Protection made intelligent

  • Overview

The Tech21 Evo Elite case for iPhone embodies a new approach to protection. Thanks to Tech21's FlexShock material, the case can withstand drops of up to 2 metres (6.6 feet) and provides a secure fit and feel. The ultra-slim design is precisely colour-matched to iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus, and also uses a unique material finish that's durable and scratch resistant.

    Unhindered usefulness

Extremely lightweight and thin design means you’ll barely feel the Evo Elite case, whilst full access to all ports and function buttons ensures that you can use your iPhone just as it was intended.

    Quality materials you can feel

FlexShock is an essential element of this case. It's an ultra-efficient material that absorbs and dissipates impact force, stopping that force from passing into your iPhone — unlike less efficient materials. Even better, you don’t need much FlexShock to provide amazing protection, so you get a case that's thinner and lighter.

not as good as the Tech32 Evo Mesh Sport

It has hard, really slippery edges, which I was sure would result in my dropping it, while the Evo Mesh Sport is the grippiest case I have tried. The volume and power button action on the Elite is noticeably better, but not so much as to outweigh the other factors. For me, the Evo Mesh Sport was the clearly preferable choice, and I have been extremely happy with it.

Good protection but connectivity to the lightning socket is restricted

Unfortunately the protection includes a large offset at the the bottom of the case, which means that the lightning connector socket ends up quite deep within the moulding. For me this meant that the phone would not dock on my Pure radio while in the case. I also have a Withings blood pressure monitor with the earlier 30 pin connector, for which I had bought the official Apple Lightning to 30 Pin Adapter, but this similarly would not connect while the phone was in the case. In short, it seems that the only thing that will connect is a standard lightning plug on a cable. Also, access to the sound muting switch is very fiddly unless you have longish finger nails, which I don't, meaning that I couldn't operate the switch without using some form of implement. For me these issues made the case impractical for day to day use and I returned it.

It fit well and with no experience I trusted the Apple store person's opinion as to how well it protected the phone from damage. I has protected the phone but the edge of the case cracked and showed damage within the first week. The silver around the edge wore off shortly after. The case is also too slippery to easily pick up. There is not much protection for the rear facing camera like other cases. The Apple accessory connector (30 pin to Lightning) that I used to connect my old iPod Touch to our Bose will not reach with the case on the phone. The buttons at to sensitive for me because I'm always either turning the phone on or off just through the simple act of handling the phone. I'm looking for a replacement case.
