    Lost remote access after TVIOS update

    After the latest Apple TV update the only way to connect to the lock is local with bluetooth. I've read that Apple and Schlage have not accepted responsibity for the bug so no patch on the horizon. Not good for my lock that is in a rental property that I now can't add, change, delete codes or see status. I will be replacing the lock with another brand.

    Love this Smart Lock

    This is so awesome to come home and not have to dig for your keys. I walk up and ask "Hey Siri Unlock the Door" about 30 seconds later BAM the door opens!!! When I'm leaving and the same thing "Hey Siri Lock the Door" and the door is locked. I don't have to worry if someone moved the key for the baby sitter because she has her own code and as soon as she uses it I get an alert across my phone to let me know if she unlocked or locked my door. m you can give limited time access to people as well. I can't say enough about this. Only other improvement would be a Geo unlock with your cell phone.

    6 months and no service and updates ��

    More than 6 months that HomeKit ask all the time for un update of the firmware and launch App Schlage... but no update menu or link nowhere... Sent 3 requests for help and nothing ! �� Even the last app update didn't change anything... Have to live with the error and Notification 1 on HomeKit !

    It Just Worked

    So far I've had this lock for about a month. I followed the instructions and it worked first go. I'm at a loss as to the negative reviews. I did not experience any of the issues that others appeared to have.

    My kids use it and - via Homekit - I have provided access to others who require entry to my home.

    Don't believe the negative reviews. This thing just works out of the box.

    Nice lock

    I am very pleased with my Smart Sense. It does everything it promised to do. Whatever problem - and there was only one - during installation was my fault not the instructions. Once i read more carefully everything was very easy. Setting up the apps and Home was surprisingly easy. It almost set itself up. I am still working on sharing the data with other users of the lock but that is not the lock's fault. It is expensive but I believe worth it. It also provides 5 ways of unlocking your door - key, app, remote, keypad, and Siri. It is impressive and actually makes me smile.

    Installation was pretty easy and took maybe half an hour in total - Our house is fairly new so everything lined up properly. App setup was quick as well. I setup the Sense to auto lock after 15 seconds - very handy feature for us.

    Not certified for apartments or units in a building

    Non fire standard, due to deadbolt manual action.
    This needs to be on the description.
    Only suitable for houses with external doors.
    Disappointed.

    It’s working at the moment

    I have had this system for 4 months and couldn’t get it to consistently operate from my iPhone. However after reading comments in this forum I changed my Apple TV sleep mode to never and presto it works. I will check in again in a month or two to confirm it is still operating. Fingers crossed as I believe it is a great system.

    Not very good.

    This is not a very user-friendly or well-thought-out product, neither the hardware nor the software. Setup is gnarly, and the app is contrary and does not not always function properly. Heaven forbid you should have to reset the thing. It was obviously designed by engineers who don't think like home users. I'm pretty savvy, and it was painful hour getting it setup. Plus, the keypad is impossible to see at night. My guests often ask me where the dang keypad is. It has no glow, so the numbers are invisible. If I had it to do again, I'd buy something else.

    Unconscionable!

    Absolute frustration with this product!! Schlage owes me a refund, an apology and a cash reimbursement for my hours of wasted time. Do not buy this product!

    - The connectivity is horrible (yes, I have a very strong commercial-grade WIFI system).
    - The app locks up and shows errors when connecting to Bluetooth.
    - Apple Home and this product do not work (constant “no response” messages)

    I’ve downloaded every upgrade, deleted devices, reinstalled, unhooked batteries, updated firmware ... everything! This is absolute junk.

    How does someone sell garbage like this?! Their latest app upgrade states “we’ve listened to our customers”. I think not! Do your customers a favour and recall this product and give us all our money back!!

    Apple should be regretful for attaching their name to this junk.

    Awful

    Have had two of these for a long time. A smattering of tolerable issues along the way such as slowness and intermittent connectivity. This last update however, end of October, 2017, was terrible. Just awful. Both locks unreachable after they pushed out a firmware update. Customer service unapologetically told me I had to delete all devices, reset the locks to factory default, and redo all programming. We regret the purchase.

    works for me

    its working properly at my main home for the whole year so far, even tough it is slow to connect using the app to change codes and add users but it works.
    The only issue that I am having is on my secondary home but I think is a homekit issue where my apple TV its not showing the proper location.

    Don't get this Lock. READ WHY.

