Love keyboard backlight - *hate* screen wear on iPad

Like many of the other reviewers, I found that the screen on my pro was developing a line across the top right where the palm rest of the keyboard rests on the screen when closed. There is definitely a design flaw as it is clear Logitech tried to prevent this by putting a very small rubber bumper on the opposite edge of the palm rest. Presumably, this is to keep the keyboard away from the screen. However, there materials or the design is inadequate. Clearly the palm rest is sitting on the screen when closed causing the damage to the screen.

Fortunately, the local Apple store where I got the keyboard replaced my iPad under warranty. I've ordered a glass screen protector and will be looking for additional protection from the keyboard ... If only Apple's keyboard had backlit keys ...

    Backlight does not work

I have seen no marks on the screen because of the keyboard but the backlight does not come on when I type. It lights when first connected but then goes off again. This has happened recently and I can't find any solution. I wish I could use it in portrait mode as well.

7-2-2016 Two things wrong with CREATE and Apple keaboards

The material used is probably good for keeping the Logitech device clean etc.,but the problem is the thing slides right off your lap on to the floor due to the "fabric" used externally being Nylon or something. Try wearing a pair of shorts with it.
Second issue I have is when I read the review section for the black Logitech model, it had quite a few people in the black color rating it low. This is mainly from some using the device, and opening and closing the device. The Logitech device leaves scratches on the IPadPro itself. The reviews showed averages of 3.0 for the black ones, due to the scratches as described. Create Keyboard scratches them over time.
I know, it makes me sound like\an old bitty. But I have a very high opinion of Apple, and the quality of the equipment over time with the quality of the items they sell.

So I'm left one or the other, but they both have flaws and short comings. Please release a better keyboard device for the device

I really want to buy one, but I don't want to play shipping tag in a non winning game.

Please help us with a quality, made to last keyboard for the IPad Pro, to at least match the quality of
    other devices you sell.

Until now I've been very pleased buying Apple products.

I already have many, I'm hoping it becomes many more.

Same complaint as most everyone else...

I bought my 12.9 iPad Pro on release day, but the genuine Apple Smart Keyboard was still 6-8 weeks away.
Wanting to protect my new iPad, I bought the Logitech CREATE Keyboard Case. It didn't take long for the (now) permanent streak to land on my screen where the palm rest touches the screen once folded.

Terrible product, definitely can NOT recommend to anyone unless Logitech has a different version out now.
I had to give one star because zero stars wasn't an option.

    Buyer Beware

Skip yourself the aggravation of the damage this case likely will cause your iPad Pro. I got the case and iPad Pro on 12/25. I noticed the damage to my screen about a month ago. I started the conversation with Logitech at that time. I finally decided to bypass Logitech and go to my local Apple Store. Much to my relief, they promptly replaced both. Even the guy working at the Apple Store had the exact same problem happen to him. Unless Logitech has made a major design change (how would you know?) or you use a screen protector, avoid this case.

Beware - scratches screen and sides break making it useless.

Bought this keyboard when it first came out. After 2 weeks I noticed very bad scratches across my top of the line 128GB iPad Pro.
I then bought a glass protector - but too late.
The palm rest is the culprit. It now has worked patches all along the rest where it has rubbed agains the glass protector. Same on the corners.

After 2 months of use the mount on the top of the iPad in the corners started showing hairline fractures from opening and closing. About 6 months later the sides broke completely and the iPad easily slips down and falls out.

Almost bought another one to replace this just now but luckily I fount this and changed my mind.

Pretty disappointed Apple is not like IKEA.

I have no faith in big corporate now from all sorts of food to Apples...

Left a permanent wear mark on the screen

Great case and keyboard but all the reviews are true, it left a permanent mark on my screen too.

Buyer Beware - It will scratch your investment

The aluminum casing rest too tightly against the glass screen and will scratch your screen in a short time. Apple SHOULD NOT endorse this product as an accessory.

    Excellent Keyboard + Case

I received my iPad Pro & the Logi Create keyboard for Christmas 2015. This keyboard case is by far the best I have used for any iPad, and I have used many on various iPads. The smart connector works flawlessly. Initially, there were a couple of glitches with keys repeating or delayed input. But firmware updates cured those issues. The feel of the keyboard is awesome, the responsiveness of the keys perfect, the size of the keys excellent. The backlighting is a must for me, and it's perfection on this keyboard. (It can also be dimmed.)

I have experienced *NO* scratching or marring of my iPad's screen, and I've been using this keyboard case daily for almost 6 months. There's a small rubber bumper at the top of the case where the the iPad snaps into the case. This bumper keeps the screen from touching the keyboard. The back part of the keyboard may contact the screen, but if it does, it has neither imprinted on my iPad's screen nor scratched it. Then again, I keep my iPad screen and the Create keyboard clean and free of dirt, dust, and miscellaneous debris. I also do not pack it in tight book bags, purses, or briefcases & cart it around. The iPad Pro snaps into the case easily, & Logitech has a video on their website which demonstrates how to do that.

    Scratched

Wished, I had read the reviews. My screen is scratched and even though you can't tell when it is working it's so dissappointing to spend so much money on both the iPad and case to have such a mark on your screen.

