I'm new to Macs. How do I know if I have an Intel processor. I'm currently running OS X 10.5.3

If you click the Apple icon in the menu bar (top left of the screen) and select "About This Mac" a dialogue box will appear. In the description for processor you will see either Intel or PowerPC. (If it's a new model it will almost certainly be Intel.)

Mac OS X 10.5.3 means you are using core Leopard with 5 updates. To know about this and also about the processor type, simply click on the apple sign at the top left corner of your screen and then click 'About This Mac', your first option in the drop down menu list.
