Breaks data connectivity via USB cable (known problem)

Yes, you can charge and use audio (phone calls and music) at the same time, but the item's description misleadingly omits to mention that it breaks data connectivity between the iOS device and the USB device that is providing the charge. Therefore while you speak or listen, you do get power, but you can't synchronise the iOS device with iTunes on a PC and the PC can't access any photos in the camera roll. This limitation makes it extremely poor value for money. For this price, I would expect everything to work properly without any limitations or interruptions to existing data connectivity via the USB cable.

Exactly what I was looking for

After coming from a phone with a headphone jack I missed being able to talk on my phone while it charged. The only thing I would have liked would be one lightning port and a 3.5mm jack instead of 2 lightning ports. But all in all it solved my problem.

    Faulty after 2-3 weeks

I bought this item as I didn't think Apple would allow a poor product to be sold by them even though as a rule I never buy Belkin products due to their general poor quality. Sadly after 2-3 weeks the adapter developed a fault where it cut out when it was moved even very slightly and this was both for sound and charging. Spoke to Apple and as usual the customer service has been fantastic, they are sending a replace and I can only hope this one doesn't fail. Be aware because I wasn't when I bought it and subsequently found there are been similar issues in the US see reviews on the US store. This is a smalll adapter being sold at a very high price and I expect it to be of quality and fit for purpose.

    Piece. Of. Garbage.

It charges just fine, but after only 1 month it decided to quit on the whole headphone half of the deal. Can't get the sound to stop cutting out. Can't believe I spent $40 on a glorified 3 inch charger extender. 1 month and the wire is already bunching up near the plug. Normally belkin is a lot better than this. Very dissatisfied with this product.

    It´s ok

If you want to plug in your earphones and to charge the iphone at the same time, this product is perfect. For anything else, you´ll be dissapointed.

    Worked for two weeks

Was so happy to find this product as Apple had redesigned the headphone jack and I was unable to charge and listen to my music in the car. It worked pretty well for two weeks and then all of the sudden the phone would not be able to recognize whether it was charging or whether it was suppose to be playing music, very frustrating indeed! The slightest movements would affect the connection. Was able to return to apple before the 30 day return deadline. I am surprised that Apple is selling this subpar product at their stores. More research is needed

    Terrible to Handle

    Pro
Unlike some adapters, it supports making calls.
For a permanent installation it would work fine.

    Con
The Green Acres style spaghetti cabling design.
The pig tail moves the brick out 6".
Adding and removing the power or headset connection with 2 hands is cluttered and hard to handle.

Broke in less than 3 months

It did what it was supposed to do while it lasted, but only lasted a few months. I was pretty much only using it at night so I could listen to music without worrying about waking up to a dead phone. Really disappointed!

    Worthless

I bought this over a Month ago and the Audio cuts out randomly when connected to both a power source and aux cable with adapter. The same thing happens when the audio is only connected. For something this expensive, I would imagine it would last for a greater part of a year before wearing out. Nope...

I will be calling customer support in the next couple of days to get this sorted. This is ridiculous! Also, why doesn't Apple make their own product like this? At least with Apple, you know that the product would be better and most likely thoroughly tested before going into the market.

Worked fine for 3 weeks, then it stopped

Bought this item due to the shortage of AirPods. The dongle worked fine (charging and listening) for about 3 weeks, before it stopped working all toghether. No amount of inserting and removal makes any difference. Buyer beware.

    Doesn't Work

Worked off and on for about two months before completely stopping. Belkin's customer support is pretty awful, so getting a replacement isn't easy. Definitely don't recommend. It never worked well enough for the price, and the quick failure is the last nail in the coffin.

    Poor quality

Connection pins wore out after three months. Now if I don't have the cable very straight it will toggle between charging and not, which means it just vibrates over and over, it's obnoxious. BOO BELKIN

This item broke after two weeks of use. It's far too expensive to be made so weak.

    Actually 0 Stars

I bought this to use on a cross country flight so I could charge my phone and listen through headphones at the same time. It worked okay on the way to my destination, though it was a little finicky about how things were plugged in. On the way back, one side of it had completely died and I could only charge or listen and not both at the same time. Now it's after the 14 day return window so I can't get my money back. I never thought I'd be writing a negative review about a Belkin product or something that I bought from Apple, but this thing is horrible and I'm really not too fond of my iPhone 7 Plus anymore. I bought the phone because my iPhone 6S had stopped working and because I knew this adapter was coming, but since it doesn't work I'm going to have to seriously reevaluate whether or not I want to stick with iPhone. I want my headphone jack back or an adapter that works. Simple as that.

    shocking my ears

So I bought this when they came out and liked it a lot. Over time I'm starting to see the complaints that others mention (working then stops recognizing connections, having to position the adapter a certain way) but I'm also noticing something else. I am getting terrible shocks from the apple earphones that came with the phone when they are plugged into the adapter. It's like having static charge and shocking yourself when it's dry and you scruff your feet on the carpet but in my ear via the head phones. Doesn't matter the device (had it just happen on a iPad mini and previously via iPhone 7). I dont know why or what's up with this being this way doesn't seem safe. Going to have to limit use going forward.

Seems rushed to market. Quality issues.

Connector at iPhone became flaky within a week or so. Result is slight motion causes phone to no longer recognize earphone is connected. Am returning and will try one more as this is pretty essential. Amazingly poor quality for $50.

Apple, please don't count on Belkin to provide something this functionally important. Should be an Apple product.

    Works as advertised

This adapter allows you to charge your iPhone 7/7+ while using headphones, and it does that perfectly. All the controls work, my 3rd party headsets work and it charges while listening.

Some other reviewers have complained it doesn't do data while listening. Well, it was never advertised to. And, if you think about it, it's not possible. The iPhone Lightning port supports a data channel and a power channel. The operative word here is "a" data channel. The headset uses the data channel through a Digital to Analog converter. There is no 2nd data channel for data or xcode.
