    Great controller

Solid feel. Yes the travel of the buttons are a little higher than normal, but in my case I normally mash the game pad buttons anway so It suits me fine.

NO latency whatsoever, It feels so liberating to be playing some good games, with the correct controls :)

    Outstanding, but causes thermal shutdown/restart

Controller (GV157) is outstanding, but causes thermal shutdown/restart on 256 GB iPhone 7 (iOS 11.1) on Talos Principle game due to excessive power consumption (burning hot on iPhone back near iPhone on/off switch). Apple Store swapped out Gamevice controller for another but same problem. Gamevice phone support unavailable, don't answer web support request. Discovered solution (reduce the power consumption): (1) put iPhone 7 in Airplane mode (means AirPods won't work, no Bluetooth) to shut off all radios; (2) use headphone jack on Gamevice controller (Apple In-Ear Headphones); (3) turn iPhone ringer switch on (so Red indicator does not show) - Talos game turns off audio (speaker & wired headphones) if ringer is off (odd?); and (4) toss all apps out of memory (double-tap Home, swipe all background apps out). Will now work without thermal shutdown of iPhone.

Bought it and it doesn't work

Dropped about 80 dollars on one of these, and it ends up not working. I've tried everything, but I've determined that this is just a poorly made product made to look like it's expensive. Do not buy. Will attempt to return this tomorrow.

    Worse than cheaper controllers

This is so much worse than other similar controllers that can be purchased on amazon for a fraction of the price and it doesn't even begin to compare to a legitimate handheld gaming device, which is not the phone's fault. It's this controller. There was a lot of opportunity here to make something great but this controller just isn't even good. The buttons don't all work properly all the time. No extra room to accommodate even a small case. It's actually pretty inconvenient and you will probably not really use it.

    A waste of my time

This device felt like a cheap knockoff of an attachment Nintendo created for the 3ds back in 2010. I returned it very quickly after seeing how quickly it can brick your phones battery.

excellent controller no customisation of button functions

My wife bought me this and I love it for many reason some I will list below. I also have only one issue with it that for the most part I don't mind about but on some games is really annoying, and is the only reason I did not give this product 5 stars.

first it fold really small and feels really great in the hands when using it, does not feel flimsy.

The battery life will easily out last my Iphone 6s so don't have to change it every day, but you can charge you phone and the controller at the same time using the one port a micro usb. So can be used to convert my Iphone to a micro port if I don't have Iphone charger handy.

They have a free app that list all the compatible games and what each buttons does in it. ( My only issue is you cannot change this option so if the game has a strange layout you cannot change it button by button. This is true for all the games I have played so far.

It has a good range of games that it will work with for me, everyone likes a different type of game.

I have had for about 6 months and will be using for many more I hope.

    The Most Amazing Device

This item is very useful for many games. I use it a lot and it is better because it is easier to use for multiple games. I recommend this item! I use it for minecraft and it makes it easier to use.

I love to play on my phone (especially minecraft), and it works absolutely amazing! it's a lot easier to control what I'm doing and i love the feature of having the game vice take battery from the phone. will definitely be using it a ton! :)

    Great dedicated iPhone controller

I'd tried the previous Gamevice but the thumbsticks never felt that great. This is such a nicer device to hold now. It's funny how much of a difference sticks will make. If you play a lot of games on your phone, and play games that are compatible, then you should definitely get this. It's a better way to play games such as GTA, Sonic, Oceanhorn etc. Also get it if you're intending to have your phone for the next two or three years. Don't get it if you're going to upgrade this year - there's no guarantee it will fit whatever Apple introduces. Don't get it if you only play games like Candy Crush. Get a Bluetooth controller if you have a lot of Apple devices and want to be able to use one controller for many devices.

Massively improves gaming on my iPhone 6s

I'm not a fan of many of the free to play games like Clash of Clans and find that a lot of FPS and racing games can be hard to play when you need quite fine control. I saw the demo of Gamevice in the Apple store and thought i'd give it a go. So far it's absolutely brilliant for the games that it works with - stuff like Oceanhorn, Monument Valley, Grand Theft Auto, Bastion, Fifa 13, Leo's Fortune have all worked perfectly.

It's basically like playing a PS Vita - the Gamevice gives you thumb triggers, shoulder buttons and a normal layout of 4 buttons on the right and a traditional D-pad control on the left. There's no noticable lag and I found the thumbsticks were comfortable to use. The only downside is that the Gamevice only works with games that support MFI controls - so for example the old version of FIFA I had worked fine, but the newest version doesn't. When you connect the Gamevice for the first time you get an app that shows all the games on the app store which work with the controller, which makes finding stuff much easier. The best games tend to be the premium priced games IMHO - but that's what I tend to play anyway.

And to be able to play all the GTA games with proper controls - makes it worth the price just for that ;-)

Almost perfect with one glaring issue

This controller is almost perfect, but I can't recommend it for one major reason: The Left/Right buttons (L1, L2, R1, R2) don't work properly. They feel nice, but when you press them nothing happens. After the button clicks, if you press down harder you can get the button to register, but it makes gaming almost impossible. In one of my favorite games, the R1 button is held down for targeting. I constantly loose/re-acquire the target(s) without letting up on the button at all. If I put considerable pressure on the button it will hold the target, but soon after my hand starts cramping.

Originally, I thought I just got a bad controller, so I exchanged it at the store (I bought it from an Apple Store), but the replacement has the same problem.

I contacted Gamevice and it took them 4 days to respond but they have indicated they will replace it. I'm hoping these were just a bad batch run or something, because I'd really like to use this controller. I'll update this review once I get the replacement from Gamevice.

    Pros:
    - There's no battery to charge or maintain. While it does use your iPhone battery, I've not noticed any real drain.
    - Easy to attach and no need to pair with the phone. Just clip it on and play.
    - The phone sits between the controls, makes it feel like a Nintendo Switch. I personally like this better than the phone sitting above the controllers.
    - The Analog sticks are accurate, sensitive and generally awesome. I like them better than any I've used before (including even the PS4 controller).
    - D-pad is accurate. This sounds obvious, but the d-pad has frequently been an issue with other controllers.
    - Separate headphone jack... useful for iPhone 7/7+ when you want to use a regular headphone sans adapter.
    - Uses a Lightning port for pass-though charging. Saves me from carrying a separate cable.
    - One of the most portable controllers I've used. Gamevice shows them stacked and they attach to each other via magnets. However, you can also easily store them side-by-side so they don't bulge in a bag. Really big plus for me as all other controllers have always been too bulky.

    Cons:
    - As mentioned above, the L/R buttons don't work properly. Something I should add is the ABXY buttons actually have the same problem but only barely. It's possible to press the button down without triggering it but you really have to try (press very lightly). In practice, it doesn't pose a problem to me. I had to explicitly test the buttons to notice. I never noticed an issue with the ABXY buttons while gaming.
    - You can't use a case with the controller. If you have one, you'll have to take it off before you use it. Not a biggie to me, but if you have a case that's difficult to remove/attach, it could be an issue.
    - The lightning port does not transmit audio. If you bought an iPhone 7, you got lightning headphones. You won't be able to use those with this controller. You either have to use BT or a regular headphone jack. Not a big deal in my book, but you should know the limitation.
    - This will fit the current generation iPhones (from 6 to 7+). It probably won't fix the next generation.

I really want to use this controller. It's pretty much everything I want in an iPhone controller. If the issues with the LR buttons are fixed, this would be the perfect controller and I would have no problems giving it 5 stars.
