    Simple

This is a good simple product and easy to setup and and provides some data about the item you have plugged in if you want it.

Only bad thing really is the size but good simple item and does what it says.

Worked great - at first. Just don't use for Fridge

Bought this device several months ago as part of my "home efficiency" analysis for my new home. I am currently using far more power at the new house than the old house so i thought id do some investigation. I plugged almost everything in the house into this thing (one at a time) to get max power and average power use so that i know how much power things use. (I found out that my old fridge was running 24x7 and costing me about $200 annually for power.) I tested a fridge at my trailer to see if it was still good. Unfortunately, while i was away, it turned off. I lost about $50 worth of meat, ice cream and other stufff. Not too big a deal. I brought the device home and plugged in my main fridge last weekend. In the last 5 days it has shut off 5 times. I cant find any reason. Fortunately, we use the fridge every day and notice the light not on (which means - turn the eve energy back on). I'm going to try the device on several other things in the upcoming weeks to see if it is just fridges that it has problems with or if the unit is having problems.
Other than the reliablility factor, i like the product. I don't like how easy it is to turn it off when a fridge is plugged into it, but that is probably my problem. I also think that the Eve UI could use some work, although it does have a plethora of information.

Elgato Eve Energy Competitive and Capable

I purchased the Elgato Eve Energy and have been using it for about a month. The product works perfectly. It is responsive and I have not yet had a moment where something didn't seem quite correct.

Furthermore, The energy consumption monitor is superb. There are numerous other devices on the market that monitor energy and can control the power state of a fixture but this comes with the ability to really dive deep into the energy usage via the Elgato Eve application.
Elgato Eve's application is far superior to other product based applications as it is more robust and allows for much more complex automation to be created by the user.

    Great Product!

    Stopped working after 4 months

    - The plug worked ok for 4 months, was plugged in and working fine, but one fine day suddenly stopped
    - All the documentation included with the item, and online is out of date. Kept mentioning press a button on the side to reset. There is no button on the side
    - Called customer support, very courteous and available on Sunday. They also repeated the same instructions - to press the button on the side. When I mentioned there was none, they went to the lab to get a real product to check. Found out there was no button and that the LED in front not side was also the button. Pressing that did not reset.
    - Started a case, so will probably be replaced under warranty.
    - The customer service person asked where in the world I was calling from - which is understandable - as they have different product versions in different parts of the world. However, the people working on the case started the case by asking the same question over email.
    - One star, as it has been forever since I bought something which stopped working within few months and under warranty. Not the best use of my time to follow-up on warranty. Have bought similar products from iDevices which have been working fine without needing any special attention.

Very nice - but Apple TV is required for most features

After ordering this online, I realised that an Apple TV (4th Gen!) is required in the home to get most things working. I wish this was clearer in the description.

The unit uses Bluetooth, so without an Apple TV you need to be within its vicinity to get it working.Once it's paired with an Apple TV or iPad running iOS 10 that stays at home, it then gets 'internet access' and some features become available. Quite a shame really this is not clear up front.

Limitations when no Apple TV available.

*Remote controls will not be available - only within Bluetooth range works
*Family sharing will not be available - although you can invite them
    *Automation will not be available

From the above, family sharing is my biggest gripe. You can invite others to control the unit, but they won't be able to control it. (I haven't yet tested if multiple people can pair to a single unit)

It is otherwise a nice unit. Well built, easily paired and installed and makes a satisfying virtual switch sound when switching on and off.

If I had known the above I would have sought a wi-fi enabled switch.

Perfect for use while on vacation

This product is exactly what we needed for when on vacation. For years we would just leave a bedroom light on to deter anyone who thought the house would be a target for theft with all the lights off for an extended period of time. Now we can schedule the light to come on at dark and off during the day which saves electricity and better for the environment. It was very easy to pair and one of the best features is you can manually override the schedule if need be. Will be good for Christmas tree usage as well!

5 stars for sure! I would get more, but at $50 a unit, it makes it hard to justify. Its solid though.

    eve energy

I can't believe how easy it was to set up and even easier
to use. I have kicked many chairs or tables leaving
a dark room in the past at night headed to another room but
never again. This is a must have in all my rooms

    Really nice but too wide

Functionality is fantastic and setup was super easy. Only gripe is the width of the unit as it prevents anything being plugged into a duel power point.
I have it setup to turn on my bathroom heater in the morning.
Would love a L and R sided versions so I don't loose two power points

Defective - tuns off at random

After using the plug for 24 hours, it is very clear that this plug has a very serious problem: It turns off all by itself at random. This happened to me 6 times in one day. I wondered if this was unique to my individual unit, but after reading the reviews on amazon I realized that other people are having exactly the same problem. I am returning it for a refund.

Pretty cool to see where my electricity is going!

