Can I use the Caldigit TS3 to connect a 2009 iMac as monitor to a 2019 Macbook Pro using generic cable(s)

Hello Jennifer, It's possible to use iMacs as a display and this is possible through the TS3 Plus. What you are trying to do is called "Target Display Mode" and whether it works or not depends on your particular iMac. Apple has an entire support article on Target Display Mode, and I suggest you take a look to determine whether your iMac is eligible and how you can proceed.
