  • Overview

The Twelve South BookBook for iPhone 5/5s/SE is a handsome hybrid case that provides one place for your iPhone and the contents of your wallet. This pocket-size book also protects your iPhone in two ways: the hard-back book cover shields against bumps and bruises, while the visual design disguises your wallet and phone.

    Protection and access

Slip your driving licence, bank cards and a little cash into the right side of BookBook, then snap your iPhone 5/5s/SE into the leather wrapped frame on the opposite side and you're ready to go.

    Superb convenience

A built-in ID window lets you show your drivers license without taking it out, plus an easy thumb-slide for those occasions when you do have to remove your ID. Vertical slots and one horizontal pocket hold debit/credit cards, cash and receipts.

It r First day of having this wallet/case, I had a few gripes: -The wallet would not close all the way unless I put the phone face up and the weight closes it. It really bothered me. -Very uncomfortable talking on the phone. Wasn't sure how anyone could hold the phone. -No place for cash. It's too big and won't let it close on me. Having the case for a month, I can say I like it! -The wallet fully closes now whichever side I put it on. -I learned that I needed to fold back the case with the credit cards and such sticking out. The case gave grip to the phone and now I feel uncomfortable without it. -Still no place for cash, but I feel like it grew on me. I carry 3 credit cards, my license, and a couple receipts and it's more than enough. Overall, I would recommend the case, but it does take getting a little use to. I'm the type of person that always forgets either his wallet or phone, and having two in one makes forgetting both much harder. It is a little thicker in my pocket, but I've gotten use to it, and I don't need to worry about having my keys in the same pocket as my phone anymore! A++ would recommend!

The snap in case is an improvement over the old slide in type of the 4s version. I also like the camera hole and the fact i can hold more cards is a plus. You can't go wrong if you get this. It eliminates the need for a phone case and a wallet. I have one on my MacBook air and my New iPad, awesome!!!!!! I get a lot of complements when people notice it.

Poor quality, cheap build & plasticky finish – not a patch on the 4S case

In stark contrast, the iPhone 5 case is a case study Like others here, I was a proud owner of the iPhone 4S BookBook case, which is a piece of design genius. In stark contrast, the iPhone 5 case is a case study in poor design. The lessons learned from the iPhone 4S case seem to have been completely thrown out and this case is made entirely differently — and of significantly poorer quality materials. The leather has a very plasticky finish, unlike the lovely natural leather used in the 4S case, which aged beautifully. Skimping on the materials in this case has resulted in the leather along the right hand edge of the back cover parting from the case — the 'hem' stitching clearly is along the very edge of the leather, meaning it does not hold it effectively. The plastic 'frame' in which the phone must be 'clipped' (and scratched) is covered in a thin synthetic (plastic) suede. With a mere 6 months of careful use, this has rubbed off in several places, leaving ragged edges and exposed black plastic. TwelveSouth have managed to take one of the best iPhone case designs and completely ruin it — one imagines to achieve reduced costs and more profit. If you're looking for an example of how not to design an iPhone case, then this is it. I would much rather slide the phone up to take a photo (as in the 4S case) rather than have the ugly plastic frame elements. All that was needed was the exact same case as the 4S one, but a few centimetres taller. Instead we end up the most disappointing and overpriced iPhone accessory I have yet to purchase. I cannot recommend strongly enough that you avoid this case. Hopefully, Twelve South will see sense and the classic BookBook design will be restored. But I wouldn't hold your breath.

I really have to rub hard to get rid of the outline of the plastic but I am still left with a large residual smudge on the glass that I could not remove. I don't think I would buy this version again unless they replace that with something softer and less likely to adhere to the phone face. A gross oversight on an otherwise solid product.

Was I Bought the BookBook about a year ago, cost me over $100.00 as I live in Canada. I was a little shocked at the cost but thought it'd be a quality product. Was I mistaken, Canadian money doesn't fit in it, so you have to fold it which makes impractical to carry money in. The spine discoloured and looks terrible. The credit card slots on the interior have all stretched so you can't put cards in them as will just slip out. Lost my drivers licence and health card today. So today is the garbage day for my BookBook just where it belongs. Worst $100 I've spent.

Useful case, looks good but weak around the rear facing camera

I've had this case for probably 18 months now (or rather, I've had _these_ cases). Thankfully there's a 12 month warranty on the case because if, like me, you I've had this case for probably 18 months now (or rather, I've had _these_ cases). Thankfully there's a 12 month warranty on the case because if, like me, you need to take the phone out of the case to fit it on a charging dock, or put it in a different case (for fitting on a bicycle for example) you'll find the corner of the case near the rear camera is weak. The plastic frame the holds the phone and the leather case become detached. I got mine replaced under warranty but the replacement has already started to go after 6 months or so. I notice that the versions of the case for the 6/6 Plus have a different design around the rear facing camera, so Twelve South are presumably aware of the issue.
