  • Overview

The 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Pro stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

Compatible with MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display.

      Poor show from Apple

I completely concur with the previous Gentleman's comments; we have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Book air and have gone through two cables in less than two years. I I completely concur with the previous Gentleman's comments; we have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Book air and have gone through two cables in less than two years. I have an old Dell laptop which has been carried all around the world and the cable is still going strong 4 years on - Apple it is a very poor show. At £65 a cable it is pure day light robbery!

rubber on the cord rips open

I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe charger from 2010 is still functional and hasn't ripped open. The quality of the charger declined so far where your older models are outliving the newer ones by almost 5 years is completely outrageous. I've taped up the opening with electrical tape since it's expensive to replace. Obviously these things are made to fall apart so people will have to keep buying it over and over. It's these little petty things that keeps me from wanting to support apple products other than the macbook pro.

      USELESSS

      1. My charger split and both ends leaving exposed wire, I am very careful with it i have had just over a year. 2. it sparks every single time i plug it in and 1. My charger split and both ends leaving exposed wire, I am very careful with it i have had just over a year. 2. it sparks every single time i plug it in and has burn marks on it. 3. the end of the charger gets so hot to the point it actually melted my S key on my macbook. 4. another one costs 79 whole British sterling, it has a gone up in price every single year by around £5. 5. I am appalled at how little apple care about their consumer as year after year people complain and the wire is still poorly made.

Power Adapter Is Not Representative of Apple Quality

I was tired of Everything Apple produces is great except the simple power adapter. I bought PC laptops every 2-3 years for a long time due to various reasons. I was tired of doing this and was very reluctant to spend so much money on an Apple laptop, even though I have been very pleased with my iPhones over the years. When my latest PC laptop failed after only 2 years, I went all in and bought an Apple Mac Pro with Retina display. The laptop is now 3 years old, performs flawlessly every day and looks like I just took it out of the box. However, Apple should be ashamed of their power adapters for their laptops, specifically the sheath that contains the wiring. It is poor quality and tears up within the first year. Since there have been so many complaints, it does look as though Apple is patting themselves on the back in having designed such a poor quality adapter that peopl keep buying year after year because their laptops are such high quality. Shame on you Apple.
