Belkin YourType was a Waste of $49.00

    • Written by William B from Burlingame

Bought this thing a year ago and it was never able to pair with my, always up to date, MBP. Every couple of months I try to rain it and it will not work. Tossed it into the trash this morning.

Apparently is does work with El Capitan. Try exchanging it for a new one.

    • Written by Peter H from Mayfield Heights

My friend owns one of these and it stopped working. After reading the reviews when everything else failed I determined it was hopeless and told her to try an alternative. She returned it to Microcenter and they said it does work after connecting one in store. She has a new one and it works just fine. Maybe there’s a batch that has problems and she had one. Who knows. I suggest exchanging one if it isn’t working for you as Apple probably wouldn’t continue to sell these if they didn’t work.

Something better must be out there ...

    • Written by Sheryl B from AUSTIN

I do accounting part-time with my personal computer so it is very important that I have the numeric keypad. I use this only because there is nothing better available. It is battery operated rather than rechargeable. It is not possible to turn it off and save the batteries (2 AA) so I have resorted to opening the battery compartment and removing the batteries when I am finished. This is necessary because in my bag, if it gets bumped, it will be picked up by my notebook and I will get something like "77777777777777777777" in the middle of my work.

Regarding the wireless connection - it sometimes doesn't connect. Sometimes it loses it's connection in the middle of working. The only way to remedy this is to restart my computer and sometimes take the batteries out. Pain in the a**.

I was fooled by the feel of quality and didn't check reviews. Don't do the same. A wired pad would be a big improvement.

    Missing some important keys

    • Written by Kevin C from San Francisco

There is a GLARING flaw with this keyboard it is missing command key. Since it isn't link to the onboard keyboard it doesn't know if you are holding down a command key. So if you use a program that requires holding down a command key and a number from the keypad. You are out of luck! you can't use it to get to ASCII characters if you want to use them in a windows based program. It is a shame since there is plenty of room for them to have put in those 3 keys. It does have function keys but I'm not sure how to map them to a command key.

Surprised this is on Apple.com Store Site as it is simply not very reliable

    • Written by ERIC E from Provincetown

Read all the reviews and if you still buy it, like I did, because I was desperate for numeric wireless keypad that I could use with my 2nd gen Apple keyboard, Apple Touch Pad and Magic Mouse I purchased the day they were released, you will find that all the other negative reviews are accurate. Surprised that Apple.com still wants to be associated with such a poorly performing product. Anyone who does lots of "numbers" or "Numbers" or when forced to do so, Excel, NEEDS a wireless numeric keypad that works with all the newest Apple input tools. Belkin, Apple and any other product vendors, there is a market for a far better "integrated" tool that works with new Apple input devices and most up to date versions of OS X (and how about IOS latest versions too?)!

    Frustrating

    • Written by Joshua F from Mundelein

I trade for a living and numbers are somewhat important for that. Can't say this thing is great when it works. I expect when I press a number that number will be reflected on the computer. So when it works, it works. The problem is in the "working" part. Connection drops often. Too often. Reboot, battery replacement, prayers to all gods, nothing helps. Very disappointed with Apple and 3rd party support in past few years.

    GARBAGE!!

    • Written by Stewart H from Rio Rancho

Belkin really slipped with this one. IT DOES NOT WORK, PERIOD. Reset of SMC, NVRAM, etc. does not help, replacing batteries did nothing. It pairs just fine, but Mac doesn't have any idea what it is. Totally clueless. DON'T waste your time or money on this. The only option at this time, is stick with the old wired Apple extended keyboard. Apple slipped when they didn't make the bluetooth version of the extended keyboard. By the way, WHEN ARE YOU???????????????????

    So far so good

    • Written by Yuriy K from Newmarket

I was scared to buy this product after reading some of the reviews, but decided to go ahead and trust that Apple does not carry junk. First day, works beautifully. Connected without issues and no lag when typing.

    Great with Mac Book Pro

    • Written by Andrew L from Raleigh

I started using this my Mac Book Pro 2012 and it works great for entering data in to numbers and Excel. I moved it to my new Mac Book Pro 2016, with Sierra and it still is working great.

I love that it goes to to sleep and quickly wakes up on any number press; I haven't changed batteries in a 3 months. In the mornings after starting up I just hit a number or search and it starts up; then I start using it.

It connects but doesn't input anything to my iMac!!!

    • Written by ALBERT T from Raleigh

Holy *** I should have surfed the support community for repurchase comments. I need a number pad very badly and thought this would have served me well, but it connects and does absolutely nothing when I type. Should I return it or exchange it for another??????

    A waste of time

I wish I read reviews before I ordered this junk. As you can read over and over it will not connect or stay connected to my mac. My fault, I just thought Apple put out quality products. WRONG

    Battery Drainer

    • Written by Nicara S from Covington

It took a while to get this to pair but once it did it works fine. My only issue is that it goes through batteries like CRAZY. I literally have to replace them once a week. I will likely return and stop using it. Not worth the added cost of constantly buying batteries.

    Major Flaw

    • Written by Brian G from Bellevue

It works fine when you're just crunching numbers. The problem is that it will not automatically sync when you restart your computer. So every day you have to go into your bluetooth settings and pair it again.

    Good Accessory

    • Written by Odette T from Abbotsford

I love my numeric pad... It works very well and was easy to pair. I love it and now I don't have any wires on my desk. As a bookkeeper I really need the numeric pad and Belkin had the solution.

    I'm very happy with it.

If only zero stars was possible....

    • Written by Jonathan D from Laval

All I have to say is that if you like having technical problems and then calling into a third world country call center to get help....then this product IS FOR YOU! The agent actually told me to try downgrading my OSX to get the device to work! SMH!

    Not Good

    • Written by Peter C from Rineyville

Bought this when I converted from PC to Apple. Phones, tablets, desktop. Since the included keyboard didn't have a numbers pad I bought this. Nothing but the number keys work. only got one star because you can't give an item zero.

    • Written by Farhan A from Milton

I wish there was a "ZERO" star option here, does not work with my 2016 Macbook Pro, gets connected but wouldn't work, I wish i had read reviews before buying it. I dont know what Belkin was thinking to come up with product like this.

OSX Sierra & this keypad does work

    • Written by Kevin B from Phoenix

I had no idea these existed until seeing them at some client sites last week. I knew I had to have one! I ordered it, it arrived a little bit ago, and I sat down to pair it with my computer.

Uh oh...up pops a warning saying the computer couldn't identify this "keyboard"! Oh no! A quick google shows this keypad isn't officially compatible with OS X El Capitan, so nevermind Sierra! Darn it--I really don't want to send it back! I need this! (I went and bought an actual wired keyboard to give me back my missing number pad/dedicate home & end buttons, but I hate the way it clutters my desk!)

What am I going to do?

Close the Bluetooth preferences panel, that's what. It works fine. The OS doesn't know what to call it, but the functionality is fine. The only thing that doesn't work are the function buttons on the keypad (F13 & F 16 do nothing; F14 & F15 are brightness down and up respectively.) So it's not perfect, but I don't use the function buttons anyway.) I took off a star for scaring me. Update your documentation Belkin.