    I got this lock over a year ago. The installation was ok, but the tech setup took over three tries before it worked with the phone. Customer service were clueless. The lock worked ok for 2 months, after which the phone devices didn't control the lock, heres why. After an IOS update the lock quit working ( only worked from Keypad ). Call Schlage again, they reply "we're working on the issue", with no time line to resolve it. Six weeks later update was released and it started working. This last IOS apple update was the same issue again. Schlage firmware downloads and to this date the lock still does not work from the phone devices. Reset lock to Factory inbox condition and perform setup with no results. The lock is out of warrently, also don't believe a new lock from the same brand would be the answer other than investigating other brands and their issues.

    Schlage Needs to Wake Up

    Very disappointed with this product. Took forever to set up. Had to reset the deadbolt multiple times to finally get it to accept a firmware upgrade. Finally have the Schlage Sense App working on an iPhone with iOS 11. However I can't integrate it with Apple's Home App. I get the impression that you currently need Apple TV since the Schlage Sense lock has its own hub which costs extra. After paying $200+ for the lock plus another $200 for a new entrance hand set, I'm not going to pay anymore for a proprietary hub. Wake up Schlage, you're completely destroying your name with such a temperamental product.

    Poor Stability

    When it works it works fine, but there are so many issues to get set up and keep it working it's just not worth the trouble. Now they claim the firmware update is causing problems and you have to completely delete the app and reinstall it, take out the batteries all while by the unit to make it work again. Until the next update. If you are considering this product, run don't walk to the nearest exit!!

    Don't Buy

    Worked okay for about a 2 weeks. After that forget it. Tried everything to get it up and running again, but no luck. No problems with other devices. August works flawlessly.

    Solid lock. Don't believe the bad reviews.

    First time writing a review on the Apple Store. Felt like I needed to try to balance out all the negative reviews which I honestly don't understand. Some of these people must be doing it wrong.

    The lock installed easily with very straightforward directions - they even have an installation video in the app that walks you through the process step by step. Very handy.

    Once the lock was installed, setting it up in the app was a breeze. The app easily found my lock and initial setup was over in two minutes. After a 10 minute firmware update, the lock was up and running, available in HomeKit and controllable through Siri. The only "downside" I see is that in order to change lock settings or create passcodes, you have to be within bluetooth range of the lock. But I don't find that wholly unreasonable for security reasons, and again, that's only for changing lock settings and key codes. You can check the status of the lock and lock/unlock it from anywhere once it's setup in HomeKit. I use an iPad mini as a HomeKit hub.

    The only feature I wish it had was geofencing for autounlocking. But the lack of this feature isn't a deal breaker.

    Yes, the lock is loud. Like, very loud. And that might turn some people off. Personally, I'll go with the grade 1 security rating of Schlage over a quieter lock like Kwikset with a lesser security rating. There's also the August Smart Lock but that doesn't have built in HomeKit support, charges you $100 for a passcode feature, and installs on your current deadbolt - which, as long as you have a good deadbolt already, might be a good option. But for those looking for a new, better, more secure deadbolt that's compatible with HomeKit, you can't beat the Schlage Sense.

    And now I sound like a paid corporate shill.

    Do not buy! Privacy issues!

    They've updated the app and now you have to supply your personal
    information to use the locks.

    It's a bad idea to tell someone your address and then give them access to
    your lock and unlock logs.

    Schlage should be ashamed and give refunds to existing customers.

    Schlage has always made amazing locks. It doesn't stop here. Very happy with mine. I ask Siri all the time if my deadbolt is locked. Love it.

    Bit of a pain to install, but it works well

    We purchased this after a bad experience where our pet sitter did not show up while we were away, leaving our pets home alone for a week (!! Hooray for drinking the toilet water!). This works amazingly well to keep track of who is coming and going in your house. My kids have different codes, so we know when they've come home too.

    It was a bit of a painful multi-day process to get it installed, with a couple of calls to Schlage. The first difficulty was the actual lock was physically rotated and wouldn't fit. We luckily came across a review from someone else on the internet, who described how he fixed it (with help from customer support). It was a life-saver for us, because it was after hours by this stage (no customer support available) and we did not have a working lock on our door. I wish they had that in their helpful FAQs!

    I did have to have customer support walk me through setting up the home hub, because that aspect wasn't working. We could control it via bluetooth, but not remotely. Some uninstalls and reinstalls later and it was up and running.

    We've had it for just over 6 months. We haven't had any problems, or had to replace the batteries yet. I'm very glad we purchased this lock. Nice to be able to control the door remotely, and wonderful peace of mind to know people are actually coming and going when they should.
