FAT32 formats partitions up to 32GB, the default maximum size set by Windows. Large capacity drives like this aren't suited to FAT32 and are not normally recognised by Windows. A Mac sees it differently, and the format problem can be worked around, but it can be problematic. I've had 4 x 3TB drives fail within a couple of months of purchase, so I won't be doing it again.
