  • Overview

The Beddit 3 Sleep Monitor automatically tracks your sleep and works with the Beddit app on your iPhone or iPad to help you achieve better sleep. Unlike activity trackers, Beddit is completely ambient so there’s no need to wear or charge it. The thin, flexible and soft sensor is unnoticeable when placed under the sheet on top of the mattress. It senses and automatically begins tracking when you lie down on the bed — collecting and analysing sleep-related data such as sleep time and efficiency, heart rate, respiration, temperature, movement, snoring, room temperature and room humidity.

    Understand your sleep patterns better

The Beddit app delivers personalised insights and customisable sleep coaching to help you improve your sleep. In addition, the Beddit Smart Alarm provides the most accurate method of detecting the optimal time to awaken you from sleep.

    How it works

Beddit technology is based upon a scientific principle known as ballistocardiography (BCG), an unobtrusive, non-invasive technique for measuring the mechanical activity of the heart, lungs and other body functions. Each time the heart beats, the acceleration of blood through the circulatory system generates a mechanical impulse that can be measured and analysed. Throughout the night, Beddit tracks each individual heartbeat and respiration cycle. Beddit’s advanced analysis and machine-learning algorithms adapt differently to each body type and provide detailed sleep data.

    Highlights

Automatically tracks sleep as well as heart rate, average resting heart rate, respiration, movement and snoring

Thin, flexible, soft sensor is undetectable when placed under the sheet on top of the mattress

No need to wear anything like activity trackers, sensors or other gadgets

Beddit Sleep Score combines sleep quality and sleep quantity data into one easy-to-understand number

    Tracks room temperature and humidity

Works on any bed, any size mattress, and with one or two people in the bed (requires two sensors for tracking two people)

The sensor is removable for travel

Works with Apple Watch to deliver Sleep Score every morning, and track a nap if the Sleep Score was too low

Delivers sleep data to Apple Health app

    Did You Notice?

Beddit’s sleep tracking and scoring system was developed in partnership with the Helsinki Sleep Clinic, VitalMed Research Centre and professor Markku Partinen, MD, a leading authority on sleep research.

      It works!

I use this in conjunction with a CPAP and have found it to be quite accurate. My sleep quality always registers higher when I use my CPAP vs when I don't. Also, not having one more thing to wear while I'm asleep is a huge bonus.

      Big improvement over Beddit 2

I liked the app, and it was great not having to wear anything while sleeping. However, the adhesive on the beddit 2’s sensor eventually started losing its tackiness. When I saw that the Beddit 3 no longer used adhesive with its sensor, it was an instant buy for me. I have been using it for a month now and love it.

It was simple to set up, jut put it on your mattress at chest height and plug it in, connect with your Beddit app and off you go. The detail of information is very good, but it is also easy to check things at a glance. It shows you your different levels of sleep, your heart rate, breathing rate, temperature and humidity of the room. And it can detect snoring with the app. The automatic sleep detection is very useful, you don't have to remember anything when you go to bed. Just hop in and fall to sleep.

We specifically asked the Apple sales person if this would work for two people and he said it would. The first night we got it home we got it to work. But it soon locked out one of us. I called Apple support on 9/13 and was offered a series of possible fixes but none was a consistent fix. I looked on the FAQ on the Bedditbsite tonight and found them now claiming (in spite of the packaging, the advice I got in store and from Apple care) that in offer to have the product work for two sleepers you need two sensors. I feel I was ripped off.

Completely unreliable device with nice customer service - buyer beware!

O I purchased the beddit 3 in December last year. The first device worked as advertised for a few months and then the heart rate monitor began its slow decline. Over the course of 2 weeks it went from recording the entire evening’s sleep range to intermittent failure to no heart rate recording at all. I contacted customer service and they sent me a new one within a couple of weeks. Great! Except that the replacement worked as advertised for a few months and then the same hardware failure occurred in the heart rate monitor. Another communication with customer service and another replacement sent out at no charge (though this time it took over a month). I have now had the third device for a few weeks and gaps are starting to appear in the heart rate monitor once again. I have followed all instructions for installation and setup and they are clearly used to device failures as the customer service person I have been communicating with for the last year has never hesitated to immediately put in a request to ship me a new device. And they have never attempted to troubleshoot the device or question my setup and usage. And each time I offer to ship back the malfunctioning device they decline. I can only surmise they feel they know the problems with the hardware and don’t feel they can learn anything from another device failure. I am hopeful that they will solve these problems at some time but that time is definitely not the present. You may get lucky and get a device that works, and if you do, congratulations! But as a nightly user for the last 9 months I could never recommend anyone spend their money on the beddit 3.
