I have never had an apple product with this terrible of quality. For $50 should definitely last longer especially not used much and always put up when not in use. Would not recommend wasting your money.

Poor Video Quality and No Audio Out of Headphone Jack

The result is the vid Instead of outputting native HDMI, this little device seems to take the output from the phone, compress it, and pass along an HDMI signal. The result is the video quality is far below good HD quality. Expect all kinds of artifacts and other issues including lower than expected HD resolution. This is not a device that can replace a good streaming alternative, which is too bad considering Apple's devices are more than powerful enough for that purpose. For those of us hoping to use our phones or iPads to connect in business settings to display content, be aware that audio is only transmitted through the lightening port when this is plugged in, which gives no audio out through the headphone jack. That means that if you are plugging this into a projector's HDMI input, you are likely going to lose any sound that goes along with your presentation (or anything else) as most quality projectors do not have speakers. This is a big oversight in my opinion as lots of devices keep the analog audio out of a headphone jack or the like live while also transmitting sound over HDMI. Similarly, sound is not also sent via bluetooth when this is plugged in, so that's not an alternative either. I have both the bluetooth and headphone jack options open on my laptop, which has an HDMI out. So much for replacing a good old laptop.

      AV Adapter not Working

i am only giving it one star right now as it is not working and there does not seem to be any fix in sight at the moment. It appears that since the last update i am only giving it one star right now as it is not working and there does not seem to be any fix in sight at the moment. It appears that since the last update to IOS12 my adapter will not work. When i plug it in it tells me that accessory will not work until firmware download is complete. It has been almost 2 weeks now. So i tried it on my ipad which has not had the update and it works fine. I do hope this gets fixed soon. Please Help

Sometimes I can get it to mirror on the screen but only for a few seconds and then I cuts out. Sometimes it shows up in settings>general>about but not all the time. It’s not the HDMI cable or screen. I think it has to do with the software because it worked flawlessly for the past couple years. Hopefully Apple pushes out an update to fix it. I don’t fell like spending $65 on a new adapter.
