Will this adapter allow functional use of resolutions such as 2560x1440 using a 4K-rated HDMI cable on a late 2012 mac mini?

I have tried 3 other similarly described adapters without success. I know that HDMI resolutions at 2560x1400 are supported by my monitor as I have a 2015 MBP hooked into it directly via a 4K-rated HMDI cable. Thunderbolt and DP support that resolution directly. The problem always seems to be in the adaptation of the signal to HDMI.

Thank you,

If your monitor supports DisplayPort (large) then you can get a (mini display port) to large display port cable for your 2.5k monitor. I have a 2560 x 1440 monitor with this set up. My receiver doesn't support 2.5k monitors, only 2k and 4k monitors. I think the HDMI adaptors are the same as my receiver.
