I purchased this to unload photos off my iPhone and manage design documents on my macbook pro. The device connected quickly, but lost connection frequently. The software interface is bulky and pedestrian. I love the concept, this brand always puts out wonderful products, but this seriously falls short to the software. It was returned immediately :(

BEWARE, wifi streaming not supported by Apple

Apple does not support this type of device unless you're using iOS 7 or less, it will not stream iTunes purchases via the wifi feature since iOS 8. I have two Apple does not support this type of device unless you're using iOS 7 or less, it will not stream iTunes purchases via the wifi feature since iOS 8. I have two similar devices from Seagate after upgrading to latest iOS they became paperweights, only good for storage.

Great device, App not so great

I've had the 2tb model of this for some years. Although initally it was a little difficult to work out I now swear by it. I have had numerous WD and some seagat I've had the 2tb model of this for some years. Although initally it was a little difficult to work out I now swear by it. I have had numerous WD and some seagate hard drives that have failed or become really slow in the same amount of time I've owned this hard drive. The Lacie app isn't that great. I now use the VLC app and once I'm connected over WIFI to the hard drive it shows up in my local network. Use it on my iPad, iPhone and MacBook when travelling. Would like a larger capacity. Four stars due to Lacie inital app.

Use RManager - SMB/Cloud File Manager software

I have used a 2tb LaCie Fuel drive with my iPad Air & iPad Pro for years and it works perfect with the following app. RManager - SMB/Cloud File Manager. I have used a 2tb LaCie Fuel drive with my iPad Air & iPad Pro for years and it works perfect with the following app. RManager - SMB/Cloud File Manager. Download & install to your iPad from the App Store, connect your iPad to the wireless LaCie Fuel network, run RManager app, at bottom of screen tap network icon, you will see your LaCie Fuel drive in the list, tap on it & select SMB, now tap on the storage icon at the bottom of the screen and you will see your LaCie Fuel drive displayed with the word guest after it, tap on it and a folder will appear on the right side of the screen, mines called 'public-01', tap on that and a folder tree will open showing the entire contents of you LaCie Fuel drive. From here it is possible to manage or play all of your files that are on your LaCie Fuel. The RManager app will stream & play just about any video format out there with what I would say is the best video player I have ever come across. You can copy or move any file from the LaCie Fuel to iPad & vica versa. Also, if you connect your LaCie Fuel to your PC with the supplied USB 3 cable, you can put any video from your PC onto your LaCie Fuel and then watch them on your iPad anywhere on the planet. The developers of the RManager app are always updating it and they respond quickly to any question I have ever asked them. The RManager app will make you glad you bought your LaCie Fuel. I would like to finish by saying that I am nothing at all to do with the RManager app, I am just another member of the public who bought a LaCie Fuel and couldn't get it to play any of my videos wirelessly from my iPad, until I stumbled onto this diamond of an app.

      Don't Buy This Drive!

LaCie products are great but this drive should not have been brought to market! The box is outrageously hyped with claims that this product doesn't do! It LaCie products are great but this drive should not have been brought to market! The box is outrageously hyped with claims that this product doesn't do! It doesn't play movies from an iTunes library. You have to use their app (a Seagate branded app). But, then when you download the recommended app and move one of your iTunes movie to their folder, it takes you to a web page with a "play" button that does nothing. Not even the LaCie branded app (which I found in the App Store) works...it does the same thing. My problems were clearly found in numerous instances on the Apple Support Site/Forum. I'm surprised that Apple even sells this device.