I've had the Energy for a month or so now and have been using it with my mobile devices to see how much power they use when charging and how much they use when charged up. I love it for that. I should hook it up to other appliances as well to see how much energy they are using and see if I can replace any with more efficient devices.

I also would like to hook it up with the motion sensor and get some true event triggers happening. I'm just getting started with this home automation stuff! These Elgato Eve devices make it easy to set up. I wish they had more support/use docs on their website.

Simple Setup - Works Perfectly - App could use some improvements

I've got 4 of these now and am very pleased. They're extremely simple to set up and use. I have access to my outlets wherever I am now. They've worked great with absolutely no issue.

The app is decent but the interface could be improved. You have to hold and keep your finger on it when using At A Glance mode otherwise it'll turn off the outlet. Not a huge issue but I have my fridge on one of these and am fearful I might accidentally turn that off.

In general, this is a great range of products.

    Works a dream

I purchased one to test as I want to control lamps in my lounge. Setup was very simple and whilst I installed the Eve app, I have tended to use the built in Home app to control it. It has worked 100% of the time and using my Apple TV as a hub required no setup and has worked without issue. I'll be ordering more very soon to complete the project.

Australian Model - Current Draw: Power Trips :-(

I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Eve Power in AU... So pretty pleased to see it in the Apple store yesterday - disappointed that it doesn't work as expected though. HomeKit works as expected - very well. The power control not so much.

After installing and setting up the Eve Energy with my coffee machine I noticed that whilst Siri works perfectly to turn it on and off, the power trips off almost immediately.

I then looked at the power limits of this device and found it will only handle 1840 watts. This is NOT mentioned on the packaging, but inside on a sticker.

In Australia, heaters and many coffee machines can draw up to 2400 watts. My coffee machine is 2300 watts.

I think Elgato needs to up the specs for the AU model, as it is not going to work for a lot of products sold here.

    Second time lucky

The first unit was a dud and I had to return it to Apple for a replacement. The second device worked as per the box. Easy to setup and configure. As this was my first Home Kit device, I had issues with Apple TV. The fix was simple, I just had to logout of iCloud and then back in. Now I can use Siri to turn on and off my lights. The lights are also set to turn on automatically if I come home after sunset. At night I just call out to Siri to turn off the lights - no need to hunt for the switch.

    turns off by itself

This would be a 5 star product, if it actually worked.

I hooked it up to a wall air conditioner. It turns itself off randomly every couple hours. In one day it will turn itself off 3-5 times.

I tried multiple units and they all produce the same problem.

    Disappointed

I purchased four of these to work with my Apple TV 4th Gen, I hoped to use the Automations and geofencing options. However after a month of trying I or even Apple couldn't get them to work reliably, locally you could turn on and off the devices all be it slowly, however the Automations would just not work or very rarely work.

Big disappointment as both Apple and Elgato have good reputations, I've ended up selling them and gone for another system.

    Very disappointing

I bought this to control some outside lights so that when we drive in we switch on the lights but it will only work on one phone so my wife cannot turn on and off the lights. I called the helpline and they told me to switch on and off the lights manually. Well, i think that defeats the object of a wifi plug.

    Great

I purchased one plug to see how well it worked. I am happily impressed. I waited to get one for a while because I wanted it to work with HomeKit and it was the first in the U.K. To do so.. For features and apples excellent approach to security.

Setup was straightforward and fast (except my Tv see below). Reliability so far is 100%. I can use the plug with Siri, or control centre to quickly automate it. As well as the Eve App and Apples Home App. Home App scenes have a sunset / rise feature not in the Eve App btw. I really like the simplicity of the Home App combined with Siri and control centre.

Only issue I encountered was with HomeKit and my Tv. In order to use HomeKit you need keychain enabled and to use two-factor authentication. When I enabled the latter on my iPad it did the same on my iPhone. But when I went to use the HomeKit app it wasn't showing my Tv as a hub. Without that you cannot automate it away from home etc. It turned out that I needed to sign out of my Tv and then sign in again, now with two-factor authentication (which was active now from turning it on with my iPad). Then it all just worked, and my Tv set itself up with the Home App. It was a bit frustrating for the two days I spent scratching my head and looking at manuals and forums Until I came across the solution for myself by trial n error.

More detailed help for trouble shooting setup issues would be great.

Other than that teething problem, I really like it and intend to get more. Great to be able to monitor power usage too as a bonus.

I bought 2 - work as expected, will be buying more

I didn't bother with the Elgato app because I already know how much power the lamps draw from the socket. My main use for these is as internet controlled switches. These plugs integrate straight into iOS. I have an apple tv4 and remote control from outside my network works fine. Siri commands work fine, and quickly. I like the ability to be able to switch multiple sockets on and off at once. I like the simple-but-powerful timer functionality, and especially the sunset and sunrise events which act as a photo diode substitute. Bit expensive maybe, but the potential they give for automating a whole house is incredible.
