Can not stop camera from recording in HomeKit

It can not be turned on and off via HomeKit. If I use the Logitech app to turn the camera off and then goto the home app, the camera is still streaming video even though it shows off. Also, there is no way to automatically turn the camera on/off via location, which is a major bummer. If/when this is fixed via a software update, I may consider this camera again, but for now I am returning it.

I have 3 of these and they are great

I have two window mounted and one wall mounted. I've done all of the app and firmware updates since I purchased them in August. I tried Homekit but the Logi C I have two window mounted and one wall mounted. I've done all of the app and firmware updates since I purchased them in August. I tried Homekit but the Logi Circle app is much better. Night vision doesn't work as well in window mode, do your homework and research before buying any camera. IR does not work through glass. I spent more time cable managing the wires and getting them power than I did setting them up. Like all technology, there's people who know and everyone else. Remember that when reading reviews. It's a great product and it doesn't deserve 1 star from 1 review.

Doesn't do what says on the tin

Connectivity - mounted outside, double glazed windows separates camera from Airport clearly visible from camera location, 8 m away. 2.4 and 5GHz tested, still having poor connection alerts from time to time. 2. Image quality - even on 1080p picture lacks details and crispness, it's hard to recognise face of a person moving 5m away from camera 3. HomeKit - I gave up in week 1 after care lost connectivity to HomeKit 3 times and the only solution was to remove it, reset and set up from scratch. 4. Storage - unable to choose storage for video footage, all stored in Cloud using lots of bandwidth around the clock. 5. Alerts - tested free and paid subscription (free for a week with fresh install) - zoning doesn't work, people recognition misses people or alerts and records when nothing happens or out of zones activity only. Camera records even when out of zone activity detected, waste of time and bandwidth. Absolutely unreliable as a security camera. Monthly service expensive, more than for Netflix subscription, not worth it. 6. Indoor usage - not going to use it indoor as it records whenever it wants, not happy to send all the footage from my living room to some company's server. 7. Overall build quality - camera mount is rather a toy quality, intruder wanting to disable it just needs to pull it harder. 8. Camera has a mic and speaker build in. Voice level too low to be used when a car passes on the road or chatting people walking by. On top of that you receive alert a few second after camera notifies person, takes a moment to start app and load video. When you ready to chat a courier with your delivery has just left. On top of that there is a 1-2s delay seriously damaging chances to communicate with anybody.

I have owned smart home devices from several manufacturers. My main learning is that you need a good, strong wifi signal at the point where you plan to install the device. IMHO, the wifi connection is the weak point in all smart home devices. Time and again, a power outage, a firmware update, or similar event will cause the devices to lose (and not automatically restore) connectivity. This just seems to be the state of the current technology. So be prepared for a certain amount on ongoing manual intervention. Having said the above, I've found the Circle 2 to be slightly above average in terms of connectivity. I've unplugged the device, turned off my wifi and performed firmware updates - each several times - just to test how well the Circle 2 recovers. So far, so good. On the functional side, I find the camera's image quality to be great in well-lit rooms, and I find the night vision to be adequate. I haven't seen a camera with truly great night vision, so I've set my expectations accordingly. Logitech's free plan gives you access to your video footage for the last 24 hours. The software sends you a notification (not an SMS or email) when it senses motion. This means you need to review the footage and download (to your phone) the video that you want to keep before the 24 hours runs out. If there are no notifications, then there is no need, of course, to review the footage. Logitech's "day brief" feature makes it pretty easy to review footage. You can purchase one of Logitech's subscription plans to retain your footage for more than 24 hours, if you wish. You also receive a notification if the camera disconnects. I tested this by disconnecting the power cable, and it worked fine. As others have commented, the Homekit app does not fully integrate with the Circle 2. So you still will want to have Logitech's own app on your phone. One last comment: this camera has no alarm feature (or, at least, none I've been able to find). So if you want a camera that emits a loud piercing sound that both wakes you up and scares off an intruder, this camera is not for you. Otherwise, I've found it to be a good device.

      The Dumb Smart Security Camera

I have had this camera for several months. As mentioned in other posts, it's far from a 'smart' camera. Even though it is 'off' with the red light showing, it's I have had this camera for several months. As mentioned in other posts, it's far from a 'smart' camera. Even though it is 'off' with the red light showing, it's still on in Apple Homekit. Logitech has been saying for months they know this is an issue that will be fixed with a firmware update. I'm still waiting!!! Which is why I felt compelled to give a review. Nor can you automate turning it on and off (e.g., such as when you exit the house). I bought a Pop to turn the camera on as I left, but it keeps failing.

Camera broken after turning it off

And then unable to turn it on and reconnect to it, no matter what (I did reset it, unplugged, etc). I might be unlucky but for this price, I'm expecting a more reliable camera. Too bad.
