Can the Elgato Eve Door and Window sensors sent me an alert when the door or window is opened?

Yes. In the Home app you can set up to receive notifications if a door (in my case) is opened or closed. The notifications can be restricted to only certain times of day, and only happen (for instance) if you aren’t home. You do need a home hub for that, of course.
