10/10
Fit of iPhone X into case is ultra precise... But...
Case flap has no means of permanent closure?
Also on mine the flap seems un-even with rest of case when closed
I thought when buying it there would be a magnetic firm closure
So I am now looking for something to rap round it to keep it fixed in place
Whilst in my pocket, otherwise I will need a screen protector, which I
Would rather not use, that’s why I purchased this folio case!

Apple could solve this problem with shipping some kind of protective band
With case to go round case when closed!

Pretty surprised Apple did not see this as a fault?
As I see a lot of issues related to just this listed in the reviews!

Would of been a 5* review if it wasn’t for these issues...

    Wear badly

When you get this case you wil love it. Leather and feel are rich and luxurious. I had had mine for a few months and it looks terrible. Wearing out. Black lines with over worn leather where my credit cards are. Love it at first. Wears very badly. Hoping to replace it.

Great case but offers no protection

Stylish and nice but the bottom cut out designed for the speaker and lightning cable leaves your phone screen exposed at the very bottom to falls, etc. Your screen will break! Would NOT recommend. Very disappointed in this design. Not worth the price. You'll be spending $279 to get your screen repaired.

    Not that great

I've been using this case for a while now and it just isn't that good.

When I first saw this case with the Apple logo and the magnet awake feature and the super cool sleek leather design - I was like f-yeah this is gonna be the best thing since sliced bread. But in reality, it is not...

The magnet phone awake & lock feature worked well for the first week or so. Now it hardly ever awakes/locks the phone when opening the case. Almost always have to tap the screen to awake, and close/open/close the case to lock.

When in your pocket, the case screen cover skews sideways very easily. This sometimes awakes the phone too. There should be a tab attached to help secure the front cover to the back of the phone when closed like other cases on the market.

Talking on the phone with this case is a little awkward and cumbersome, but I mainly use bluetooth, so it isn't really an issue for me.

I honestly don't see the value in this product. I understand it's the brand you're paying for, but this is a bit over the top.

It's nice leather tho. Feels good.

Love my X but Leather Folio blocks my cell voice unless held open.

Have received numerous complaints from my callers and receivers of my calls they can not hear my voice-loud and clear. A long conversation with Apple revealed it is an issue they are aware and trying to resolve either through software fix or redesigned folio. In the meantime Apple recommended holding the Folio open like an open book while making calls. A bit awkward but it works as temporary fix.

Expensive, good quality but problematic product.

I purchased iPhone X and I wanted it buy the best cover case from Apple. I have been told that "iPhone X Leather Folio" is the best i can get. Since that time I started to have some problem with my phone the most important one is "hearing". No body was able to hear me (as should)! I have tried to find out what is the reason (wifi, Bluetooth, setting, combination, etc), I did several reboot, reset, etc. Finaly I found that the reason in my expensive authentic apple product " iPhone X Leather Folio"!!!! Once I replaced my expensive cover case with another non authentic and much cheaper the problem disappeared! I never expected this to be happened with Apple products what a shame. I don't know if there is any workaround from Apple but definitely is their fault and they should do something! My advice " do not by this product is not 100% compatible".

    Nice case, chemical smell

Like the case, it looks great and I haven't noticed any operational issues with the phone. However.... instead of that nice leather smell, mine has a plastic-chemical smell. I've never really owned a leather product that smells so much like plastic. Not sure what is causing the smell... but there is no hint of leather in the fragrance of this product!

    Functional but has its downsides

On the plus side, the folio case is attractive and the quality of the leather and stitching is pretty good. Open-to-wake and other features work fine. The case adds a fair amount of protection.

But the folio style hampers one-handed usage and, as others have mentioned, the flap covers the camera and rear microphone when folded over. I also find myself accidentally taking screen shots when I try to squeeze the power/sleep button and I'm holding the phone with the flap open (not folded), because my thumb ends up putting pressure on the volume button through the case. You can't use the phone with just your left hand with the flap open because the phone orientation won't reverse. I'm concerned about demagnetizing credit cards if I get a wireless charger. Also, I somewhat regret my color choice of black, because I can never see my phone when I put it down somewhere dark.

    Pricy but worth it

When you can buy iPhone X cases for less than $10, a $99 case needs to have a lot going for it. This one does. It looks and feels high-quality throughout. The stitching is even. The sides grip the phone securely. The leather is soft and feels wonderful in your hand, better than any leather wallet I've had. It's so good in fact that I occasionally find myself just rubbing the case with my fingers. I like that my phone wakes when I open the cover and sleeps when I close it. I don't have to remember to click the side button to make it sleep like I did with my iPhone 6. This case does not prevent my phone from charging on my wireless charging pad.

I use a folio case because I want to protect the screen. I keep my phone in my pants pocket and after a year or so the oleophobic coating wears off. I don't like the glass or plastic screen protectors that just adhere to the screen. After going through a half-dozen unsatisfying screen protectors on my previous phones I finally gave up and started using a folio case.

I left off one star because of two downsides. First, you end up with a thick and slightly bulky phone. Other folks can talk about how many cards this case can hold. I tried 2 and 3 cards but that made it too thick for me, so I don't keep any cards in it. Second, taking photos feels clumsy because you have to hold the cover out of the way while you shoot. If I know I"m going to be take a lot of photos I take my phone out of the case.

Great case for the iPhone X

Great case in every respect. Excellent fit, color, (I went with the cosmos blue version), and to date, I've not had a single person complain that they cannot hear me when on calls with this case on my X. The area for cards is an added benefit for this outstanding cellphone case from Apple. Good job Apple.

iPhone X Leather Folio - Black

Had the leather folio case for a few days now, and I am really satisfied with it.
    Things to note:
-Do not expect it to replace your wallet, you can fit around 3-4 cards at most in the card sleeve, and a few bills in the larger sleeve
-Leather cover is very supple, and may be prone to cracks over time (haven’t had it long enough to experience color wear)
-Magnetic cover, acts the same way as an iPad Smart Cover, where the screen locks when you close it
-Great overall protection in a simple and sleek package

Final thoughts: Highly recommend this case if you are someone who misplaces your wallet a lot and wants a case to keep all your important things together (at least that was my reasoning)
