    run from this product

I bought this 150.00 product as a gift and wish i would have went with the Nest. Installation as far as wiring was a piece of cake but programming it through the app is a different story... Every time i have tried to connect the device to the app and to WIFI, i get a "Device not found error".. I have called tech support several times and the issue still has not been resolved, So i am going to box the piece of sh@# up and send it back... THE MORAL OF THIS STORY IS.....DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!

Works wonderfully with native App not with homekit

Nothing but issues with this thermostat and it’s conn to HomeKit.
Half the time I try to use Siri with this product it becomes non responsive. I’ve tried troubleshooting to no avail even swapped for a new thermostat still does not work properly.

Trouble shooting steps included multiple factory resets, Assigning the Lyric a static IP, assigning it it’s own 2.4 ghz network on its own LAN, putting it on a mesh network. So far nothing has solved my problem and Honeywell points the finger at Apple. It’s been almost a year of this nonsense and it’s still not fixed.

So close and yet so far...

Installing the T5 was easy but the instructions that come with it are horrible.
They attempted to write the instructions so that anyone could install it.
They succeeded in making the instructions a bunch of gibberish.
Luckily this is the age of google and a quick search solved that problem.

Installing the app is also easy. Set it up on 2 iphones and programmed the geofencing.
Worked like a charm, kept temps as programmed and sent notifications when I crossed the boundary.
On the 4th day it stopped sending notifications and no longer recognized 2nd phone.
5th day, it didn't recognize either phone.

I finally got an email from Lyric with 2 steps to try.
Did the 2 steps and sent them an email saying it didn't work.
This is the response I got.
"I am truly sorry that you are having issues with your Lyric T5.
Please keep in mind that if you wish to proceed with the troubleshoots we are more than happy to help."

I bought the T5 because of the geofencing but now I have to use the daily program mode.
Better than a regular t'stat, but not what was promised.

If the unit had kept working as it did for the first 3 days I would be writing a completely different review.
I think the T5 itself is not the problem. The app however, seems fairly glitchy.
The support is abysmal, emails are not the way to trouble shoot something like this.

Honeywell Lyric App (downloaded from the App Store)

The Lyric app does not communicate with the thermostat. This renders the system almost useless for the purpose it was bought. The thermostat is expensive at £150.
It is disgraceful that Apple should hold this app in their store.

Product only as good as its weakest lin

Lots of weak links throughout the software and hardware. Tech-support of any kind is nonexistent. Luckily the AC installer at my house. He called Honeywell. After 15 minutes of back-and-forth, got the app to work. With software loaded on both my iPhone and my iPad the outside temperatures iPhone verifies correct reading; 72°F; conflicts with the iPad reading 91°F. The sleep option cycle does not integrate with manual operations correctly. Could not fix these design failures . Geo fence seems to operate as though the two devices don't recognize each other… If one is away both are away. The home/away settings on the thermostat appear to override the geo-fence. Fortunately you can override everything by manually changing the temperature on your iPhone. This is not a set it and forget it system. Also the lack of confirmation of existing sittings leaves doubt as to the system status. Honeywell… Burn me once shame on you… Never again… No shame on me for sure. This device came with my air conditioner. I should've done my own research. You have some good ideas… Your execution is abysmal.

    Works nearly perfectly

I really don't understand the problems or issues of the other reviews... I've had my T-6 (same as T-5 just different color) for 5 months now. I LOVE IT.

My thermostat installed in like 15 minutes start to finish. My son installed it, not a pro.

Setup was easy. App works great, love showing it off to people!

I typically use geofencing to reduce power usage while I'm away from the house, it works VERY well.
While home, it maintains a very even temperature.

It has lost connection to wifi 1 time (my wifi is finicky and is reset at least weekly). That's better than the rest of my smart home.
I simply pulled the thermostat, waited a few seconds, and in 5 seconds it was up and running.

I'd say this deserves 5 stars for a great thermostat, great app, and arriving home to a comfortable setting!

    Future Look:
My only wish would be a sensor so that when people leave doors and windows open that it wouldn't even try to heat/cool the house! After a minute or so of being left open, it should send a msg to me and shut off. Honeywell, here's a great idea!!!

