    Hate it but need it

    • Written by Camille B from Harvey

Like so many others, I've only rated this one star because zero stars is not a possible option. I have gone through 6 of these. Yes, 6. At this point, I believe I'm the crazy one for still falling for this product. Apple forces us to need this product though. What a design! To force us to buy AirPods, isn't it?

Lighting to 3.5mm + Charger -- no longer supports telephone calling

    • Written by William L from Concord

Losing the headphone jack for lots of iPhone customers is huge inconvenience. I do not like wireless headphones since another thing to lose or fail to have charged. But I can live with the adapter although poor customer service for Apple to now make you buy one to use your existing 3.5mm headsets.

But you cannot charge and use headsets at same time which is big problem. So, I purchased Belkin adapter and it stopped working for phone calls after a month. For $34 it was outrageously expensive to fix a problem that should not have arisen in the first place. That it is so shoddily made and there is no explanation as to why it failed or if fixing is an option, is doubly disappointing.

Shame on Apple, shame on Belkin. Oh well.....

    Faulty Product

    • Written by Karen A from Orlando

Purchased the accessory yesterday and it worked fine all day. Today I attempted to use it, and the audio function is not working - cannot talk on the phone and charge the device simultaneously. I am so disappointed that I have to take more time out of my day to go and exchange this, or return it and find a different solution. Apple claims that one of the reasons for removing the headphone jack was to have more space to introduce new technology. The decision to remove the jack was in no way innovative, it is just a huge inconvenience to your customer based that relied heavily on it and have no interest in wireless earphones. At the very least, give customers an option - make new models with and without the headphone jack option. Also, perhaps making the phones a little bigger to incorporate the new technology that you removed the jack for could be explored. It could give you the additional space needed without putting a large piece of your customer base through this degree of anguish. I can comfortably say that if the jack is not reintroduced on upcoming models, this will be the last iPhone I purchase. Thank you.

    Worst product failed 3 purchases

    • Written by Susheel Sarat Chandra S from Herndon

Purchased 3 Times, all three didn’t last for more than 3 months, I’m surprised how apple would allow such products to market on their website. Why don’t Apple make it one of them(2 in 1 adapter).

0 stars for me. A waste of money

    • Written by Hon Chun C from Cambridge

Got this thinking apple would know what they are doing with their products. Was already annoyed when they got rid of the headphone jack altogether. Then they play this game with loyal customers. Charging almost £35 for a piece of junk that doesn’t even work. Attempted to charge and play music at the same time in my car and all I got was a high pitch squeak out of it. Sort yourselfs out apple. This is getting embarrassing. Switching to Samsung, where they actually take care of their customers. Not go after the wallet every time

Should be named "It won't last"...

    • Written by Chad M from Chapin

While the splitter works initially, I have had two of these now and both have broken during light use. The first didn't last 6 months. The second didn't last 3 months before cutting out. I made sure to plug & unplug by pulling only on the hard plastic covering the plug (no pulling on the cord).

I don't know who Belkin is using for their technicians, design, & quality control but they all need to be fired. Absolute garbage product...

Will break in 3 months under normal use!

    • Written by Aaron D from Shaker Heights

I should know, I’ve purchased 3 from the Apple store. Each time, they failed just OUTSIDE the return period.

I thought the first one was a fluke, and with the second I swore “never again!”

The third time, I got smart and wrapped the whole cord with electrical tape, since it seems like that is the failure point...failed in 4 months instead of two!!!

If I could give this piece of junk zero stars, I would. Frankly, I give Apple zero stars for recommending this product and not having an OEM option ready for the iPhone 7 launch.

Wish I could give this zero stars

    • Written by Kate P from Verona

This adapter was $35, which is frankly quite a lot for an item that we never previously had to have (because we had a dedicated audio port as well as a charging port). However, I listen to a lot of music and baseballs games during the workday so I often need to charge up before the workday is over. This thing worked well for about a week - I could charge and listen at the same time. Then the audio jack died - it will go in and out, which is embarrassing because all of a sudden, the sound starts blaring out of the phone with no notice. Then the charging died - which means this thing is totally useless. If this were an off-brand charger not endorsed by Apple, that would be one thing. But the fact that this died WITHIN A MONTH AND A HALF while being the "Apple Certified" version of this item is infuriating. DO NOT BUY.

Also Apple, get a clue. I don't think it's unreasonable to want to be able to charge and listen (the way we ALWAYS have until this ridiculous form factor came out) at the same time. And no, I'm not interested in bluetooth speakers as their price point is too high.

    Pretty much trash

    • Written by Lily B from asheville

I purchased this when I got my phone 8, in less than 2 months, it had already stopped working. It stared by the sound cutting out here and ther, but it then very quickly escalated in to saying that it was not comparable with my phone. I complained to belken, so they sent me a new one for free. That was a month ago. It’s broken again. I will not be getting another one.

This adapter is an embarrassment, or at least it should be. I've had two, and both failed at about the same six month point. Save your money, do not buy this sad excuse for an adapter!

This thing may cost me my marriage. I use it only at night and keep it on the bedside table (not abused) after a couple of months intermittently it loses connection with the audio of the phone. I put on a book to go back to speed, sound comes out of speakers and my wife wants to kill me. STEVE WOULD NOT BE HAPPY!!!

    Unimpressive Plastic

    • Written by Jonathan F from Brisbane

The audio and charger cable will only work intermittently, cable is annoyingly thick, and absurdly priced. Side effects of using this annoying piece of prestige priced plastic is that you will feel indignant, but probably continue to buy apple products and 3rd party bandaid solutions like this one.

    Never worked once... tried everything-

    • Written by LAWRENCE H from Fayetteville AR

I never even made it as far as seeing if my ear phones worked.... it never even charged my phone without audio....I was fortunate to have had this happen so soon so i could refund it.

I will try not to gripe too much about Apple- because I keep buying their products regardless of how much they use and abuse their buyers.... they know fully well people will still purchase their product- so that makes ME crazy.

But I will say this: Belkin is awful.... third product I purchased that was overpriced and was faulty from the get go. Where I feel I DO deserve to hate on Apple is the fact that they recommend such an awful product- “the dual charge blocker”

    Unimpressive solution.

    • Written by AUDREY E A from Portland

It's clunky, expensive, and I have to turn my iphone8 on/off for the device to work. But I no longer get the "this accessory may not be supported" popup on the phone constantly as I did when I tried a cheaper alternative. Really disappointed this is the direction Apple is pushing customers. I am uninterested in wireless headphones, I miss the simple headphone jack.

    • Written by Robert B from Brooklyn

For one month it worked perfectly. Now it no longer transmits audio, nor does it charge consistently. I’ve tried it both with and without the Apple battery case but the results were the same. Expensive and downright awful. How Apple could recommend this to any customer is beyond me.
