    Works as advertised

Having taken a glance at other reviews I trust you will understand why I didn't buy this adapter with any great expectations! Nonetheless, I must give credit where credit is due, and it seems that by God's good grace I have been exempted from the rather negative experiences endured by my co-reviewers.

This Belkin Ethernet Adapter has consistently provided full gigabit speed networking to my 2017 MacBook Pro 15" since I bought it six months ago. My wireless networking solution is flimsy at the best of times, so this adapter has doubtless saved me more than a few headaches!

I can recommend this adapter based on my own experience, but do be aware that others have not been lucky as I! I'm sure that if your purchase yields a dud, you will be able to return it.

the adapter apple forgot to make

    • Written by Josh C from Spring Hill

This adapter works perfectly with my brand new 2018 MBP with Touch Bar. The adapter is well-designed and feels durable. I love that the MAC address is printed on the bottom so it can easily be registered for use on enterprise networks. My only complaint is that the adapter runs a little warm under full load, but this is because of the active circuitry inside that relies on passive cooling. Long story short, if you're going to be sitting in bed with your Mac in your lap, just use wireless. I rely on 802.11ac Wi-Fi, but this adapter is perfect for the occasional large download or to start network recovery.

    It works!

I was skeptical after reading all the negative reviews. I used this adapter to restore my 2016 MacBook Pro w/touchbar from my Apple Time Capsule 2TB. I plugged in the Belkin adapter to the right side of the laptop, without installing any drivers and it just works! Adapter does get a little warm, but not hot. Apple's "Network Utility" confirms 1 Gbit/s link speed. My system has been restored and I'm now a happy camper!

CHECK YOUR ENET CABLE TYPE !!!

    • Written by WILLIAM D from VENETIA

This Belkin adapter works great for me with a standard Ethernet 5 or 5E cable. But it won't work with a 5E Patch Cord. I mention it because I had been using this 5E Patch Cord as the connect method for a Lenovo Windows laptop which worked great. So, when I went to setup the Macbook Pro (2017) and the Belkin USB-C to Ethernet Adapter, I simply plugged the Belkin to that cable that was successful with the Lenovo. NO! After some troubleshooting, and talking with Will at Apple Support, we stumbled upon this being a patch cord. I switched over to a standard Ethernet 5E and it worked immediately as expected. CHECK YOUR CABLE. It's so easy to trip on this detail. It's always something.

My Belkin USB-C to Ethernet Adapter works perfectly. It works fine with my MacBook Pro 13" and I can control our servers and systems perfectly. It gets a little bit warm during the day (around 40 degrees Celsius) but its okay.
