Good protection, poor design with stand

If you're just opening and closing the cover while the iPad is flat there's no issue. If you want to stand it up this is where the design fall apart. The top cover doesn't mate with the little hooks on either side due to the magnetic latch interfering and your iPad just falls over. I'm not really happy with the product and don't recommend it.

    Has trouble remaining standing

I bought the STM case for both our new iPad mini 4 and iPad Pro 12.9". Very polar experience between the two versions. The Pro version is brilliant, with a multiple jointed back support that allows the final segment to be flush with the iPad and fit securely into the "catch grooves" (best I can do naming them). But the iPad Mini 4 version has no final segment. As you can see in the photo, it's making contact with the back of the iPad at an angle. The catch grooves are expecting something flush, like on the iPad Pro.

So it doesn't quite fit together right, and consequently it collapses backwards very easily.

3 stars and not 1 because, this defect aside, these are the covers to get. Very tough, water tight on the top, etc. Product description covers it. But the Mini 4 defect is a let down.

    Good protection; Bad usability.

It offers good protection and a comfortable secure grip when closed. While open and the cover folded against the back it squirms in ones hand. The Stan is very precarious and only supports in the horizontal position. The rubberised TPU bracket requires excessive force to install and remove the iPad. Also excessive force is needed to operate power and volume buttons.
