  • Overview

The 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Pro stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

Compatible with MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display.

rubber on the cord rips open

I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe charger from 2010 is still functional and hasn't ripped open. The quality of the charger declined so far where your older models are outliving the newer ones by almost 5 years is completely outrageous. I've taped up the opening with electrical tape since it's expensive to replace. Obviously these things are made to fall apart so people will have to keep buying it over and over. It's these little petty things that keeps me from wanting to support apple products other than the macbook pro.

Wish I could rate it 0 stars..

My MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina Display (Late 2013) came with this Magsafe 2 power adaptor. Not long after use, it started yellowing, which was no big deal. Then it started fraying at the end that connects to my MacBook, as well as throughout the cable. It is extremely unreliable, and I have to keep checking to see if it is still charging! If a replacement power adaptor cost around $30-$50, it would not be as big of a deal. But, $80! What the heck, Apple! I spend $2000 on a laptop, and then $80 for each power adaptor??

      Poor show from Apple

I completely concur with the previous Gentleman's comments; we have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Book air and have gone through two cables in less than two years. I I completely concur with the previous Gentleman's comments; we have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Book air and have gone through two cables in less than two years. I have an old Dell laptop which has been carried all around the world and the cable is still going strong 4 years on - Apple it is a very poor show. At £65 a cable it is pure day light robbery!

The quality is awful, both times I have had the same issue, the cord casing frays and the charger becomes unsafe and nonfunctional. When there is such a well documented issue with this product I find it disgraceful that a replacement (presumably of the same quality) costs so much.

Joining the bandwagon--magsafe cord poor quality

I was searching the cost of replacing my Magsafe 2 (60 watt) Power Adapter because the rubber coating on the cord had a tear in it and found these reviews that I was searching the cost of replacing my Magsafe 2 (60 watt) Power Adapter because the rubber coating on the cord had a tear in it and found these reviews that mostly rate this cord as 1 star. I too would rate this cord as a 1 because my power adapter has been treated with normal wear, and yet, I found a split in the cord. Since it's for a laptop--as opposed to a desktop, which remains in one place, I would expect that it would hold up to being transported with the laptop. I've always carried mine in a padded laptop case, and when I pulled it out the other day, I discovered the tear in the cord. Yes--I agree, very disappointing. This cord does not hold up to normal wear.
