Catastrophically bad design > catastrophically bad results ( CRACKED PHONE)

    • Written by Tony M from Montreal

AS you can read on the many reviews here,
    1) people can't hear you - Case is over Microphone
    2) It is impossible to use the the silence button

AS a result of 1) and 2) I was constantly having to peel off the case so people can hear me or to Silence/Un Silence/ Mute phone. As a result of the pressure required to peel of the case, it cracked the glass , front and back on my phone. DO NOT BUY. I Wish i could show pics here.

Lastly - this was recommended by an Apple rep in an Apple store. .....

C mon we expect better and further more for you to make it right for all affected....

Don't WASTE your MONEY - this is a DUD

    • Written by Sarah B from Perth

I have previously used a Tech 21 case on my Iphone 6 and it was perfect. This looks great but is totally useless. Incoming callers can not hear you at all. I have tried to contact the supplier with no result. My advice DON"T BUY and spread the word. Also very hard to access the silent swtich. USELESS bit of plastic. It is a shame you can not submit this review with no stars as it does not deserve one.

    Surprised by poor quality

    • Written by Frederik D from Saint-Constant

I've been a fan of Tech21 cases and let me tell you, this one is disappointing. The bottom of the case doesn't wrap correctly, obstructing the speakers and the Lightning port. It doesn't look like it's a good fit by looking it bottom-up (not a straight line, rather a curved one. Feels like the case if forcing itself in or could end up damaging the phone. Also, have to force Lightning connector in and pry the case (which seems damaged now) to plug in properly. Also, it seems to limit the enhanced stereo speakers from playing correctly. Also, the mute switch is hardly accessible. another surprise was that the Apple specialist did propose to test with the same case in case it was a one off and the issue was there as well, suggesting that it's by design. Reached out to Tech21 support and hopefully the experience will be better with an alternate solution. If not, returning this case and looking for a new favorite case manufacturer.

    Very Impressed!

    • Written by Elisa C from Sydney

I bought my iphone 8 plus back in september when it frist came out, and bought my tech 21 evo case with it straight away. I’m very impressed with it, i’ve dropped it a couple of times and it was very protective. Also, the design is very beautiful and classy! And i also don’t have any problems involving stiff button areas to the point where i cant, of course they’re stiff because its protective but you can still use it. And i aslo haven’t experienced any microphone problems at all! Overall, i’m very happy with my case purchase, although im a bit disappointed with my phone purchase because it freezes at times eversince i bought it!

Callers can’t here you with this case, you either need earphones on or loudspeaker for them their clearly. The silent switch is difficult to access, if you don’t have nails then a pencil will be required. The clasp gives up after 4 months and falls off. Not worth the money

    Callers can't hear me

    • Written by Cathy G from Reno

First and last time I buy a Tech21 case (recommended to me at the Apple Store when I purchased my iphone 8).

    My two main issues:

    1) Callers can barely hear me when I have the case on my phone - I sound muffled - like I'm in a tunnel. When I take the case off, callers can hear me perfectly.

    2) It's hard to get the power button to work when the case is on.

These are two basic functions that I'm surprised made it past any company's QA department.

I have a message into Tech21 to see if they can either replace it with a different case that doesn't interfere with my iPhone's microphone, or if not, if I can return the case for a refund. Awaiting an answer.

    Do NOT buy this Case!

    • Written by p P from port talbot

This has damaged the back of my iPhone 7plus cosmetically! I have not removed my case from my phone since the day of purchase back in Nov2016, I have removed the case for the first time I shockingly discovered the back of my phone has been covered in thousands of hexagons shapes that cannot be removed, You buy a case to protect your phone Not to Damage it! Thanks a bunch Tech21 for such a well built NON protective product.....

I’m sorry to say that the iPhone 7 case is also flawed. You can not press the power button. Who checks these?

No incoming call sound when using this wallet

    • Written by Margaret H from Solihull

Just received my first Tech 21 Evo Wallet/active in pink for my iPhone 7 plus. It looks really smart and feminine. Unfortunately, every incoming caller cannot hear my voice. This is every time. Took it to the apple shop where they tried it without the wallet and the sound was normal. They then tried my wallet in a brand new phone with my case on and once again the sound quality was zero. Clearly the design at the bottom of the casing, where it goes across the row of microphone speaker dots is stopping the sound from being picked up. I'm so disappointed in this design fault and I surely can't be the only one who has experienced this problem.

    Will have to return it.

    Great Quality Case

    • Written by Evan K from Panorama

I bought this case and loved the look of it on my white 7 Plus, but like some of the other reviewers, found the same issues - poor fitting around the bottom of the case and a hard to access mute button on the side. Unfortunately, I read those reviews after I bought it. Before returning it, I tried a Black case on and noticed a much snugger fit and a better opening on the side for the mute button. I took my white case back to Apple and explained the problem, and that a black case at the Telstra Shop seemed to fit much better. The assistant was heaps helpful. He took all 21 of the cases on the shop floor and we tried each one on for size. Only 3 of them fit better and more snugly like the black one did. It seems the first batch of cases had a few design faults and the more recent batches are much better. If you like the case and are finding the same issues as some of the other reviewers, take it back to Apple and explain and try on as many others as you can. You're bound to find one with the new "redesigned" features. I'm glad I persevered because I love the way this case looks and feels on my phone.

