The drive is showing as unreadable and macOS has failed to repair it. I have never encountered issues this substantial in a new drive before and given the obviously higher than usual price point I expected quality. I am sorry to say I was mistaken.

You can connect the drive to a USB-3 & USB-C to USB-C connector (e.g. USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter), then use the connector to connect to external power and the MacBook. Not very elegant. With these caveats, the drive seems good; nice to have 4 TB for big cameras.

I Saved my whole life on this device and it started failing after just 2 days. Basically it does not turn on again. You have to tweak the cables a bit. And after one hour of trying to play with them you might get a chance to have it ON for a couples of seconds. What a bad quality and why would APPLE sell someone else's bad quality?

CABLE CONTACT TO THE HARDDISC IS WOBBLY. 2. HARDDISC ITSELF IF WOBBLY WHEN PLACED ON A FLAT SURFACE. VISUALLY IT'S APPEALING, BUT THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS - AND LACIE NEEDS DEFINITELY BETTER QUALITY CONTROL WHEN IT COMES TO ASSEMBLING THIS PRODUCT. WRITTEN TO LACIE ABOUT THIS - LOOKING FORWARD TO A QUALIFIED FEEDBACK.

I bought other WD ones at the time and they vibrated a lot and returned them. They never have shown any problems or failures like people mentioned here. Maybe the later ones are bad, or it is not meant to be carried. I am seeing 110Mb/s for transfer tests, which I think plenty faster than other 3.0 external drives (60mb/s) I have. I do agree with the sharpness on the edges as they kind of seem a bit dangerous. My drives has been just on my desk 100% of the time, so I do not have the issue. It looks awesome to look at compared to other portable drives I have.