Buyer beware! This keyboard can damage your iPad pro

I had my iPad bought for me as a Christmas present and we also bought the Apple Pencil and this Logitech Create keyboard to go along with it. The Apple keyboard was not available at the time as so this was recommended at the Apple Store as a brilliant alternative. It was bulkier but with back protection and a backlit keyboard it seemed like a better option. Apart from the weight of the keyboard I had no problems and it was a good keyboard but I noticed a white gloss line forming along the top of my screen after a while where the bottom of the keyboard connects with the iPad screen when it is closed. It looked as if it could be cleaned off but no amount of cleaning can move it. My iPad screen is now permanently marked by this keyboard. It is ruined.

Freezes mid sentence, and yes, left a small horizontal streak

I had been noticing some comments about it leaving a streak across the ipad screen. Some people said that if you wipe if now and then it won't be permanent. After 3 weeks of using this, I noticed that the streak was more noticeable, so I am setting aside this keyboard case for good. What a pity because it felt sturdy and has a wonderful feel when I typed.

Which brings me to another issue people are having upon googling, it freezes up mid sentence while typing! I read that there's a new software update for this, but my keyboard still froze up (albeit less) when I started typing 3 sentences in.

These are major flaws I simply can't overlook. I am so bummed I'm forced to set aside this keyboard that i paid 150 bucks for. I do hope they get their stuff together and correct these glaring errors for their future customers.

Oh dear - read this to avoid heartache and get the right keyboard

Bought this with the PRO. Was really pleased with it with travel on the keys, backlit and the ability to call up the Siri function. Lots of protection for the device and although heavy was content.
HOWEVER THE DEVICE SCRATCHES THE SCREEN OF THE IPAD. This is totally unacceptable and resulted in me getting a full refund from the Apple Store and purchasing the Apple keyboard. It also had a short lag.
Now the Apple keyboard has a 'dead flesh' feel and you cannot access the Siri function without a laborious workaround. My solution now is to use an Apple standalone Bluetooth keyboard and carry the iPad around with the Apple case only. The proper keyboard is absolutely on the money and while it means carrying two items then my productivity is improved.
Logitech - please redesign this great keyboard so that it is fit for purpose. I would give zero stars if I could.
NB - cannot fault the Apple Store team in Leeds that gave me a full refund and were fully understanding in replacing the iPad.

    Buyer Beware

bought November and quite happy but have noticed that my beautiful iPad Pro is being damaged by the case. Scratch across both top & bottom (portrait is the way the case works). Full width of screen. Just thought I hadn't cleaned it properly till I looked closely. Also on the back which you never look at it's all scratched. VERY POOR.

    Damages iPad Pro 12.9

Be very careful purchasing this keyboard. The one I received, received in January from Apple.com, has done significant damage to my iPad Pro 12.9. The metal casing on the keyboard has worn straight line scratches the length of my screen along the edge of the keyboard. To make this problem even worse I've had no luck in speaking with anyone at Apple who can resolve this issue. Frankly I'm shocked Apple would continue to sell and endorse an accessory that damages and degrades the customer experience of one of their flagship products. I look to them to have stricter quality controls.

Logitech create keyboard scratching iPad Pro screen

Love the iPad Pro, as I wasn't able to get the apple keyboard at time of release, sales rep at Apple Store suggested the Logitech create, it was endorsed by Apple and my understanding is Apple gave input into its design. Well 4 months into using the keyboard, it's scratched my iPad Pro screen. When you close the case, the palm rest design touches the screen and over time I believe their is constant small movement that leaves a gloss line on the screen. Tried cleaning to no effect. I'm going to be talking to Apple tomorrow and see if I can get this addressed. It was advertised to protect the ape pro. It's a shame that design team didn't discover this at testing.
Haven't heard back from Logitech, very disappointed.
Spent over 1000 pound on this iPad Pro and I hope apple takes back keyboard and allows me to upgrade it to the Apple keyboard and replaces the now damaged iPad Pro.

    Great Design and Functionality

This keyboard case transformed my iPad Pro into a laptop substitute for most of my business purposes. Though I own a MacBook Pro, I am able to accomplish 90% of my work with this iPad/Logitech combination. Very good tactile feel when typing, effective backlighting, and useful keys for screen brightness, sound and media control. After using it for several months, I am very satisfied, and have not experienced any "scratching" issues discussed by some reviewers -- and I open/close my keyboard-cover many times a day... every day.

Damages screen - avoid! Effecting many people.

After 3 months use the palm rest of the keyboard has badly scuffed the screen of the iPad Pro. There is an obvious mark the full width of the screen.
The US apple.com and Amazon reviews show many people with this problem.
    Avoid this product.

Danger! It damages your ipad pro!

Types very wel and protects your ipad for damage from the outside world. But watch out it is a wolf in sheep's clothing it damages for ever your screen within months! Long stripes on the upper and lower part of your screen. I am now in the process to activate Logitech to take responsibility for this faulty product.

    Logitech CREATE Keyboard -almost perfect

A great keyboard. Perfect for typing. I am a touch typist and it is flawless. All necessary keys and functions. Great feel. Backlite is great.
    Only 2 negatives:
    1. On the heavy side - almost like carrying a laptop .
    2. It DOES scratch the screen. A line just below the space bar ....leaving marks on the screen. However, I have a screen protector on so I can live with it. Annoying though.
If Logitech could improve on weight and correct point 2. Perfect!
