AnswerNo it will not. An older MagSafe will work with MagSafe 2 via the new adapter but it will not work the other way.

Best Answer:You will want to purchase a 60W adapter for use with your MacBook. This charger has a MagSafe 2 connection, which will not connect to your MacBook.

You're talking about voltage. Note that every Apple device automatically switches between 110-120V and 240-250V. It will work regardless of which country you use it in. Wattage is referring to how much power it is consuming.

AnswerThe MacBook Pro with Retina Display was released in 2012. Any computer from before then uses the older style connector.

Best Answer:To extend the life of adapter don't use it :). Seriously, you can keep it plugged without harm. Periodically clean the magsafe plug.

Old Mac will work with MagSafe 2 ???
My old macBook Pro 15 " Power Supply does not charge the battery but the LED is green and computer works when plugged in electric outlet.
Tested 2 different batteries and the result is the same!

Best Answer:No, this is only for the newer MBP. The connector is different. You need to get the original MagSafe charger (Apple 85W MagSafe Power Adapter (for 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro)).