    OK thermostat terrible app

Purchased the Lyric T5, mounted it on the wall, connected the wires as per instructions. Install is straight forward, however setting up the app to finish installation is anything but simple. After an estimated 15 attempts I did finish the set up and for the past month have been using my iPhone 6s to control the thermostat. Twice during the last 30 days the app would lose connection with the thermostat and I had to go through the whole set up process again to reconnect. Yesterday after going through the entire set up process with no luck I called tech support and after a 45 minute call did get the thermostat working again but still no wifi connection with the app. I live in Florida and after 45 minutes of no AC we gave up trying to get the app to work. Yes the process does shut off the AC. Today called tech support again, deleted the app, reloaded the app, went through another 50 minutes of tech support and still could not get the app to finish the set up. The tech said there was a problem on their end and he opened a tech support request to try and resolve the issue. Life is too short to continue to deal with this. FYI if you go to the app and click on the 3 lines on the top left to show the settings screen and push and hold the word "home" it brings up a debug screen you can email to tech support so they can see the issues. I'm returning the Lyric to Home Depot. Don't have the patience to deal with it.

Love this thermostat. Great product Honeywell.

I installed it in February. I am only 26 & I was able to hook it up & get it firmware updated. The geothermal feature is nice. It is IFTTT compatible too. For example everyday at 5pm change temp to 72 degrees. I can't tell you how many times I've been upstairs in my bed & said "Hey Siri change temperature to 72 degrees." Instead of walking down stairs to change temperature like I use to. I have a Quiet Comfort Honeywell Tower fan upstairs too. Love love love this thermostat.

The T5 was relatively easy to set up, but there were some network issues with it communicating to the servers @ Honeywell and it would always be offline. Several calls to their technical support and basically they said I needed to contact my internet provider. I've had a Nest and most recently the ecobee3 and never had an issue with either connecting to their respective servers.

My solution, return both T5's and buy 2 new ecobee3's. Those are both up and running in my house and no server issues at all.

Honeywell's last of customer support have incredibly surprising and now they've lost a customer.

Professional install, easy app setup, couldn't be happier

We had two of these installed along with new AC systems for our house. The techs hadn't installed a lyric before but had no trouble with them. They did need to run a common wire, but this wasn't a set back. There's no way I could have installed these myself without pulling my hair out. However, for the guys that work with these all day...it was a breeze.

They were amazed at how quickly I got everything going with the Lyric app on my phone. Once they left I quickly had it setup with HomeKit and was able to share the controls with my wife. I think these look great compared to the standard white/beige units I'm used to seeing in homes.

The verdict is still out on long term performance, but I'll circle back once I've had a few months to test these out.

easy install. Works great. apple home kit or the native app. It's hard to overstate how delightful it is to tell siri to turn the heat down.

All is well in the Lyric/Apple world

The product was easy to install with the exception that it didn't turn on. I called the help line given for Honeywell and talked with someone who knew the product and pointed me right to the problem which was that The Lyric needed all five wires whereas my old Thermostat made do without the common wire. I ran the extra wire and The thermostat ran. Although I had some difficulties with the communication and app and thermostat, the app was pretty straightforward about how and what to do at any step of the way and it was relatively easy to start over or continue from some mid point. I did get confused with the perpetual naming of things but it was easy to sort out later and made more sense when I installed the second thermostat upstairs. I then installed the app on my wife's phone and when both of us are outside the geofence, the thermostats go into the away settings. When either of us get within the geofence, it goes to the at home settings. Linked them up to Apples Home App and that was maybe even easier however, only the Honeywell app allows you to change your geofence settings. Occasionally, I lose communication with the thermostats and they think I'm away and go to away settings even though I can use the phone to override the temperature setting and I can always manually override right at the thermostat. Honeywell sends me a message to alert me to the problem along with a phone number to call but the communication has always come back within 24 hours, so I never tried that. So I'd say that as easy as it was for me to get off track, it was just as easy if not easier to get back on track. I love how the thermostats work and how easy it is to tweak the settings while for the most part, I do not do anything with the thermostat and always have the right temperature.

    Good thermostat mediocre app.

This thermostat does what I wanted it to do and provides a much more accurate control of the heat in cold winter months. It allows me to use the furnace fan for my passive HRV (heat recovery ventilator) based on a percentage of time operating. The geofencing function works well allowing me to set an away temperature and the distance from home where this kicks in. It also allows me to control the temperature from my iPhone and with Siri. Unfortunately the Lyric software doesn't allow you to make all the adjustments available from the thermostat, and some of the functions are difficult to find. Honeywell is from the traditional thermostat world which would explain the mediocre software. Hopefully they will improve the software to match the quality of the hardware.