Tech 21's Design and Quality Control on the Decline

    • Written by John D from San Diego

I just received my IPhone 7 Plus and felt confident that the Tech21 product would do as good a job as my previous three Tech21 cases. Man, was I wrong. Visually, it is very close to other such cases I have purchased for my Apple phones, but the functionality of this case is severely lacking. Obviously, the design team did not do much product testing before releasing it to sell.

I don't have nubs for fingers -- and my fingernails are on the short side -- but there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that I can access the mute switch without using a pencil or -- saints preserve us -- a stylus. If I had any idea that the switch would be so recessed in the case, I would have purchased a different case.

If you are considering a Tech21 case for your IPhone (whether or not you have ever used one), please take my suggestion and be VERY skeptical of the design. Do not rely on past experiences, or you will end up being as sorry as I am. Now, I have to go hunting for a useful and well-designed case that meets my needs the way that the previous Tech21 cases did.

    Could be great, but...

    • Written by Stephen C from Austin

Although this case looks good and feels good in the hand, it has a few serious problems:

    - Poor fit around the bottom of the phone. It's so loose that the bottom of the case can start coming off when you pull the phone out of your pocket.

    - Stiff, non-responsive buttons. The plastic buttons on the case are stiff and hard to press.

    - Poor design for the mute switch opening. The opening is too small, at least for my hands, which makes the mute switch hard to reach.

I'm sorry I wasted my money on this case.

Bottom of case does not wrap around iPhone 7 Plus correctly.

    • Written by Jason R from Indian Land

Purchased this case with my iPhone 7 Plus and the design at the bottom is either flawed or I received a defective product. The rubber does not wrap completely around the speaker area to the top of the phone and "snap" into place over the glass. It instead is lax and you can push it out of the way easily with your finger, exposing the glass edge to damage. This also prevents the charging cable from being plugged in without some wiggling. For $40 this is unacceptable, returning item.

Impressed with my Tech21 Evo Mesh case for my new iPhone 7 Plus!

    • Written by BM P from Cumming

I'm really impressed with my Tech21 Evo Mesh case for my new iPhone 7 Plus! I have the white case on my rose gold and it looks really nice and feels even better. I've always used a tuff case like the Otterbox Defender or the LifeProof Nuud for protection (so glad I don't have to worry about a waterproof case anymore). This is my first bumper style case. It's very "grippy", I haven't dropped my phone once yet. I'm so glad the cameras and speakers aren't covered with glass or film. It really makes hearing and pictures much clearer. I also like that the charging/earphone port is wide open and will fit third party chargers/earphones. I bought 3 for me and my 2 kids and we're all satisfied.

I don't have any trouble with the power/volume buttons or the mute switch and i keep my nails pretty short. The bottom of the case does feel a little loose, hopefully that won't be an issue in the future, but my husband has the same case on his 6S plus, and it has lived through drops without issue and it hasn't become looser. So far, so good!

    **** case

    • Written by Brett D from Brisbane

This case is the worst iPhone case I've ever owned.
    Buttons don't press easily.
mute button is difficult to switch.
doesn't stay on the phone properly.
I only got it as I needed something there and then and didn't want to get ripped off ore then what I already had.
These phone cases are nicely packaged but it is basically a polished nard.

It does "bulk"-up the iPhone 7 Plus ....

    • Written by HONG KHENG L from SYDNEY

Plus tends to come off the corner, the lower home button end, when you take it out from your jeans - note not on tight fitting jeans but normal straight gut jeans.
The buttons are ok ... and if they could improve on the next design, they should include cover portion on the sound on/off button.
I will not recommend my friends to buy this for their iPhone 7 Plus.

Hard to reach the mute button

    • Written by Michael S from Aurora

I've used Tech21 cases for years and have always been a fan. They are no longer using D3O as a shock absorption material, which is a disappointment, but I'll give their new material a chance. This case makes it tough to reach the mute switch above the volume buttons. I struggle every time to reach it with the end of my fingernail. Keep a pencil handy to get in there to flip it. Seriously.

    Button covers not well designed

    • Written by IAN H from Sydney

This case makes it very difficult to press the lock button on my iPhone 7. The material of the button cover is quite stiff and hard to depress the few mm thickness of the case; and the button cover doesn't seem to sit right on top of the lock button - it needs to be further towards the front of the case to work less awkwardly.

Awesome case for iPhone 7 Plus

    • Written by Willaim H from Farmington

I just love Tech21 cases and must have over 5-6 of them on different iPhones. With the new iPhone 7 Plus, to me there's only one choice Tech21. With the black iPhone 7 Plus I wanted a case that would enhance the classic black look while complimenting it. This black case has the perfect look with that classic Mac Pro look on the back. As always the car is solid, makes the phone easy to hold and doesn't add much bulk. All while keeping my phone safe from drops! What more can I say? Just Awesome!
