      Great Quality, Not Versatile Enough

Quality you can expect from Moleskine products. It's simple, neat and elegant. It's sturdy and the materials seem like they'll last a while. The pencil and iPad Quality you can expect from Moleskine products. It's simple, neat and elegant. It's sturdy and the materials seem like they'll last a while. The pencil and iPad fit snug in their places. There are reviews for previous versions that mention the elastic for the pencil stretches, but it's hard to believe it will happen with this. It's really tight. The only flaw the case has is its angular versatility. The angles the iPad sits at range from 45-90 degrees, which places a limitation on how the user interacts with the iPad. It works great for watching and reading, but typing and drawing is awkward, if not difficult or impossible. There is the option to lay it flat, but I'd expect a little more flexibility-of-form for the price-tag. Rating as a 3-star because the limitation is really evident.

      Broken

I purchased this Moleskine Portfolio for its quality feel and appearance. I have to agree with the other reviewer that it is limited in functionality. The IPa I purchased this Moleskine Portfolio for its quality feel and appearance. I have to agree with the other reviewer that it is limited in functionality. The IPad is held in place by a rigid plastic case similar to that of a phone case. Recently the unit slipped off the back of the couch to a wooden floor 28 inches below. I was surprised to find that two corners broke off the plastic case and it no longer holds the iPad in place. A thin strip next to the volume keys also snapped. Moleskine denied warranty coverage. $100 is a lot spend for a cover that only lasted four months.

Montblanc, for example, have told me that they no longer make iPad cases for this reason. So, with that being said, FINALY, Moleskine have the 10.5 case out. It’s £80, and probably worth £40. It’s good quality build, but sub-par materials.. it’s fully synthetic; no leather. On the positives, we have an elastic sheath to hold a pencil, and it feels like it will do so reasonably securely. The iPad seems to be able to be ‘micro positioned’ to basically whatever angle you like thanks to a good interior case fixing material (plastic) and microfibre lining combo. In summary, it’s a good premium case, it’s unmistakably Moleskine, it should last a good couple of years, it’s very convenient in terms of allowable display angles, it can hold a pencil. However it’s not worth the RRP.

I love Moleskine but this is not worth the price

I was really optimistic about this case but have really been let down by the quality. The condition and look and feel of the outer portion of the case is great I was really optimistic about this case but have really been let down by the quality. The condition and look and feel of the outer portion of the case is great after six months... obviously looks like a Moleskine notebook. The interior however stains easily (and doesn't seem to be cleanable) and the plastic case that holds the iPad in place breaks very easily: all four corners have cracked or are broken off. I took it to the Moleskine store in SF and they didn't really want to help me as I had purchased it at the Apple Store. Therefore, I suggest you pass on this.

Unfortunately, I have encountered the same flaw with the holder flaking off. I'm going to attempt a repair with Sugru and see if I can extend the life of the case. Moleskin no longer advertises this product on their own website (only iPad mini size case), so that's a bit telling as well.

It does not fit the iPad mini 4! I thought that perhaps there was something wrong with my new iPad as every time I opened the lid on the case the little audio volume icon stayed on the screen. It was only after I realised that the upper volume button was being permanently pressed down by the case. The aperture for the volume buttons is in the wrong place. Short of taking a power tool to the case, there is nothing you can do about it. Seriously disappointing. This is a rip off. Apple should not be selling this case as being suitable for the iPad mini 4. What has happened to their quality control??
