    Perfect for Holiday Lights

    • Written by Aaron C from Cincinnati

Picked this up so we could put our lights on a schedule and not have to plug and unplug them every night in the cold. Like the iDevices Single Switch I already owned, had no issues connecting or staying connected through HomeKit. Really simple to use and I love the app. It's actually nicer than the built in "Home" application from Apple. For the price, I was hoping to have individual control over each outlet, so I give it 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise a great product from iDevices.

    Great product

    • Written by Richard V from Whittier

Works for me every time I assume other people do not update their device - I love the ease of turning my patio string lights - I want to purchase other idevice products and hope to do so in 2017-2018. A bit expensive but worth the money in my opinion vs paying for an Electrican.

    Excellent outdoor, weather-resistant switch.

    • Written by John C from Warren

Have used two of these for about six months, now. They have performed well, improving through firmware and app updates so that they are nearly bulletproof. Using Alexa or Siri to control them is a snap.

    Great product

I used this over the holidays to turn on and off my holiday lights on the front of my house. The switch was on the very edge of my WIFI network and worked perfectly every time. Will be using this for the upcoming summer nights to turn on and off my bug zapper on our patio. We live out in the country a bit and will be nice to have the zapper on before I think about heading out to the patio to relax.

    Great outdoor HomeKit controlled switch!

    • Written by Jeff S from Strongsville

I got this outdoor HomeKit controlled switch for use with Christmas lights in the winter, and a fountain in the summer. It is great to have automated schedules for these items, and a bonus to add voice control with Siri! It would be nice to be able to control the two outlets separately. Currently this is the only option available for outdoor HomeKit control. I have a couple of the iDevices indoor switches, and they have been working great also. I like that these devices use WiFi, and don't require an additional hub, or use the less reliable Bluetooth connection like other company's options. The nightlight feature is unique also, and can be controlled independently from the switch control. The app is easy to use, and setting up automation schedules is simple also.

    Great products!

Has worked quite well for our outdoor needs

    • Written by David N from Simpsonville

We bought this to serve as the control box for our outside Christmas decorations/lights. Can say it worked flawlessly and was easy to sync up with on my iPhone. It's light but feels durable, and after being exposed to rain some evenings, it worked with out a short or failure.

I might add that one of the charms of this (and every iDevice) is the app. We have purchased an additional 3 wall switches for inside and along with our 2 Ecobee thermostats, all can be controlled, scheduled, and monitored/notified through the iDevice app. In comparison to Apple's HomeKit app, this app blows it away (with newest version 3/17)! I'd go so far as to say that the app is what brings the power of HomeKit to realization. Remote access with scheduling features and even performance reporting is wonderful.

My only reservation for this product to date is the short power cable. It only reaches about ~10 inches...it would be more beneficial considering its outdoor purpose if it had a longer cable, say at 18-24 inches.

Otherwise, I have no complaints about the product, its setup, and its performance...it's worth the price.

Solid device but connection is spotty

    • Written by Micah P from Clovis

I used this device for my Christmas lights and once I got things set up and reliably connected to my Internet, it worked great. The tough part was getting it connected and keeping it connected. We have a very long house and so there were several walls between the device in my router which I'm sure didn't help things, so with a smaller space I expect it would work much better.

    Great for Christmas Lights

    • Written by Donald W from Rogers

Setup was easy through the idevices app. I used this on the porch to control Christmas lights, about 40' from my ATV4. I set up dusk and dawn triggers in the home app and basically forgot it was even there. It worked great, I eventually set triggers to turn it off when I went to bed and come back on when I wake up as well. It was nice to see the energy usage of the lights as well. I am thinking about using this for some outdoor landscape lighting next.

    Two Outlets - 1 Switch

    • Written by Wm. C from Bristow

Product has an ok appearance although the big LED on it flashes which is a bit of a problem when it is outside. The LED is a "steal me" beacon. Unfortunately there is no thought put into the design in any way to secure this product outside. Very easy for someone to walk up and walk off with your $80 gizmo.

More importantly you would think you could independently control each of the outlets. You cannot. That makes it an $80 single outlet controller. There are much less expensive ways of keeping water out of the $49 single outlet; water proofing is not worth $30.

Over all, nice software, ok looking hardware, works smoothly, setup is trivial like all HomeKit devices, very easy to steal out of your yard, disappointing inability to control each outlet independently, majorly over priced. As an x-10 DIYer of the past, I'm expecting a whole lot more for $80.

    Everything connected

    • Written by Mathew B from Windsor

I recently purchased this product and it took less than 5 minutes to setup. It's pretty seamless and you can control the switch from anywhere. I use the switch to control my patio lights, and will switch to Christmas lights in December!

    Expensive and unreliable

    • Written by Brad L from Minneapolis

I've had the idevices outdoor outlet for two days now and each day the outlet has failed. I purchased it through Apple. Failed means it no longer connects through the app and was actually turned on during the time that the app wasn't able to connect with it.

The only solution that I've found is to unplug the outlet to force it to reconnect.

I certainly hope there's a fast follow up on improving the reliability of this outlet. Otherwise it was a colossal waste of money.