Simple installation and operation; excellent thermostat

The negative reviews here are perplexing, as I've had a very pleasant experience with this excellent product. Set-up took just 10-15 minutes, and the app is very pleasant and easy to use. I particularly like the scheduling feature -- the interface couldn't be any easier to use.

I highly recommend this thermostat. It's my first connected home device, and I'll certainly be buying more from Honeywell as they release more of them. Kudos!

    Easy set-up, and works

I was a little discouraged after reading some of the reviews on this page but I bought the thing anyway. I have to say after fewer than thirty minutes of set-up which was not at all as hard as I imagined, this thing was working with the app and my homekit.

I'm assuming there have been some major updates to the software since some of these negative reviews were written because the set-up went smoothly and I can control the thermostat from anywhere via the app. When I am at home, I can ask Siri to adjust the thermostat and have had no issues with that.

The best part is the geo-fencing. When I leave the radius around my house that I set, it changed my status to "away" and adjusted my thermostat accordingly (85 was the preset but you can adjust these numbers too). When I am on my way home from work and enter the radius again, it sets it back to my preferred temperature (72) and my house is cool by the time I get home.

App will not work. No suport

Apple fan and user. This product is the most frustrating experience I ever had. Not able to connect with the app. Call support. After 50 minutes on hold I gave up.
Works as a touch screen thermostat but the app is worthless, Stop connecting, constant communication errors, server not available to register and so on. I am an average competence user, I did spend 6 hours trying to set it up with frustration after frustration. Planning to rip it off the wall and take it back to the apple store.
One more disappointment from an Apple related product. Is it time to give up on Apple? I know it is not made by Apple but is sold at the Apple store

Got up and going quickly, slight snag with app

I got this as a Christmas gift and installed in on the 26th. Swap from the old thermostat was straightforward. It took me two tries to properly get registered with the Lyric app, and another two tries to get HomeKit to find the device, but I'm all set now. Probably 30 mins after the hardware swap, and most of that time was waiting for updates. Not using it through the Apple TV, just iPhones.

Programming the schedule does not seems complicated. Siri responds as expected.

One unanswered question though- how does the geofencing work with the app installed on two different phones? I have it installed on both my phone and my wife's phone. What happens when just one of us is out of the area?

No problems with setup at all.

I just installed my T5 and I didn't have any issues at all the setup was a breeze and so was the install. The app is working as intended which is great and I have 0 complaints with this thermostat. Not sure why all the other reviews on here are so negative all I can assume is user error...

Setup is Simple, Operating the device...not so much

Here's the good: I bought 3 of these for my house. The hardware installation was simple. The software setup was quite intuitive, since the Lyric app is well-suited for installation. In the final part of the setup process, the Lyric app automatically added the thermostats to my HomeKit.

Here's the not-so-good: As stand-alone thermostats, the T5 is what you would expect from a standard programmable unit, albeit with a really nice touch display interface. Unfortunately, programming via the app conjures up memories of trying to program the clock on my VCR in 1992 (flashing 12:00, anyone?). The interface is abysmal, and you're not really sure if you have accomplished what you wanted to do. For example, you can manually program a schedule into the thermostat, but you have no way to see the program from the lyric app. And if you want to use the Geofence option to adjust to "away" mode when you leave your house, there is no way (either on the phone or on the unit itself!) to setup any "away" temperature settings. Isn't this the point of geofence?

Homekit: Seems to work perfectly, assuming you have a current AppleTV or extra iPad lying around the house to act as the brains. Apple has done a really nice job with this.

Summary: The hardware is good, but the cr@ppy Lyric app severely cripple the functionality of the device. I would give 5 stars if the app allowed better control & functionality of the device. 2 stars.

Couldn't get the product to work, nor support to troubleshoot

I bought two of these. I couldn't get either to work in two different zones in my house. Instructions were simple and to the point, but the devices wouldn't even turn on. I called Tech Support and the IVR told me that there were elongated wait times so for me to "try calling later." Then it hung up on me. So I tweeted about how ridiculous that was and Honeywell quickly responded asking for details, pictures, etc, which means I had to rewire them back up, including turning my furnace off per their instructions. An hour later my family told me it was getting cold in the house as I was sitting there waiting for tech support to get back to me. So I boxed them back up and returned them. Hours of wasted time.
