    Poor connection

The card reader is poor quality and when plugged into the laptop it will connect then disconnect causing an error. Also when trying to download photos it will show a disconnect error. Waste of money.

    Too Delicate

The lightning side of the SD card reader has always had a poor connection with my computer and eventually failed. My computer can no longer read the card.

    Temperamental

Echoing what others have written: this reader constantly disconnects or doesn't connect at all. Don't buy it!

    DO. NOT. BUY.

Absolutely terrible SD card reader. As an avid photographer, I expected my $50 to go toward a solid, reliable card reader. I was wrong. Every single time I use it, it disconnects mid-import simply because it's not elevated with the computer. I propped it atop something to make sure it was elevated in hopes of the device to work, it didn't. The long piece upfront with the USB-C cable attached is flimsy and the slightest bend can break the internals. Once again, don't waste your money or time.

Two stopped working within months of purchase

We have bought two of these at the Apple Store this year and both stopped working. The first worked fine for about 8 months then suddenly stopped working. So I bought another at the Apple Store, and it stopped working this week, just 4 months later. We use these moderately - probably dumping 2-3 SD cards a week to our multiple MacBook Pro's with USB-C ports. I don't see any obvious wear and tear on them so I am not sure why they are breaking.

Zero stars - what a stupid design

    Doubly stupid design.

1, the slightest knock will ruin the plug at the pointy end of this device as it did for me the first time I used it.

    2. The angled slot looks cool, but makes the card difficult to remove.

Hopeless. Sandisk, please please try again.

    the worst

I'd like to give it 0 stars

Unmounts randomly mid operation, this product is not fit for sale let alone for professional use.

    absolutely terrible

Got this card reader only 3 months ago when I had to switch to the newest computer. Wasted $50 because it has completely broken, as well as corrupted my files. Even when it was working it is hard to insert and remove the card. It sticks out awkwardly from the side of the computer. DO NOT GET THIS

In the middle of my holidays it just stopped working and nearly corrupted my pictures. I want my money back, now!!!

Don't ever buy this, it is not even worth a penny.

    Simply did not work

I purchased this card reader excited to have a native USB reader so I wouldn't have to use up my other dongles with my older card readers. Unfortunately once I plugged it in, it simply didn't work. Plugged it into every port of my Mac and it still didn't work (the LED indicator light would blink for a split second then go away. I put various SD cards in the reader, and plugged the reader into several other Macs and it was clear that the problem was with the reader itself.

I went back to exchange it for another one in hopes that I would receive a working one ( I figured it was just my luck that I bought a defective product) but then it turns out that even the SECOND one that I received in exchange also does not work. I was unable to find any fixes or resources from Sandisk online regarding this problem and It's clear from my experience (and many others') that this is a very poor product

I would advise everyone against purchasing this product until Sandisk addresses this problem and creates a new (and thoroughly tested) version of this product.

Apple, take this out of stores.

Professional photographer here. I bought this card reader from the Apple store in July after purchasing the new MacBook Pro. I didn't have time to read any reviews, but you know, I trust Apple in providing a quality product and my memory cards are from SanDisk, so I bought it.

That being said, within two months of light use, this overpriced card reader has stopped working. It won't stay connected to my MacBook Pro long enough to import anything AND it has corrupted several of my files in the process. As a professional, it's simply unacceptable; I can't risk wedding photos being ruined by this faulty product.

I talked to Apple, they said talk to SanDisk. I talked to SanDisk, they said they only offer refunds on items bought directly from their online store within 30 days of purchase.

In conclusion, don't buy this. Come on Apple.

    Complete Garbage

Constantly un-mounts. If you crave frustration, this is the reader for you. I finally ended up throwing it into the bushes of my backyard.

4 days of bliss turned to garbage

Im a videographer and I just got my new Macbook and I was in need to download a bunch a cards from a camp I was just filming so I went to apple and a salesman asks me if I needed help so I asked him for a usb c to sd card reader and he had no clue what I was talking about so he referred me to another individual who also was confused, the third knew what it was and told me this was the best reader out Bla Bla Bla etc... so I took it home plugged it in and for the last 4 days it worked flawlessly and then suddenly today I was downloading some 4k files and the thing ejects and after putting it in and out of the port a few times it won't reconnect. It literally hasn't been used for even 5 days and it already died, so do not buy this if you want a some what reliable card reader! Not worth your time...

I Would Sue if I Could!

this piece of Cr@* just burnt my 32GB Toshiba SDHC II , and my entire week's work that I could never ever redo or replace...!!!
thankfully I had a second SD as backup but I only have half of the work in there...
so no thanx to Sandisk & no thanks to all other companies for being lazy and not developing a USB-C card reader...

eventhough I have to travel through several continents to get to U.S. and return this product; I most certainly will as it just shattered my entire Project in half and left my entire month's plan and travel schedule meaningless.

    Very handy

I found this card reader vey useful and had no trouble using it. I found putting the card in and taking the card out not at all difficult. The computer also has had no issue reading the card using this reader.
